While 15% of children normally snore, habitual snoring (snoring 3+ days per week for 3+ months) or snoring with gasps, snorts, noisy breathing, or awakenings indicates abnormal breathing during sleep and requires medical evaluation, as sleep apnea events often occur during REM sleep in the latter half of the night when parents may not notice.

Don't ignore your child's snoringAdded:
Everybody thinks a snoring kid is so cute. How bad is snoring for children?
So 15% of children will normally snore.
You need to identify which whether the snoring is normal or abnormal. And sometimes you may have a child who has really had a sports day at school and then he's absolutely fatigued. He might just come home, hit the bed, sleep and he'll snore. Children who have snoring with associated notice gasps, snorts, noisy breathing, awakenings are abnormal snoring. Children who are heavy snorers and who continue to snore what we call as habitual snorers who snore for maybe three days in a week and for three months they're continuously snoring.
These are people who may need to investigate. Many of times the child is sleeping in the next room, parents don't even notice. And all the sleep apnea events occur more in the REM sleep which occur in the latter half of the night after 2:00 a.m. in the morning and it may go unnoticed.
