When upgrading marine live well pump systems, replacing the entire pump box with a fiberglass unit (like Wicked Wells) provides superior durability compared to metal alternatives, as fiberglass resists saltwater corrosion; the upgrade process involves installing larger through holes for improved water flow, replacing all hoses that will be touched, using proper wiring techniques with butt connectors and zip ties, and thoroughly water testing the system to ensure proper function before regular use.

BEST UPGRADE FOR YOUR LIVEWELL!! Wicked Wells seachest installAdded:
Oh my god.
Here we are, guys.
We're in the yellow fin buildge and I'm going to start just taking everything out. Got to take these three pumps out of these manifold. I'm actually changing the through holes to bigger through holes um so we could supply it with more juice and uh yeah should be fun.
So the the the pump box is going to be right in here and the manifold will be on this starboard wall where you can select how many pumps, which live well.
Um, yeah. Ooh, that's not supposed to do that.
But yeah, when you guys are running live wells and you start going through pumps way more often than everyone else, you know, you usually got something else going on cuz I put this pump in a few months ago and it's already going out. I think he's got I think he's sucking air while they're getting on plane or something's happening with these. I don't know. So that's why I called in the Wicked Wells Masters to help me. And they said with their magic box, this will all be amazing.
So we'll see. We'll see.
Should I cut right here? No. Silly goose. Never cut that freaking close to the pump.
So you can use it. So you can use it cut at the butts.
I should probably look and see what all these butts are before I start cutting.
Amazing.
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.
All right. Look at this. Look how loose this is.
You shouldn't be able to move anything this quick and easy. So, just think about the air that's getting sucked in there.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I got the pumps out.
Now I got to get this. Let's see how loose this is. That's not loose.
Imagine that was loose. Then I'd scream.
Would you scream? I wouldn't. I'd actually be pretty happy because I wouldn't need to get my wrench. But I got to get my wrench cuz it's not loose.
Oh yeah, the big wrench. Oh yeah, the big wrench.
Ow. It's hard to do it onehanded.
Oh, yes.
Oh, imagine that landed on my head. I'd be squished. All right, guys. I got the new through holes and glued down. I didn't tighten any of this stuff yet. I'm going to wait for the 5200 to cure. I'm going to come back tomorrow and glue these down. And I believe my Wicked Wells box will be done. I'm hoping by today or tomorrow. I pick that up. I ordered all new hoses for in here. And when I get here in the morning, I'm going to scuff all this up and put a fresh layer of white gel coat just on the floor.
Make it look nice and new. I'm not going to go crazy, but that's it for now.
Yo.
All right. I just uh I put a few coats of fresh white BGE paint in the in the BGE. Got the through holes in. I just got a call from Wicked Wells that they just tested their our fresh unit and it's ready for pickup. So, I'm going to swing by their place.
Uh grab that. Maybe we could do a little tour of inside Wicked Wells and then um I got to stop and get some hardware for this and that and then we're going to install this baby. I can't wait.
Teft gel. Mhm.
Oh yeah. All right. It's all nice and dry and painted in here. I put the the plates that go underneath in the boat.
Those are glued back in. I'm going to put the ball valves and the elbows in.
Um and then we're going to get the pump box in here.
The uh the beauty of the Wicked Wells is that it's a full fiberglass unit where most pump boxes are made out of different types of metals, stainless, aluminum, this and that. And as you know, metal and saltwater don't do very well. So, you spend a little bit more money and you got a box that'll last probably longer than your boat.
I'm going to get these valves put in.
Glue them in. Get them nice and tight.
Then I'm going to get the box set in here. I'm replacing all the hoses in here. So, don't mind where they are and laying around. I'm going to cut them and move them. And the box is going to go here. Manifold will go here. They're still assembling the manifold at the shop. So, let's go. Yeah, I'm going to cut those down, too. I just I didn't know. I don't want to get too short, you know. But God, those are getting cut.
So, well, we got a VIP parking spot today.
They put us in the building, but let's get back to it.
All right, we got a little VIP working arrangement. not outside in the baking sun. Very, very happy about that.
The forklift is very loud though, but I'll deal with it. We got the pump box in here. I'm starting to get all the hoses ran. I got a new drain here. Drain here. The manifold's going to go right here. I'm replacing all that 3/4 inch hose. Pretty much every hose in here I'm changing for the most part. Not going to go too insane, but I bought a lot of hose and going to replace all the ones that I'm going to be touching and moving around.
I had to move the water tank forward about an inch um and reroute some hoses underneath.
Going to get this screwed down here and then get the pickup one and 1/2 in hoses on there and just keep trucking along.
But this thing looks freaking sweet.
Yeah. Yeah.
We getting there.
We are getting there.
All right. Where am I? Here I am. Here I am. All right. We got the pump box.
It's pretty sturdy, too, cuz I can stand on it.
Um, got the pump box pretty much done.
Uh, I just need to get the manifold in, which they are bringing me right now from Wicked Wells. But I got the pump in. I got the vent line ran and secured.
Here's my vent for the box. And it's got a check valve in there from them. This is for raw water washdown pump. I got a new hose in there and that's all up in there.
Um, I'm replacing every hose that I touch or look at, but right now I am wiring.
Okay, this boat is equipped with CZONE style switches right here.
So, I got my douche pins and I'm repinning, some new things.
So, I don't have any butt connections like the past people have done when they put new pumps in. They just butt connected here and they kept adding. So, here's my new one.
I got like 11 ft of wire and my Czone plug. Then I can terminate that end when I get to the pump. Ain't that freaking beautiful, man? And ain't this nice and scary.
All right, I'm climbing in the BGE now.
I'm going to get all of the wires and all that secured and I'm going to fix any butt connector in here that I see just cuz while I'm in here I might as well put all new ones. This is the old hose going to the this live wells feed.
I got to yank that off and put a new one when I get the oh snizzle when I get the manifold here. But I'm going to get all this wire secured with my fancy zip ties. Run it all around. Make it nice that ended here. You know my thing. You know my thing.
Oh yes. I love wiring.
Oh yes. So, I'm going to make it live wall one, live wall two, and live wall three.
That makes sense, right? Makes sense to me. And when you're stripping wires in someone's BGE, don't just shoot these things everywhere and then leave because they get stuck in the BGE pumps and it makes a ton of noise or break Use your freaking brains, guys.
I can't wait to water test this thing.
Should have put a light inside this thing so it can glow at night.
Oh, okay. Let's got to got to put the butts on.
Just got to put the butts on. Butts.
Puts the butts.
Put the butts.
Puts the butts.
Tug test. Put the butts. Tug test. Put the butts.
Put the butts. Test. Put the butts.
Strip the sheathing. This stuff's so nice.
I get a new one. I've been such a cheapo.
There she is.
Oh, yes. Some nice guys. It's nice.
Okay, one more and then I can crimp the butts. creep a little a little motivation the wire come off. I just need to get a new one.
Yeah, the butts.
Okay, I just got to crimp the butts and melt it and zip tie and then test to make sure it turns on. And then I need to go to Wicked Well Shop and get the manifold unless they're going to be sweat and drop it off, which I would really really love cuz I'm sweaty and if I get in my truck and the AC gets on my skin, it's hard for me not to go home when that happens. You know what I'm saying?
M just love the smell of butts.
Warmed up butts.
Any of you guys do this kind of work and you know the smell, you know the smell of warmed up butts that I'm talking about.
It's just it's warmed up butts, dude.
Ouch. BS are hot.
Beautiful. Now I just got zip tie and double check in here and then go grab a manifold, I guess.
Yeah, sure.
>> All right. So, this this is partially why I haven't recorded uh a lot of this is because I've been in the build like this trying to get stuff. Like right now I'm trying to get the old hose for the live well feed which is right here.
And uh it's just not something I can film unless I had another human here. And uh I don't have that right now. And maybe one day for the channel, but right now I can't afford that. So, I got to film and work and sometimes I just can't uh do it all. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? But I got to get this hose off and then get the new one on and hose clamp it down.
Um and then that manifold should be here so I can smack that on.
Oh, just took some trash out. And now getting ready for the manifolds. Look at this VIP spot I got, guys. It's just awesome.
I wonder where all that rust is coming from, though.
I would totally crash.
No chance.
No chance. I'd rip the T-top right off first try.
Sick. All right, we got it. Gonna get this installed as quick as I can because I'm trying to splash it before they close and we can test her.
Time to water test.
Hurry up.
Oh, so far Heat.
Heat.
All right, guys.
I'm freaking toasted. This was a hard job. Um, but I got her done. If you have any questions about installing these things, feel free to uh DM me on Instagram. I'm more than happy to try and help people out. Uh, this one was fun. We put two bigger through holes for maximum pickup. Uh, we got three Rule 2000 pumps from Wicked Wells. We got the Hooker manifold here cuz they got two live wells on the boat. Uh, what else we got? I replaced a lot of hoses.
Cleaned this up a lot.
This was a fun one, but we water tested.
The only thing that had a little bit of a dribble was here. I forgot to tighten this, I think.
Um, yeah. You know, everything's good. I mean, as good as you can get it without gutting the whole boat. I'm happy with it. They're happy with it. We're all happy with it. Now, it's time to go slay some fish.
