Roblox’s shift toward age verification marks the inevitable death of digital anonymity in the face of global regulatory pressure. KreekCraft effectively highlights how platform "safety" is often just a pragmatic surrender to legal survival.

Roblox finally told the truthAdded:
Okay, so Roblox finally told the truth on age verification and the reason why they're doing it. In fact, Matt Kaufman himself has actually made an entire response to the backlash over Roblox's new age check and safety requirements.
Now, before we get into this, we have a lot to talk about. I just want to say I apologize for the quality. I'm at a hotel right now, but this is big Roblox news and I wanted to cover this and share with you guys because obviously you guys need to know about this. So, as you know, over the past few months, age verification, age checks, and safety on Roblox has been a very big discussion.
Recently, Roblox announced Roblox Kids and Roblox Select, which people are very unhappy about. Basically, kids will get put in Roblox kids, teenagers will get put into Roblox Select. And basically, Roblox is going to get sectioned off into different categories to ensure kids, you know, safety. I put safety in quotation marks because you guys know I don't like age checks and age verification. I just I don't think it works well. But Roblox also announced that if you don't do age checks, if you don't do age verification, then you're actually going to be limited on what kind of games you can play on Roblox.
So, like you're not going to be able to play bite by night if you don't do an age check. Anything above minimal or mild, you cannot play. Basically, you're you're restricted to the Roblox daycare section. And then, of course, every Roblox player knows about these right here. The lock emojis. These things are so freaking annoying, dude. Everybody hates these. And so, for the past few months, the entire Roblox community has just been complaining about this.
Literally, every Roblox post, every Tik Tok they make, every YouTube video they make, all the comments are just get rid of age verification. Like, people hate this. And so Matt Kaufman actually issued a response here. And I I'm actually kind of surprised. I didn't think Roblox was going to do this. Now, if you don't know who Matt Kaufman is, this is the guy right here. I'm sure everybody you should probably know who he is at this point. Everybody knows him. He's the Roblox safety guy. He's in charge of safety and moderation at Roblox. So essentially, all of these updates, all these changes go through him. And yesterday, he actually issued a response to this. Now, normally I wouldn't read the entire paragraph here, but since this is a really big deal, I think you guys need to know directly what Roblox says because this is the first time they've been super transparent on this. This is from Matt Kaufman himself. He says, "Our job as a platform is to balance the needs of every part of our community, the players, the parents, creators, and influencers. We have heard loudly from parents and policy makers that they need stronger assurances about the content available to our youngest users, and we take that just as seriously as we take feedback from creators and influencers."
I like the fact that he calls out creators and influencers. Like, he's definitely seen my videos. He's He probably hates my guts, dude. Anyway, Roblox says, "We're thinking about how to balance the freedom of creativity and the joy that comes with building really anything. How do we balance that with making sure that the content that's accessible to our youngest users and young teens is age appropriate?" And here's the big part right here. He says, "On age check specifically, we understand it's unpopular, but the honest reality is that the cost of not acting is greater than the friction of acting. Without these requirements, Roblox risk losing access in entire regions, which means fewer players, smaller audiences, and less opportunities for every creator and influencer building on the platform.
Some Roblox Everywhere is better than full Roblox nowhere." Basically what Matt Kaufman is saying is that recently a lot of different countries, a lot of different states have sued Roblox over safety, have restricted Roblox over safety. Some countries have straight up banned Roblox. I think Turkey is one of the countries that just completely banned Roblox. And Matt Kaufman is saying that if they didn't do these age checks, Roblox would probably just get banned everywhere. So would you rather have no Roblox at all or would you rather have Roblox but with chat restrictions and age checks and verifications? He says, "Roblox today is not the platform that it was 5, 10, almost 20 years ago. There are more responsibilities that come with our scale, but there are also exponentially more opportunities to build a real business, reach a global audience, and access more power tools than ever before. And I actually think this is a really important thing to bring up. The reality is 10 years ago, Roblox did not have anywhere near as many players. It was not anywhere near as popular as it is today. I remember back when I first joined Roblox, people were still calling it a Minecraft ripoff, despite the fact that it came first. It came before Minecraft. And so 10 years ago, Roblox was able to get away with all this stuff because it wasn't really popular. People weren't looking at it. People weren't watching it. Lawmakers and countries, they weren't keeping a close eye on all this stuff because it was just some random game on the internet. But now Roblox is like the biggest game on the planet. And since it's the biggest game on the planet, well, that comes with more scrutiny. That comes with more eyes. And that comes with obviously age checks and age verification. Now, I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but I actually made a tweet and I said that Matt Kaufman isn't wrong here. I hate age verification, but from reading in between the lines, it looks like Roblox's hands were tied. It was either this or Roblox gets banned. Now, I've seen some people say that Matt Kaufman is lying here. He's actually not.
Because recently, literally a few days ago, Roblox actually had a settlement with the state of Nevada. A settlement where Roblox had to pay over $12 million to the state of Nevada. They were basically in the middle of like suing Roblox basically. And it came out that Roblox owes them $12 million due to all these child safety issues. Now, keep in mind that's just one state. There were still 140 other lawsuits against Roblox.
So like Roblox might end up having to pay over a hundred million, 200 million, 300 million, I don't know. But as part of this lawsuit, this is this is what the court says. This is what the judge said right here. Okay, this is this is legally what Roblox is is having to do now. Okay, it says Roblox will implement age verification for all users based on age estimation technology and governmentissued identification and will monitor accounts behavior to ensure that users have not lied about their ages.
That is straight from the the state of Nevada lawsuit or uh settlement.
Basically meaning that Roblox is literally legally required now to do age verification and age checks. It's it's not going away. They're legally required to now. They have to do it. And as a result of this, we actually have some good news. Roblox is going to be coming back to Turkey. I mentioned that Turkey was one of the countries that banned Roblox. And well, it looks like Turkey is going to unban Roblox now that it has all these safety precautions in check.
Again, this just kind of goes back to what Matt Kaufman was saying. Some Roblox everywhere is better than no Roblox anywhere. So, I actually agree with him on that. Now, that's not the only thing that Roblox actually responded to. As you know, a few days ago, Roblox announced that in order to publish games on the platform, you now have to pay money. You have to do a bunch of things like send in your ID, do an age check, get like a background check basically. But one of the things is you have to actually pay money now to publish a game on the platform otherwise it's going to get restricted and people won't be able to see it. You get the idea. And obviously people are really mad about this and rightfully so. I disagree with this. I'm pretty sure even Jandel spoke out on this basically saying that, hey, some kids don't have $5 a month to give to Roblox to publish games. And if you make kids do this, you're losing out on a lot of creativity and a lot of future developers cuz like some kids just cannot pay $5 a month.
It's not really fair, especially when the platform, one of its slogans for so long was Roblox, it's free. And well, Roblox actually responded to this, too.
So, basically, Roblox announced that they're looking into ways for you to pay that $5 a month with Robux instead of real money. Roblox said that we're exploring ways for creators to pay monthly for publishing eligibility with Robux. So instead of paying $5 a month, you can actually just pay that with Robux instead, which still isn't great.
Not everyone has Robux, but it's way easier to get 500 Robux a month for a lot of people than it is to get $5 a month. You can get that and please donate or literally if like anybody buys anything in your game, you'll pretty much have the 500 Robux. So like, this still isn't perfect, but I'm glad that Roblox is actually trying to fix this a little bit, make it a little bit easier for people. I still think they should just remove the requirement entirely, but this is way better than how it was.
Now, on top of all that, Roblox has also started banning people who play inappropriate games on Roblox. Users who join in or engage with inappropriate games are being met with warnings, possibly stacking up to bans and terminations. And here's the warning message right here. You can see you participated in a game that included content we do not allow. Wearing revealing clothing, flirting, kissing, inappropriate words, or actions. No, this is actually pretty big because Roblox literally said last year that they would not do this. And obviously I always thought it was pretty dumb because like if you're in a Roblox club game in a in one of those bathroom games in a little bathroom doing inappropriate stuff, you know what I mean? Like obviously you should get banned for that or terminated. Like you know what you're doing. You know what you're doing. You should get banned for that. And Roblox said, "Ah, that wouldn't be fair." But it looks like Roblox actually changed their mind and now they're banning people for being inside inappropriate games. This user right here actually said, "Yo, you can get terminated for playing Condo games now." That's great.
That's awesome. I hope all the Condo games and all the Condo players get banned. That would be amazing. Now, speaking of terminations, there's actually a big glitch on Roblox right now where terminated accounts can log back in and rejoin Roblox games. So, there's currently a glitch going around Roblox that allows some terminated users to join games, add players, and even chat in game. So you can see right here, this account is called account forgotten and then a bunch of letters and numbers basically because the account got deleted. It got terminated. And this person somehow relogged in. He's in a game. He can send friend requests and he can actually play the game again. He says this is completely real. And if you search this username with Avis, it'll let you find their real account with the original username real Amir. And you can see right here it says deleted. True.
His account got terminated. But despite that, he's he's back online and playing Roblox again. Now, obviously, this is just some terminated Roblox users. It's not everyone. I'm guessing it's just a glitch affecting a few people, but if you see one of these accounts in game, it's a terminated account, and you should probably stay away from it. Now, this next piece of news is actually kind of crazy. So, Roblox is coming to smart TVs. Basically, Roblox announced that you're going to be able to play Roblox, download Roblox on your TV, like like not on a console or anything, not not on your phone, but like literally download it on your TV and then play Roblox with a TV remote. Now, I don't know how you're going to play Roblox with a TV remote. That seems like it would be almost impossible, very, very difficult and not fun at all. But it says, "Basically, the homepage of Roblox TV will feature a selection of 10 games that work well with a TV remote and don't require a gaming controller with more to be added over time." Now, like I'm sitting here thinking, what Roblox games can be played with a TV remote?
And honestly, I have no idea. I can't think of a single Roblox game that you could play with a TV remote and actually get away with it. I'm guessing these games have to be like the most kitty games of all time. like like Cookie Clicker or something like you're just you're just going to click tap. That's that's all you do. Like that's the entire game. I guess you could maybe actually you know what you could probably play a game like Souls RNG with a TV remote cuz all you do is just click your mouse, right? You just tap the screen. So you might be able to play this with a TV remote. I find it funny though that they're adding Roblox to literally everything but Nintendo Switch. Like Roblox should be a Nintendo Switch now, right? And then on top of all that, Roblox also launched an official PS5 app. Now if you're like me, you're probably like, "Wait a minute.
What do you mean? Roblox launches on PS5 today. It was already on PS5. Well, it was using an old app and that old app was really glitchy and buggy. So, they made like an official Roblox app for the PS5. So, if you play on PS5, download the new app. It's way smoother. It's way more responsive. It's got faster load times and it's just overall better.
Yeah, I'm glad Roblox actually had some transparency. I'm I'm surprised that they actually came out and basically just said, "Hey, if we don't do H checks, we're going to get banned." So, uh that's why we're doing it. It seems like they don't like it either. And honestly, it it makes sense. Age checks and age verifications means that Roblox loses money and doesn't have as many players. And obviously, they want as much money as they can. So, it it makes sense what they're saying that they have to do this otherwise they'll get banned.
