[00:00:00]being focused to another major breaking news that's coming in from the Supreme Court. This [music] is a significant observation made by the Supreme Court on reservation. In fact, the Supreme Court has made this observation about reservation asking >> [music] >> if both parents are IAS officers, why seek reservation? That's what the Supreme [music] Court has observed during a hearing. With educational and economic empowerment, there is social mobility. So, then again, to seek reservation for the children, we will never get out of it. That is a matter we have we are also concerned. That's what the Supreme Court has said. In fact, the court has also gone on to say that social mobility is there. Now, there are government orders excluding all these people, and they're questioning the exclusion. This also has to be kept in mind. So, a significant observation made by the Supreme Court on reservation and social mobility. CNN-News18's Ananya Bhatnagar now joins us for more on this.

[00:00:57]Ananya, a significant observation being made. Talking about creamy layer, talking about social mobility, and till when can reservation continue if there is social mobility for certain sections?

[00:01:08]Well, yes, big observations coming in from Justice B.V. Nagarathna. And there's a Supreme Court bench which was hearing a petition with regards to uh the inclusion of you know certain sections in the creamy layer and various issues with regards to reservation. But the Supreme Court very very clear, you know, that in fact the petitioner was somebody who had in fact you know gone on to you know say that their parents were actually IAS officers, and then reservation was being sought. The Supreme Court very categorically and clearly asked that both the parents are IAS officers, then why you know a quota is needed? So, very clearly the Supreme Court setting the tone straight that you know social mobility needs to be there. And if at all this keeps happening that you know when already the privilege has been taken as far as reservation is concerned, and that has benefited also.

[00:01:58]Then why are for the next generation, you know, this kind of a this kind of a you know, a relief should be taken, and and if that is going to happen, then how will we come out of the vicious circle?
