Card grading companies may have quality control failures that result in graded cards being damaged during the grading process, including cards moving inside slabs and corners becoming damaged, which can significantly reduce the value and condition of collectible cards.

This is Why We Can't Trust Card Grading Companies..Added:
Well, this is a video I was really hoping that I would never have to record, but thanks to Beckett, here we are. In December of 2025, I really got into the hobby of card collecting, and things were going good. I was having fun ripping boxes, and we had some really big hits. Hits just like this. My MacKinnon Celebrini out of 25 Sign of the Times. I was stoked. I was so excited when I pulled this card. I couldn't believe that I had just hit a nuke of one of the best players in the NHL. And this card right here is what made me want to go all in on card content. However, 6 months later, this exact card is leaving me with a feeling of disgust. Now, if you're wondering what my problem is with this card, you might not see it right away. You might just be thinking, "Oh, it's just it got graded an 8.5. You have to wait 6 months for it. You know, nothing out of the ordinary." Until you really start to break it down. Like really break it down.
When I sent in this card, this is what it looked like. Was this card perfect when I sent it in to get graded?
Absolutely not. But put it this way, if the card was in the condition it is today coming back from Beckett, I would never have sent it off to get graded in the first place. I didn't see any chipping on the corners. I didn't see any white spots on the corners. Yet, when I get my card back from Beckett, it is in worse shape than how I had received it. And for a card that's as special as this, not even because of what it's worth, but what this card symbolized to me, what it got me into was this hobby, this hurts. Especially when, listen to this.
The card is loose inside of the encasing. These cards go for $5,000 raw.
How are you going to put a card of that value in a slab and it's moving around in the slab? Don't believe me, look at this. So, you see the distance from that end of the slab, almost touching, right?
Now, watch this when I lightly tap it the other way.
Well, would you look at that? Which would probably explain why some of the corners look like a squirrel chewed on them. And you might be thinking, oh, maybe this is for all Beckett slabs.
Let's go find one. First off, the shake test.
You don't really hear anything, do you?
Cuz that's what's supposed to happen.
Let's knock it around a little bit.
Oh my god.
And this card also is like that. Right in front of your eyes. Are all my Beckett cards like that? Let's try this quad auto.
Wow.
Look at that. That's news to me. I didn't know that cards move around in slabs. The whole point of a slab is to put your cards in the best protection possible, no? Discovering problems with other cards that I didn't even think were problems. Now, let's try a PSA slab.
Look at this.
Okay, it's a thick card just like the other two cards that we just tried out.
Not going anywhere. Why? Cuz that's what a slab supposed to do. I'm I'm still shocked that Beckett is going through their day-to-day with a quality control of this level. It's It's embarrassing, honestly. Like I Like look at this.
Yep, card's touching.
Go this way.
>> [music] >> You can see it. Look Look at it. You can see it in real time. The card's moving in real time. This is extremely disappointing. You know, I always heard stories about how oh, grading cards is sometimes a nightmare and you can get really unlucky. Well, you never think it can happen to you until it does. This is the card that got me into the hobby. And it seems like this is the card that Beckett decided to feed to the squirrels and let them chomp on the edges. And I like I I like how is Beckett handling this card when they're grading it? Again, for reference, this is what what card looked like when I sent it off for grading. I made sure to take a picture of it. And I get the card back and corners chewed up there, specs of white on the bottom right corner.
I mean, I I I don't really know what to do from here. I'm going to be honest with you. I've never had an issue like this before. But how are you going to make something right on a card where there's only 25 of in the world? You know, I wouldn't have sent this card off if it was in the shape it currently is now. Let's put it that way. If you look at the subgrades, centering 10, corners 8.5, surface 8.5, edges 8.5. You wait 6 months for a card and it gets back to you in a slab where it's moving around, it's all chewed up on the sides. And as I said, I didn't want to make a video like this. I was hoping I would never have to make a video like this. Look at the TAG slab, for example. This card has no space to go, nowhere. And the only reason I went with Beckett was because I was instructed at the time by people who I trusted in the industry to go with Beckett, who also spoke very highly of Beckett. Yet here we are, 6 months later and well, you can see the disappointment on my face. So, what do you guys suggest I do? Let me know in the comments. Am I out of line for this? I don't know. My favorite card in my collection that I was waiting 6 months to receive comes back looking like a dog toy. If anyone else has had issues like this, let me know in the comments down below. I don't want this to be interpreted as a video that's calling out Beckett um and trying to put dirt on on the operation that they run. You know, there's a reason that there's a lot of people that choose to go with them and rightfully so. They do a good job, but when like something like this slipping through the cracks is completely inexcusable. This is unacceptable and you can't claim that you are the world's most trusted source in collecting when my cards are swimming around in your slabs and they come back looking worse than how I sent them off.
I'm going to leave it at that. Is this error on me? Did I make a mistake sending this off to Beckett? Should I kept it raw? Should I have gone with PSA? TAG? What should I do? Am I right?
Am I wrong? Am I like am I crazy? Is is this is this my mistake? Is it Beckett's mistake? I really don't know. As always, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for watching.
