[00:00:34]It's the opening piece of the opera William Tell by Rossini.

[00:00:40]The plot in the 1300s, a Swiss father named William Tell was forced by a tyrant to shoot an apple off his own son's head with a crossbow.

[00:00:53]He nails the shot, then leads a rebellion that frees his country.

[00:00:59]Rossini turned this into his final opera.

[00:01:03]And the overture tells the whole story in four parts.

[00:01:08]A peaceful Alpine dawn on cellos, a brutal storm representing oppression, a haunting calm before the fight, and then that iconic trumpet charge, the uprising, the freedom ride. It's got everything you love in a great epic build, tension release, and an absolute payoff.
