Self-defense laws require that the force used must be proportional to the threat faced, and courts must consider whether lethal force was necessary when a person poses no immediate danger; in the Rick Chow case, the jury found him not guilty despite evidence that the victim was running away and shot in the back, demonstrating that legal systems must balance individual rights against claims of self-defense, and that taking a human life over minor theft is fundamentally wrong regardless of the circumstances.

Rick Chow FOUND NOT GUILTY! Shaun Kent’s Closing Argument + Dame Dash Says Jay-Z’s Breath Stunk?”Added:
giving thanks, being alive, um being healthy, being free. You know, there's a lot of things that's going on out there.
There's a lot of things that's going on out in the world or whatever. So, what I want to do is I want to hit something that's close to home in South Carolina.
You know, you got that situation with the Asian man. you know, right now he shot this young guy, Cyrus, may his soul rest in peace. And he went to trial. And when he went to trial, like like sit back and think about it, right? And folks, what we have to do is be mindful where you shopping at. You know, that's what we have to do. Tyrone Slater, what's up, man? Be mindful where you shopping at. Don't go somewhere when people don't respect, I'm saying, your business. Because that's all it is. If you sit back and think about that situation or whatever, this young man got killed for what? He went in there, you know, if you look at the video and you see the tape, he went in there to purchase some water. And what happened in the process? He went in there, they show him going to the refrigerator, getting four waters, but they also saw him putting the four water back. But you got, you know what I'm saying? What the wife, she's in there. Sunni's coming in there, she glue in on them. She's centering on him, looking at him, watching his every move. Why in the hell you want to go somewhere and people are watching you? They already got it in their mind that you there, you know what I'm saying, to steal. So the young man basically got the water, put the water back. Even right now, you saw the father come into the picture. You saw the son come into the picture. And what happened with that? When you watching them coming into the picture, the young kid left the store. They watching him. He let them search him, walk out the store and they still chase him. They chase him and shot and kill him. So when you sit back and you think about it for what? Why are we as people don't don't get me wrong like I tell you right now where is why are we going somewhere shopping in these environment in these stores giving these people our hardearned money they don't deserve it. They don't trust us. They want our money but they don't want our business. They want our dollar, but they don't want our business. They don't want us in the store. They don't want us in the same area. But once again, sit back and think about it. When you put a place of business in the hood, who the hell you think is in the hood? Hey, with pit, nobody cares. Literally. And you know what? That's a shame because once again, right now is what we have to do is you got to start waking up, man. Waking up.
I'm never going to put myself the older you get, the smarter you get. I'm never going to put myself in a position going somewhere that I gotta watch my back. I gotta go in there with a gun to purchase grocery, to purchase water, to purchase gas. Come on, make that make sense. So, even with this young man, he went in there and what happened? He lost his life over what? And they thought he stole something. He didn't steal a thing. And not only that, what everybody got to sit back and think about it is the guy Rick, he's known for that. Prior to this, what happened? Somebody came in there and they stole some oven cleaner.
They stole some oven cleaner and they got into altercation. He shot the guy.
Okay. When he shot the guy, the guy they they charged the guy. He went to jail.
And right now is Rick got off with that beforehand. Another young lady from understanding came in there and stole some beer and when she stole like what a six-ack of beer and whatever she stole she left and what happened is he start shooting at the car. So when you sit back this is not the first time. This is not the first time that this type of situation happened in this man place of business. So once again what he's going to do is he going to protect his bottom line. He going to protect his dollar. He gonna make sure that nobody is stealing from his establishment, which is understandable. But once again, you shooting killed this young man over what?
You shooting at people over what? Water, oven cleaner, beer. Make that make sense, man. It's not that much of money in the world. So you mean to tell me right now where's that oven cleaner that you shot the right now that you shot the man in the leg for? Guess what is it worth? You know what I'm saying? Or it's going to help you pay your mortgage.
It's going to help you pay as far as right now your rent for the store. It's going to help put your kids to college.
Make it make sense, man. It does make sense. And then you got this individual everybody like, you know, ramping and raving about his lawyer. Okay. So, right now he had how many lawyers? Two, three lawyer. So, first of all, he had this guy named Jack Swirlin. So, Jack Swirl didn't do the closing argument. Sean Kent does. And he did a hell of a job.
He did a hell of a damn job. But once again, you know what? The community, the black community is highly upset. Why are we highly upset? Because once again, you defended a person that killed this child.
And everybody upset about that. And only thing Sean Kemp did, he did his job. He went to school. He's a trained paid lawyer. He flipped the script and a lot of folks don't like that because once again, Rick got acquitted.
He got acquitted and people do not like that. You know what? So, come on. Make it make sense. Make it make sense.
Make it make sense. Let me see what I got here or whatever. Oh, why I got the same thing. I'm not looking for that.
Make it make sense.
make it make sense. All right. But once again, what I want you to do is I want y'all to I'mma play something and I want you to listen to it and I'll be back.
But I'll be right here.
>> This is a closing argument.
>> Executed a human being over a $1 bottle of water. Enjoy hell. Let's make that clear. IF RICK TOW SHOT A MAN in the back stealing $1 bottle of water from his store, you do what you will.
There's nothing to justify this back and forth. Was he right? Was he wrong? It doesn't matter. Taking a human life over a bottle of water is absolutely ridiculous. Is wrong under any way that you could possibly look at it. And that's why the state has gone out of their way to put this $1 bottle of water up, to put this picture up, because they want you to believe that this is what this case is about. So, first, let's talk about the eyewitnesses. And the reason I want to talk about the eyewitnesses first is I remember and I wrote down a quote that the state said, "Cameras don't lie." For 17 SECONDS, YOU COULD HAVE PLAYED THE CAMERA. FOR 17 MINUTES, YOU COULD HAVE PLAYED these cameras. IF YOU REMEMBER, THESE WITNESSES GOT ON STAND. THEY SAT in front of you and they I asked them questions. They looked directly at you.
They were talking about what they remember. They were talking about their memories and how important that is. And then I STARTED ASKING THEM QUESTIONS from right there. You remember? I said, "No, I'm not trying to be rude, but I remember you talking to 911." Do you remember that? Yeah. And you said something different to the 911 tape you're saying right there.
I asked another person, "Isn't it true that we don't interview witnesses together because they can't get their stories together and their brains could get something that didn't really happen?"
>> Yeah. And that's on video, correct?
>> Cameras don't. And they called 911. And then the 911. So sit back and listen to my man. My man is saying right now is guess what? Cameras don't lie. So once again, why didn't the prosecutor introduce some of these things at trial?
Because once again, here it is. When you sit back and you look at and you watch the tape yourself and from what I seen, guess what, man? No way in the world should this man have walked away being innocent. He was guilty as sin. the kid that did you he ran out the store got 130 feet away from the store and once again from my understanding he ran out of shoes and that's when you shot him.
You didn't shot him in the front like he was turned around to you because once again you say he pointed a gun at you.
So if he pointed a gun at you he's in right now he pointed a gun at you face to you can see him. He can see you but once again you talking about you shot him in the back. Make that make sense.
It doesn't make sense. So once again, you listen to Sean Kent. He's a lawyer.
Jack Swirling, the main lawyer, hire him. This brother did a powerful, you know what I'm saying? He did a powerful closing argument. And you know what?
Guess what? When you got to find somebody when you can convict somebody, you got to convict them beyond a reasonable doubt. If there's any doubt, guess what? You got to vote not guilty.
And that's what they did. They voted not guilty despite this individual. Guess what? He's have he he have a long list of things that he have done in the past. And guess what?
He got away with it. He got away with it. And even with that being said, nobody's saying nothing about that till after the fact. So what I want you to do is I want you to listen to this right here.
There we go.
Let me see. Here it come. Come on.
>> I want you to listen to this.
>> Rest in peace to Cyrus Carmat Belton.
Let me know if anything in this video changed your perspective at all. This was his third shooting. The jury didn't get to know that, but I'm going to make sure that you know about the two previous shootings before Rick Chow was found not guilty for taking the life of 14-year-old Cyrus Carmarmac Beltton.
2015, a woman stole beer and peanuts.
Chow says that she then threatened his life and then she got in a vehicle. So, he shot at that vehicle six times. Now, thank goodness no one was hurt, but Chiao was not charged. Investigators called it self-defense. The second time was in 2018. A man stole oven cleaner.
Chow says that that man then assaulted him, so he shot him twice. No charges.
Self-defense. the man who stole the oven cleaner, though he was charged in connection with that case. And then we get to 2023. That's when 14-year-old Cyrus went into a convenience store owned by Rick Chow. Chow said that he stole water. Surveillance video showed that he did not. Cyrus ran from that store and he ran so hard during the 130 yard chase where Rich Child was chasing him with a weapon and with his son.
Cyrus, this child ran so fast that he ran out of one of his shoes and his belongings fell out of his pocket, including a weapon and then he was shot in the back as he was running away. Chow and his son said that Cyrus pointed that weapon at them and that's why Chow fired, but they're the only people who say that. The other witnesses say they never saw anything in Cyrus's hand. And according to the prosecution's experts, Cyrus was shot in the back while he was running away. So, how would he have been pointing a weapon that was on the ground that had fallen out of his pocket as he ran for his life? And a lot of people want to say, well, a 14-year-old had a weapon. That's the end of the story. Not guilty for child. Having a weapon, no matter what age, does not automatically mean someone gets to take your life. Is it a-okay hunky dory that a 14-year-old had a weapon? No. But that is not the end of this case. I personally do not believe that he was pointing it at Cow or his son. I believe the witnesses that were there that didn't have a relative on the line for going to prison for this. Other people want to say, well, he may have put the water down, but he planned to steal. Planning to steal or even stealing should not be a death sentence if he stole a bottle of water, which he did not. But even if he did, CALL THE POLICE. PUT UP a sign that says, "This kid stole a bottle of water, a basic necessity of life, and he's no longer allowed in this store." If a woman steals beer and peanuts, CALL THE POLICE. PUT UP A sign that says, "This woman stole beer and peanuts. She's not allowed in this store." If a man steals oven cleaner, put up a sign, call the police. None of those things should be death sentences. And the fact that people are online saying, "Well, he intended to steal. Well, he had a weapon."
You think that means a 14-year-old child should have died?
I hope you'll really think about that. I just wanted to make sure everyone knows about the two previous shootings. The jury did not, and I have to wonder if that would have changed their opinion.
But of course, since they were self-defense and child wasn't charged, of course, the jury didn't know about it. I wonder what they'll think about it when they find out. Rest in peace to Cyrus Carmarmac. Let me know if anything in this video changed your perspective at all.
I thought that was deep. I thought that was real deep. You know, once again, like this is not the first time. That wasn't the first time when he killed the little kid. That wasn't the first time.
Okay. One time somebody came in there, the guy came in there stole. What he did? He stole oven cleaner. Okay. Oven cleaner. But what happened? He shot the guy twice. Say the guy assaulted him.
Make that make sense. Then a what? A lady stole beer. Got in the car. Haul ass. You shot the car. Come on. But once again, folks, stop going to places where people, they want our money, but they don't respect us automatically when you come in there. All eyes on me. They watching your every move. They watching everything that you do, you know? So, to me, they want your money, but they don't want your business. They don't want you in the store. They rather have you outside and they serve you from outside.
Make that make sense, man. And then, you know, you can't be mad at the brother.
The brother did what he was hired to do.
He came up with a hell of defense.
That's it. He He had a golden tongue. He spoke the magic word that created doubt.
But once again, f they would to present the right evidence. There wouldn't be nothing to talk about. Would not be nothing to talk about. So we got to stop going to places that they want our money, but they don't want us in their store. They don't want us in their establishment, man. They still looking at us regardless of what. You can go in there with a suit and tie. It doesn't matter. You know what? They do not want black folks or people of color in their place of establishment. They want our money, but they do not want our business. So that's what we got to do.
We got to recognize, man. We got to recognize. And like I told you in regards to the brother, let me let me see if I can go back there. In regards to him, like I say, I I cannot lie. You watch his whole presentation, man. The brother didn't do anything wrong. Only thing he did is he did what he was paid to do. They hire him because they know he had a golden tongue. They know he's like a he's like a modernday Johnny Cochran. So once again, all he did was spoke the truth. Here you go again.
Rick Chow executed a human being over a $1 bottle of water in Joy Hill. Let's make that clear. If Rick Chow shot a man in the back, stealing $1 bottle of water from his store, you do what you will cuz there's nothing to justify this back and forth. Was he right? Was he wrong?
It doesn't matter. Taking a human life over a bottle of water is absolutely ridiculous. is wrong under any way that you could possibly look at it. And that's why the state has gone out of their way to put this $1 bottle of water up to put this picture up because they want you to believe that this is what this case is about. So, first let's talk about the eyewitnesses.
And the reason I want to talk about the eyewitnesses first is I remember and I wrote down a quote that the state said, "Cameras don't lie. For 17 seconds, you could have PLAYED THE CAMERAS. FOR 17 MINUTES, you could have played these cameras. IF YOU REMEMBER, THESE WITNESSES GOT ON THE STAND. THEY SAT in front of you and they I asked them questions. THEY LOOKED DIRECTLY AT YOU.
They were talking about what they remember. They were talking about their memories and how important that is. And then I started asking them questions right there. You remember I said not trying to be rude, but I remember you talking to 911. Do you remember that?
Yes. And you said something different to the 911 tape that you're saying right there today. I asked another person, "Isn't it true that we don't interview witnesses together because they can get their stories together and their brains could get something that didn't really happen?"
>> Yeah. And that's on video, correct?
Cameras don't fly. AND THEY CALLED 911 and then the 911 call, they said they didn't see anything. Correct.
Cameras don't fly.
But don't you remember? AND I ASKED ONE OF THE WITNESSES, "ISN'T it true that you told them something and they SAID THAT WAS COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE?"
>> OH, YEAH.
>> And then they've MET WITH YOU, THEY'VE TALKED TO YOU, THEY'VE INTERVIEWED YOU AND PUT YOU ON THE STAND, AND YOU TOLD SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
Cameras don't.
SO, WHY ARE WE SITTING HERE AND NOT WATCHING THOSE VIDEOS? WHY DID THE STATE GIVE YOU THE 911 CALL? WHY DID THEY GIVE YOU THE VIDEOS? WHY DID THEY GIVE YOU THE INFORMATION?
If cameras don't lie the rest of the story, I talked to one of the investigators and officers as he took the stand. Remember, we asked him, "What is important as an investigator?" It's important to get the facts. It's important to get the information. It's important to get the evidence as close to the incident as possible. So, we can do what? Remember the question I asked him? So we can give all the information to the jury, the rest of the story. BECAUSE WHAT WE DON'T WANT TO DO IS SUBJECT AND PUT OUR EMOTIONS IN THERE, OUR personal beliefs, our subjective decisions. This is what's happened.
>> For some reason, the state of South Carolina doesn't want to give it to you.
>> So, he hit it right on the head. So, basically what he trying to say is this, man. The state, he blamed it on the state. What he's basically saying is right now the state didn't give up all the evidence. If the state would have gave up all the damn evidence, then guess what? A conviction would definitely have been there. But once again, they neglect. Why do they neglect to give up the evidence that was there?
The evidence itself would have quote unquote convicted the individual beyond a reasonable doubt. But as right now was only thing Shawn came along. use his words, use his style, use his finesse.
And what he did, he got his client acquitted. And a lot of times right now, people do not want to hear it, but it's reality. It's true.
It's true. But once again, to me, what we all have to start doing, stop going to places that people do not want our business.
If they don't [clears throat] want our business, don't go. They want our dollar, of course. That's a lot of places. They want our dollars, but they don't want our business. What's up, NFH520?
Sha, what's up, Tyrone? What's up?
What's up? What's up? But, but that's what it's all about, man. It's like right now, stop going places like you know, trust me, I'm on vacation right now. I'm on vacation. And you know what?
Right now, this is a business. So, to me, like right now, is does these people really want me being in this establishment?
Okay, it's a result. But do they really want us being there? No. But once again, here it is. What they want is they want that dollar. You know, they want the money. They don't want my black behind up in here. You know, they don't want that. But anyway, at the end of the day, that's what's all about. What you have to do is right now where it's like we we got to know our worth and we got to stop going to places that people really don't want us. like stop going to these bootleg convenience store, gas station, you know, these these mom and pop stores knowing that they don't want us. As soon as we get there, all eyes on us, people watching us, you know, you know, you remember back in the days, it was a song. Y those that my age, you probably remember this. I got to feel like somebody watching me. So once again, soon you go into a store and you got all eyes on me like Tupac say or right now like Rockwell and Michael Jackson. I got to feel like somebody watching. Soon you go in there, all eyes on you. That mean right now they don't they don't like us.
They don't trust us. Automatically regardless of what you can have $1,000, $100,000. It doesn't matter. They don't trust you. They don't trust us. They don't trust people of color. But once again, they want to put their establishment where in all the hood and all the ghetto. They want our money, but guess what? They don't want to deal with us. Automatically they got their guards up. They watching any and every little things you do. If you sneeze and snot come at your nostril, guess what? You committed a crime. You stole something.
Come on. Make it make sense, man. Make it make sense. And it don't make sense, man. But that's why I say we as a people, we got to start getting smart.
So if we don't start getting smart, guess what? We going to always be left behind, man. You know what? Don't go nowhere when we're not invited. Well, they welcome our money, but they don't welcome us. Not. You work too hard for your money, man. And it's not worth it, man. That's all I got to say in regards to that matter, man. Rest in peace to Cyrus, man. My deepest condolences to his family because once again, guess what? They are, trust me, as far as right now, people don't understand when you lose a loved one, especially a child. People do not quite understand that, you know. Hey, let's get on with my man Dame Dash, man.
Listen, let's look what Dame Dash's got to say about his boy >> that I still wonder about being that he wants to be funny.
Jay's breath always used to stink. And you know why? Because for some reason, don't you hate when [ __ ] got bad breath and chew Big Red? It's just cinnamon doodle. [laughter] Nobody wants to smell that. I hope this [ __ ] is not still chewing Big Red with bad breath on that mic, cuz that mic must have been stinking.
And then he dressed up like a mic.
This is not the version. Jay, please come. We make Jay great again. That's the new slogan. Make him great again. I don't want to see this happen.
[laughter] Yo, you got you got me. When you saw the air, you was laughing, bro. You knew this is going to be funny. But who told him? Wait, hold on. But hold on. WHO YOU THINK TOLD? I want to know who told them to do that and like how they put the wig on. How do you think they did that? Like don't you think they would have videotaped them cutting it off and a bit on a bit?
It's no more dookie.
What do you call him? Dookie Wick J.
That [ __ ] new name is Dookie Wick boy.
>> So y'all heard Dane man.
>> So sit back and think about it, right?
Dang getting knee deep in Jay-Zs, you know, talking about right down was how his breath know I'm saying how his breath smell [ __ ] t like dookie and then to add insult to injury. You know what that's the worst thing in the world. A lot of times people don't understand that. You know, when you got bad breath or whatever, people think gum going to kill that scent. Gum is not going to kill that scent. You know, people think mouthwash going to kill that scent.
Mouthwash ain't going to kill that scent. So once again he say he took when he's that bad breath he used to use you know red big red cinnamon and that big red cinnamon really put I'm saying his breath on fire man really put his breath on fire. So a lot of times people do understand that man you know right now is what we have to do and when especially when it come down to hygiene man make sure you go to the dentist get a checkup make sure right now if you got a cavity or you got gum disease guess what your breath going to smell like a monkey cage okay what you say they recorded him cutting his hair off in a video okay yeah but once again you Jay and Dane, they got history. They've been around each other forever. How long Jay and you know Dane, how long they've been around each other for years. And what happened? They had a fallout. But once again, whatever's in the dark eventually going to come to life. So to me, I thought that was real. That was some comedian [ __ ] man. You know, because once again, why would you expose that man a thousand years later, man?
Why would you put his why why would you put his business out there now, man? So once again, I guess Jay's the first one that started it and Dane feel, you know what? I'm going to end it, man. I'm not going out like that. I'm going to end it. I'm not going to continue to act like, you know what I'm saying, this guy is God, gift to the world. No, we're not going to do that. We going to expose him. And you know the crazy the crazy part about it, allegedly, I guess Jay and [clears throat] they say Beyonce, you know, I don't know. Allegedly, they say her breath smell like a monkey cage.
Like her breast smell like [ __ ] Make that make sense, man.
>> Make that make sense.
>> I'mma play it again, y'all.
>> Jay, [laughter] that I still wonder about being he wants to be funny.
Jay's breath always used to stink. And you know why? Because for some reason, don't you hate when [ __ ] got bad breath and chew Big Red? It's just cinnamon doodle. Nobody wants to smell that. I hope this [ __ ] is not still chewing Big Red with bad breath on that mic cuz that mic must have been stinking.
And then he dressed up like a mic.
This is not [laughter] the version. Jay, please come. We make Jay great again.
That's the new slogan. Make him great again. I don't want to see this happen.
[laughter] Yo, you got you got me. When you saw the air, you was laughing, bro. You knew this was going to be funny. But who told them? Wait, hold on. Hold on. Who you think told I want to know who told them to do that and like how they put the wig on? How do you think they did that? Like don't you think they would have videotaped him cutting it off and I just heard Dame in his own word smile before >> like I said right now man they going at it again man you know yeah D had the was the American gangster album okay I heard that about Beyonce yeah intelligent tone how you doing man people saying Beyonce yeah look I don't know man I don't know so I guess right now that's what they got comment, man.
Hey, they doing their thing, man. [ __ ] man. They're billionaires. So, if that's what it takes for you to I'm saying to be a billionaire to have bad breath, [ __ ] Let me be a billionaire, man. Then clean up my act. [laughter] Make that make sense, man. Make it make sense.
But like I say, folks, listen, man. At the end of the day, when it come down to hygiene, make sure you go to the dentist. Make sure you get your teeth clean. you know, get everything checked out because once again, if you got rotten teeth in your mouth, guess what?
Your mouth going to smell like a monkey cage. If you're not taking care, flossing all the particles that's in your mouth and you let it just store, that's plaque. It's going to build up.
So, bad breath equal bad diet. Wow.
Okay. So, that's what it is, man. And like I said right now, man, my deepest condolences, you know, to um Cyrus family, may he soul, rest in peace and spirits lifted. And like I told you, y'all can't be mad at that damn lawyer.
He did what he's supposed to do. They hired him and he came in there and he used the information that the prosecutor that the state left out. He used it against him. So he's like the modernday what? Johnny Cochran. Once again, if you going to trial, you want the best defense team. You want the best people on your team. Otherwise, what's going to happen, man? What's going to happen?
Hey, but like I said, I just want to tap in right quick. You know, I'm trying to get back into it. I took some time more from YouTube, so I'm trying to get back into them. I'm getting my teeth clean this summer. Oh, man. You got to, man.
You know what the worst thing in the world? You call yourself right now, whether you're male, whether you're female, you call yourself, you're talking to somebody. And right now is, man, guess what? I don't care how attracted you to a person. I remember right now at one point in time, I was about to make a move. And right now is, it was crunch time. And um the young lady her breath was like woof. I had to go in complete like I'm saying like retreat because once again it's nothing more than a turnoff than somebody got bad breath man. I don't care who you are, what you are. I don't care how good you look man. It's like right now where is because once again hygiene is everything. If your breath ain't clean, if your breath smell like [ __ ] t then chances are your hygiene m I can't do it, man. Desperate people do desperate things. So, with me, I never try to be a desperate individual. Hey, listen, folks. Hit that like button, subscribe, share, and like I said right now, Whiz, man, email me if y'all want me to talk about a specific topic.
