The James Webb Space Telescope has discovered massive, fully formed galaxies existing just 500 million years after the Big Bang—far earlier than current cosmological models predicted, with some galaxies converting 100% of their gas into stars (violating the 10% maximum efficiency limit) and including the record-breaking JADES-GS-z14-0 galaxy existing just 290 million years after the Big Bang at 13.4 billion light-years away, forcing scientists to reconsider fundamental laws of galaxy formation and potentially the Big Bang theory itself.

The James Webb Scientist Who Reopened The Case On The First Galaxies Law本站添加:
A scientist looked at the first photo from the most powerful telescope ever built and said the universe should not exist. July 2022, James Webb opens its eyes for the first time. Astronomer Ivo Labbe scans the very first image and finds six galaxies that physically cannot exist. Each one 10 billion times the mass of our sun, fully grown, blazing, ancient, born just 500 million years after the Big Bang.
The rulebook said impossible. Galaxies need billions of years to grow that big.
These had only a few hundred million.
Worse, they converted 100% of their gas into stars. Our laws of physics say the maximum is 10%. UT Austin astronomer Mike Boylan-Kolchin published his analysis. If the masses are right, we are in uncharted territory. Then January the 2024, Webb stared at one patch of dark sky for 10 straight hours. What came back broke the record again. A galaxy JADES-GS-z14-0, existing just 290 million years after the Big Bang, 13.4 billion light years away, the farthest thing human eyes have ever seen. The co-lead scientist Kevin Hainline said four words, "Nobody dreamed this possible." Every law we used to explain the universe is now being rewritten right now, in real time, and we have used this telescope for less than 3 years. It is built to last 20.
What is it going to find next? If Webb keeps finding galaxies that should not exist, does that mean the Big Bang theory is wrong, or is there something even bigger we don't understand yet?
