[00:00:00]A scientist looked at the first photo from the most powerful telescope ever built and said the universe should not exist. July 2022, James Webb opens its eyes for the first time. Astronomer Ivo Labbe scans the very first image and finds six galaxies that physically cannot exist. Each one 10 billion times the mass of our sun, fully grown, blazing, ancient, born just 500 million years after the Big Bang.

If the masses are right, we are in uncharted territory. Then January the 2024, Webb stared at one patch of dark sky for 10 straight hours. What came back broke the record again. A galaxy JADES-GS-z14-0, existing just 290 million years after the Big Bang, 13.4 billion light years away, the farthest thing human eyes have ever seen. The co-lead scientist Kevin Hainline said four words, "Nobody dreamed this possible." Every law we used to explain the universe is now being rewritten right now, in real time, and we have used this telescope for less than 3 years. It is built to last 20.
