This video demonstrates four card-making techniques using embossing folders, die-cut shapes, and layered pattern paper to create dimensional effects. The first card features embossed cardstock with ink blending and distressed edges, layered with ribbon and twine. The second card uses pattern paper cut to specific measurements with curled corners and scallop die-cut elements. The third card employs a fun fold design with scored cardstock and matted pattern paper panels. The fourth card creates a striped panel effect by cutting pattern paper into half-inch strips and adhering them with dimensionals. All techniques rely on basic embossing folders, pattern paper, and die-cutting to achieve professional-looking dimensional cards.

4 Fun Card Ideas You Can Easily Recreate Using Your StashAdded:
Hey there stampers, this is Sherri Roth with Stamped Treasures. I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator from Alberta, Canada and I am here today to share four cards with you created using products from the Valley in Bloom suite from the Stampin' Up! May to August 2026 catalog.
So, we will be using this Lily of the Valley bundle. So, it's got this gorgeous stamp set and these dies.
Um and then this DSP coordinating DSP.
So, you can see I've used a ton of it so far. So, this is one of the patterns.
Here's the backside of that. Here is another one. I love this one.
And then that's the backside. Here is another one.
And then there's the backside.
And then this one it repeats the pattern on this side. So, it's got this pattern all the way around.
There's the backside. Love this green, different shades of green.
And then this is the last one here. So, we'll be using some of this pattern paper.
Um the greetings from the stamp set and then we'll also be using the dies as well.
Okay. So, first up Oh, I should mention there is also an embossing folder that goes with this collection. It's called the Floral Spray 3D embossing folder.
All right. So, that's what I have used to emboss this piece of Calypso or Coastal Cabana cardstock.
Um so, I've embossed this. You can refer to the the blog post which will be linked in the description below for all the measurements.
This is going to get some ink blending around the edges.
So, just bring in a scrap piece of paper and my Coastal Cabana.
You can make it as dark or as light as like. You can go as far in as you would like.
And then I'm going to distress the edges using my scissors.
This is going to get added to a piece of Granny Apple Green.
>> [snorts] >> And then to our white card base.
Okay, and what I've done is I've taken this die and some Granny Apple Green cardstock and I've cut two of those shapes.
And I'm going to kind of overlap them to make kind of a nesting place for my greeting.
Don't worry too much about how it looks here because all of that's going to get covered over where it joins.
Okay.
I'm going to take a little bit of seal adhesive, just go across like that.
And then I've got a piece of white ribbon.
Now this is a ribbon that has retired.
But I love to be able to use stuff for my stash and I encourage you guys to do the same.
And then I'm going to take some white twine and tie a bow.
And I want my loops to be relatively large.
And we'll just put a little dot of glue on here.
And we're going to pop that on there.
And then I've gone ahead and I've stamped the happy birthday on to a piece of white and trimmed it down and then it also flagged the ends and I've got dimensionals on the back.
And that's just going to go over top like that.
And then I'm going to finish it off with some of these shimmering dots which coordinate with this collection.
Um so you could use any of these three colors but I'm going to use white.
And there we go. There's our first card done. It's got some great texture with the ribbon, the twine and then that beautiful embossed layer of cardstock.
All right, moving on to the next card.
So this is the next card that we're going to make.
So for this one we need to cut down our DSP. So you can use either one of these patterns. I'm going to use this one just because it's already been cut into and I'm going to cut my cardstock down or my pattern paper down.
So it doesn't matter whether your pattern goes along this side or if it goes up this way.
So I think I'm going to cut mine.
Trying to see how it goes. We're going to do it this way. So, we're going to cut it at 3 or sorry, uh 5 and at 5 in.
So, by 3 and 3/4.
Okay. So, depending on which pattern paper you use and where you're cutting from, your background might look a little bit different.
Okay. And then, I'm going to distress around the edges on this one, too. Okay.
And we'll pull out our pieces here.
I did cut an extra piece, as well.
Um this I'm going to use on the inside.
So, this is just basically from the top bit.
Okay. This is for the inside. So, this is going to go on here like this.
And you can distress around the edges of this one, as well, if you'd like.
I am going to curl this corner up. So, just using my fingers, I'm going to curl that up. And then, I'm also going to do the same thing on my pretty peacock cardstock.
And then, I'll adhere the pattern paper to the pretty peacock cardstock and the pretty peacock cardstock to the granny apple green card base.
Okay. So, that piece is going to go across.
Your piece can either match up with the edge of the pretty peacock cardstock or it can extend past it.
I kind of like it extended past. I'm going to stamp my greeting. Now, if you don't have the stamps that I'm using, um just grab whatever greetings kind of fit the shape that you're stamping on. So, I'm using so grateful for you, and I'm going to use our new black hybrid ink.
And I'm going to stamp that on this scallop rectangle, which I've cut from the scalloped blooms dies. I'll show you those dies in a second here.
>> [snorts] >> Okay, so these are the scalloped blooms dies. So, you can see I used that die there, and there you get all of these nested scallop circles, and then you get these pieces as well. So, that's all one set of dies.
All right, this is going to go on using some dimensionals.
And then I've taken a piece of the garden green and white chevron ribbon.
I've wrapped some twine around it, and that is going to go on to this side. I'm going to use some mini glue or a mini glue dot for this.
And then we'll finish it off with some of our shimmering dots, and this time I'm going to use the green ones, and I'm just going to use a couple of them.
Okay, and then the inside, I simply added this piece to the top, and then added that on the inside. So, there is card number two.
Oops, that goes in this one.
So pretty. I'd love I feel like when you add just a little bit of fiber, whether it's ribbon or twine, it just really steps up your card. So, there is card number two, and then card number three, here's what we're going to make. So, this one is a little bit of a fun fold.
Pull out the pieces that we've got here.
Okay. So, we've got a thick white card base. It's a standard size card base.
It measures 5 and 1/2 by 8 and 1/2. I've already scored it at 4 and 1/4, but we need to do one more score line.
So, we're going to put it in with the long edge at the top and we're going to score it at 2 and 1/8. So, if yours is not scored, you'll score it at 2 and 1/8.
And then you'll slide it over and score at 4 and 1/4. Okay? And that's going to give us that fun fold.
And then we're going to fold it like a regular card.
And then fold it back on itself.
Like that. And that's going to open like that.
Okay.
Now, you'll need two pieces of pattern paper.
You can use any of the pattern papers from the pack. So, I've chosen to use this one.
And these pieces are two No, are 1 and 7/8 by 5 and 1/4. And they are going to get matted onto a piece of guard pieces of garden green.
And then these pieces are going to get attached here and here.
Okay. So, it's going to open like that.
And you'll get a little bit of that pattern peeking in behind.
Now, this was cut using the everyday arches dies. It was the third largest die. So, I die cut that first and then I embossed using that floral spray embossing folder. And this is going to get adhered on here like this, but we only want to add adhesive to half of it.
So, and I always whenever I do this, I always kind of hold the part that does not need to be embossed. And you want to be pretty generous with your adhesive. You want to make sure that it adheres nicely. And you're going to position it so it's in the center.
So, you've got an even border here and here, but another good gauge is when you open it, you should have a relatively even border on these two sides. So, I find using liquid glue is perfect for this because it gives you the flexibility to reposition as needed.
All right. So, it looks pretty on the inside as well as the outside.
All right. I've gone ahead and I've stamped that same happy birthday greeting on a piece of white cardstock using our black hybrid ink and then I'm going to add a little bit of glue to the bottom.
And add that to this scrap of garden green cardstock just to bring a little bit of extra color. This is a lot of white. I love cards with white with lots of white, but I just needed another little pop of color.
So, I'm just going to trim this. I'm going to angle cut this like that, but I'm going to leave a little bit of extra space here.
And then I'm going to take my bone folder and I'm going to kind of curl this up so it's a little bit of a wave there.
Uh and add two little mini dimensionals. If you're using regular size dimensionals, you don't need to add two, one will be just fine. And I'm going to add a little bit of adhesive here and a little bit of adhesive here.
Close this up.
And then position this down. Now, you want this to not stick off the edge of your card base because you need it to fit inside your envelope.
Then I've taken some of that same ribbon, folded it in half, and wrapped some twine around.
This is my favorite way to use ribbon.
And we'll add that to the card base stepped up already, and then we'll step it up another notch by adding some of these really pretty shimmer dots. This time we're going to use the green ones.
And there we go. So, I've kept the insides of the cards pretty simple.
Um this one has lots of space for writing, but you probably will want to be mindful of where this sits and kind of write closer in here and not super close to the edge just so it looks really nice from the outside as well.
All right. So, that is card number three. All right, here's what it looks like. So, I'm not sure how well this is showing up, but can you see that every other one of these panels is popped up using dimensionals. And it's so easy to do.
All right. So, some of the pieces that I have, I have this vellum scalloped circle. So again, I use these dies and it is the third smallest that I cut from some vellum, and that's just going to be kind of a placeholder for this. I just needed something subtle. I didn't want to take away from the background.
Um I also stamped the happy birthday that same happy birthday greeting. Um and I fussy cut around it. You do not need to. You could cut this into a straight edge as well. And then I took some very long ago retired garden green ribbon and wrapped some white twine around it.
Uh and then this piece of DSP, so this again can be cut from either one of these pieces. You can actually use any pattern that's in the um paper pack, but I found that it looks really stunning with I with either one of these.
And again, your background is going to look very different. Even these two pieces, it's going to look different because you can see that the pattern is on this side and it's slightly different. There's a little bit more white space up here, whereas this one the pattern is primarily on the left side and a little bit less white space.
But the size that you want is 3 and 3/4 by 5.
So we're going to need that and you also need a piece of white that is the same size.
Okay. So now what we're going to do is we're going to take our paper trimmer and we're going to cut this into half-inch strips.
All right. So whatever size, if you want to replicate this on another card with different DSP, you can do that. But whatever size that you have needs to be evenly divisible by whatever your strip width is going to be. So this is 5 in, so 5 in divides nicely by half an inch.
So that's what we're going to do.
All right. So I'm using this edge of my paper trimmer. If you don't have a wider edge that has a ruler on it, you can go this way, too. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter which direction. You're going to end up with half-inch strips.
Okay, so I'm half-inch mark and I'm going to cut and I'm going to keep them in order.
>> Okay, at the end you should have an inch left, so just cut that in half.
And there are your last two half-inch strips.
So I've got them all in order. That's going to make it easy for me to start my assembly.
I'm going to start on the left and work my way to the right.
I like to start with a flat piece just because when it's flat you can get it right up with the edge of your cardstock. So you know that you're starting off in exactly the position that you want it to be. When it's popped up, it's hard to get it exactly lined up. All right?
Okay, so the first one goes on flat.
Then the next one goes on with dimensionals.
And that is just going to get lined up.
I lined it up with the bottom.
And then right with the edge of the one that's already on there.
Just like that. And then this one's going to go on flat.
So you're basically just going to repeat this.
>> Okay, when you get to the last one, you might find that you have a tiny bit of space left.
Mine worked out okay. There is just a sliver of white showing here.
If there is, just trim it off.
All right, and there we go.
Isn't that pretty?
So, that's going to get added to our piece piece of pretty peacock. Now, I can't take credit for this idea.
My friend Kathy shared it with me.
Um and I I she saw it somewhere online as well.
Okay, so that's going to go on there and then that's going to go on our white card base.
Okay, and then we're going to add our circle. So, now because you can see adhesive through this, you're going to be strategic. So, I'm going to put a dimensional right there and a little bit of multi-purpose glue right here because I know that my ribbon will cover over that.
Okay.
And then this is going to go on you with a mini glue dot.
And we're going to pop that right about there.
And I'm going to put this at an angle to cover up that adhesive.
And then this is going to go on using, let's see here, a mini glue dot here.
>> [snorts] >> And then I'm going to use a little bit of multi-purpose glue here.
So, if you loved these cards, make sure that you keep an eye on my blog because I do have an upcoming class to go using this collection, an add-on class coming.
Um and also a scrapbook layout kit that you can purchase as well that will be available for purchase. All right, so let's take a look at the card. Oh, we got to finish this off with our gems first.
This time we're going to use the blue ones.
I'll add a little blue one there.
Another one here.
One here. There we go. A little bit of sparkle. So, there is card number one.
Well, I guess that was card number four.
This is card number three.
This was card number two.
Oops.
That one there, and that those two look so different. And then card number one.
So, we've got four beautiful cards using the products from the Valley and Bloom suite from Stampin' Up. So, I hope you enjoyed this video. If you did, make sure you give me a thumbs up.
