Mood and perception exist in a symbiotic relationship where each influences the other, meaning that while your mood affects how you perceive the world, your perception of the world also affects your mood; this understanding allows individuals to consciously choose how they interact with their environment to improve their emotional state, such as by focusing on positives even when in a gray mood or by adjusting perception to enhance mood when feeling down.

Running Wisdom #778 - Mood vs PerceptionAjouté :
So, I've been thinking at the moment about mood and perception and uh how they interact with each other. And it kind of led me down this thought pattern of uh the old chicken or the egg argument. Which came first, right? Um is it that the the mood affects your perception of the world around you? Or is it that the perception of the world around you affects your mood? So, let's go back 24 hours. I made my running wisdom yesterday. It was about this beautiful day we were seeing. You know, it was misty and it was sunny and it was it was quite gorgeous. And uh how I'd gotten up and got a bunch of jobs done and uh I'd felt like I'd hit a an achievement of completion on a few things I wanted to get done. So I was looking around and it was just such a beautiful day. And when I finished making that video, I started just walking, walking to work and just enjoying the surroundings. And I thought, is it that it's so beautiful out here? Is it that, you know, I'm feeling like I completed something and I achieved something that's put me in a good mood? Or is it that I'm in a good mood that I'm seeing the world so beautiful and that I'm completing things? And I don't think it's either. I don't think either one of those two are in charge. I think they're a symbiotic relationship. I think mood will affect your perception, but in the same token, I think your perception will affect your mood. So, how's that helpful? All right.
And I think it's important that we think about this because what that really dictates is that how we choose to interact with those things is what's then going to become the next the next step. So, if you're not in a great mood, but you choose to perceive things around you differently, it will put you in a better mood. If you are in a gray mood, but things around you might be gloomy or dark or whatever, that better mood will allow you to see the positives in the world around you in what's going on. So, I'm going to use those going forward.
I'm going to make sure I assess where am I at? What's my mood like? Is my mood affecting my perception or am I perceiving things a certain way and that's changing my mood? So, I hope that helps you today. You know, make sure you check yourself, check your mood, check how you're looking at the world around you, and uh find the best way to be positive, to look at things in the light around you rather than the darkness, and uh try to get this thing right. Right.
Let's uh let's look at the world the best way we can, and uh put ourselves in the best mood we can to make the most of what's around us. I'll see you tomorrow.
Let's be better. Have a great day.
