The problem is, those fish can outcompete native species, mess with ecosystems, and even change the genetics of local fish populations. But states still keep doing it because fishing licenses and gear taxes bring in massive money for conservation. So, now there's this weird paradox in America. To fund conservation, they sometimes end up hurting the very ecosystems they're trying to protect. And most people fishing out there have absolutely no idea.
