Hello everybody. Welcome back to Dead Stick Bush Flight Simulator once again, the demo play test. We need to go over here inside of the briefing hut and we need to start our flight school. So, I'm excited about this. Open the door.
Hello. Do I have a instructor I'm supposed to meet here that's running late and wants me to just go out there and pre-flight the airplane before he gets here? You can buy oil for $5.
Yes, please. Okay. Um, interact with the PC and start flight school. You got it.
Flight school's down here. Oh my lord.
Hi, I'm John King and I'm Martha King.
Welcome to the Dead Stick Bush Pilot Simulator. Okay. Well, uh, we got that out of the way. License tests, please.
We can get a commercial license. And they have offstrip, fragile, night, instrument, mountain, and dangerous. Not available in the demo. Okay, basic lessons are here. Start engine. Yep, all the easy stuff that we basically did last time. Let's just do our commercial license. I'm ready for it.
>> Hey there, it's Rusty. Well, now this is it. The commercial license test decides whether you're ready to shuttle cargo around the island and make valuable deliveries or if you're more likely to bounce down the runway like a shopping car with a bad wheel. Folks prefer their packages arriving in one piece and preferably not on fire. Okay, in this lesson, we're going to start the aircraft correctly, taxi safely through the airport, perform a controlled takeoff, climb to 3,000 ft, execute a safe landing, and slow and stop the aircraft under control.
>> All right, Rusty, you got it. I think we can do it. Let's do it. Are you nervous?
I'm not nervous. Okay, I can't open the window for a clear prop, but that's okay. Let's just push the uh mixture in here, and we're going to prime the sucker three times.
There we go. Master switch is on. She is live. Clear prop.
Airplane comes to life just like that for us. Yeah, there's radio on and off, but I don't think we have We do have a car beat. That's actually really cool.
Um, com volume test. Oh, you can turn everything on down here. Here's our actual uh Oh, very cool. You can squawk.
We'll do 1,200 for VFR. That's good.
There we put this on out. And that is awesome. I was wondering if we could change the nav radios so we could actually get uh you know VS and with the kneeboard. Uh nothing there we need today. Okay, cool. We'll just put that away. It's good to know that we have it, right? All right, awesome. Uh flaps, we'll do one notch for takeoff. Fuel quantity is checked and uh we can turn our lights on this time. anti-colision, landing, and navs. Navs would be for uh nighttime or, you know, twilight operations. We'll uh keep the landing light on for now while we taxi. All right, let's taxi to begs runway, whatever that means, right?
Where are we even at right now?
Probably out this way, I would imagine.
Goodbye, Red Shore Flight School. We are on our way to become a commercial pilot.
I'm very excited for this if you couldn't tell. This time I will remember to really stomp on the rudder. Last time I didn't realize how much we actually had to use. I thought it was going to be a little more arcade. I'll be honest and we got caught sleeping there. So that's on us. That is on us. All right, we're going out to the left. It looks like out to the runway.
Here's a briefing hut right over here.
Yep. I can see the runway there and I can see the wind sock. The wind sock is looking pretty good.
Uh, pretty much we're going to take off to the left. Let's see what that'll actually be like inside of the airplane.
See if that makes sense to us here.
And this time we're doing an intersection departure. We're not going to use the full runway. Last time we did it was a smaller strip. This is a much bigger airport it looks like. And this is not Morton. This is somewhere else.
Got three of those. Yeah. Yeah. This is a big runway here. So, we should be fine. All right. We've made it to Beg's runway.
We're going to take off and climb to 3,000 ft, y'all.
And remember to add right rudder on takeoff. Here we go. Bringing up the power here.
All the way on the right rudder. There we go. Yep. Just like that. Get her up to speed. There's about 55 knots. And on up we go. Woohoo.
She is sporty. I will say that she is sporty. All right, climb to 3,000 ft.
And it looks like they want us to turn to the north heading 360. So, let's go ahead and put our flaps up, let the airplane start accelerating, and we'll just use a little bit of trim to help us on our way up 3,000 ft.
Nothing too crazy. And we'll start turning out to the north and roll off right about here. Here we go.
Now, we're looking good. 1,800 climbing 3,000 to the north. Look at that beauty right there. Very pretty airplane. Every time you move the uh mouse around, it kind of freaks that out. On the right, I'm going to try to not do that so much.
So, uh let's bring the nose down a little bit. Trim it down. Trim it down.
Now, you may be wondering what that little gauge on the left there is. The little digital one. Um that is a angle of attack gauge.
So, that's telling us if we're, you know, we're too shallow right there. We want to be climbing. if you're you want to be on speed.
There we go. 30,000 complete and okay or better runway landing at Begs. Less than 500 ft per minute. Okay, you got it, buddy. Let's pull our power.
We're returning back to the airport.
So, I am going to slip it since we're at 3,000 ft. That was actually kind of crazy.
I don't know what the actual field elevation is because we didn't get that information.
I would imagine if we were doing our commercial license test, we should probably get a weather report and all that stuff first. That would have been important for sure.
You see the island there on our our right as we are slipping down ever so slightly is what it looks like when you're slipping from the outside.
You see that rudder is completely kicked over and there's the runway over there.
Okay, it's got some elevation on it because it is up on a hill. I'm just ignoring all of my uh messages I have on my phone right now. Don't worry about those. Look at how tricky this runway is. I'm just now seeing it. That is crazy.
It's up there like Sedona.
All right, let's pull our power back here.
We're going to be a hot shot here for uh for old rush.
Slow it down. Let's get in the white arc.
There we go. First notch of flaps.
Looking good right there. Going to square up our approach a little bit on our base leg. Add a little more flap here. Let's feel it out. Little nose down on the trim. That's perfectly fine.
A little more flap. There we go.
And now let this thing mossy over to the runway here. Got a lot of room.
Get to the runway here. We're still very high on this approach cuz these trees throw you off, man.
Let's make old Rusty proud.
Below 500 ft per minute. But I think we can handle it. I think we can handle it.
I hope we can.
All right, let's try to get a three-pointer on this. Come on. On up on up. Oh, we were down. 171. That wasn't bad at all.
Reduce speed to a safe taxi and speed.
We're just lightly on the brakes. You don't want to slam on them, you know, bring that nose straight into the ground. That'd be an idiot move.
Try not to do that.
We had a landing fee cost of $510.
Find a safe place to stop and turn off the aircraft. Okay.
Yeah, this thing is a joy to taxi, too.
I will say that. That's really impressive. I like the sounds. Those are really nice. Our flaps up. We don't need those down anymore. Yeah, the vegetation looks really nice. The clouds look great.
Um, this has me very very uh pumped. It really does.
Okay, keep on going down this way. Now, I wonder if that is foreshadowing. Are we going to get a DC3 later later later down the road? That's possible. I think it'd be pretty cool. Or that sea plane sitting over there.
Yep, that de Havlin Beaver is looking mighty fine as well.
>> All right, great landing out there. Now, find a safe place to stop and turn off the airplane.
>> You got it, Rusty. We're going to do it.
All right, we're going to stop on this one right here.
That's where we're going to go.
Right here today. Line that wing up with that. Perfect.
All right, we don't have parket brake mixture.
That's all the way down. Let's turn all this stuff off. Oh, well, I'll be damned. You're a natural. Clean startup, decent taxi work, smooth climbing, proper landing, and most important of all, you brought my aircraft back in one piece. That officially qualifies you to haul cargo around Bleak Rock. Welcome to the life of a bush pilot. Long hours, bad weather, mysterious cargo, and coffee strong enough to melt a wrench.
Try not to crash any airplanes out there. All right. Well, Rusty is super happy with us, and we passed our commercial license. Interact with the PC to claim commercial license.
There it is. Rating. Commercial. All right. Hit collect on that.
Congratulations. You have earned commercial rating. Beautiful. There it is. Right there. We got the check mark.
Now, we need to refuel the aircraft at the fuel pumps.
Awesome. Yes, please. I would very much like to do that. But where is it located? 360ome feet that way. You know what? We're just going to go taxi the airplane over there. We don't need to uh we don't need to grab the thing on the back. That would take us way too long to walk. And it's the evening time. Then we have to complete repairs on the airplane in the maintenance hanger. Dude, this is so cool. The pilot hanger's over there.
We're not going there. We're going over to the fuel area first. Can we get up there with these? We have to do it the other way. Oh, there we go. Refueling.
Add fuel.
Whoa.
That is wild.
All right, that one's full. Look at the hose physics, dude.
Going to go around this way and fill this one up.
Okay, this is really cool. We can see our center of gravity and all that.
Beautiful, man. It gets dark out here fast. Look at these beautiful northern lights we have here. That's actually really cool. We're going over to the maintenance hanger, which is back here.
Um, but yeah, look at that. That is awesome.
I was wondering how they were going to handle uh nighttime, but it looks really good. All right, you know what? We're just going to go taxi over there the rest of the way. It's this one right over here. Yep. With the lights that are on nice and bright for us.
I'm excited to do some maintenance on this airplane. All right, let's taxi it on into the hanger. Well, we'll shut down right here. Actually, we don't need to be taxing a live airplane into here like an idiot. Build a mixture. There we go.
And we got you. And we got you. Got to be safe, you know. Grab the flashlight from the tool wheel. We're good.
Although, I do want to see what it's like. Uh, it's grayed out, so never mind. Okay, I need to tow. There we go.
Push it that way.
Use that little line right there. Get it nice and straight.
That's looking good right there.
All right.
I don't know how perfect it needs to be, but probably about right there is good, I would imagine.
Can we close these doors and work in the night? No. They're like, "Nope, you got to have them open." All right, airplane.
We're going to fix you up. Really nice.
What do we got here?
Open the calings. We got cylinders are good. Mags are good. Batteries are good.
Cylinder one is 0%. That is not good.
Okay. Drive belts fine. Prop, you're good. Yeah, looks like it's just the cylinder. Yeah, the spark plugs are fine. I checked those two. All right.
It's just the cylinder.
Maintain the airplane. Repair critical.
So, we have select parts to repair. We can do a repair critical repair warning to repair everything. Okay.
So, we can select parts to repair engine. There's the cylinders right there. There they are. Space to repair.
$9,500.
All right. Well, you can add it to your cart. That's cool. The battery is at 98%. So, that's not that bad. Okay.
Airframe itself is at 99%. That's not bad. Okay. Okay, cool. Ailerons are all fine. Props fine.
Uh, props 100%. This is a really slick uh menu system here. I do like this.
Fuel tank seals are fine. So, all this stuff you have to take care of. All right, let's get that fixed.
Let's hit Y for checkout. Balance is 28.64.
Total cost of 9500. Insurance is covering that. Okay, gotcha. Confirm that. Service time will be eight hours.
Wow. Okay. All right. So, we have to go back to our pilot hanger, it looks like.
So, let's go ahead and remove the chalks.
Make sure these are all closed up. The calings are. And they are. Sweet. Let's get it roll out going on here. Try not to run into anything. There we go.
That's good right there. Sweet. All right. Let's go ahead and fire this thing up. We'll head over to our hanger, which is on the whole other side. Uh, looks like that one right there. Look at the dynamic lighting here. Lighting up the cockpit from uh outside. That's actually really cool. Mixtures in. Uh, let's give a few primers here. It's been been some hours since she's been shut off. Master switch is on. Antto coal is on. Nav lights are on. Clear prop.
Fire it on up. There we go.
And we'll get that landing light on.
Let's taxi over to the other side, shall we?
Yeah, I really, really like the maintenance part of everything here.
That's really neat. I need to learn how to turn my instrument lights on. Or maybe they just don't have them modeled in yet. You can manually adjust the altimeter, by the way. That's actually really cool. All right, we're almost here to the hanger.
I would imagine we're going to have to open the doors ourselves. Oh, look at that thing. That is a beautiful fuel truck there. All right, go over this way.
I can see the light on in there.
Pull up a little closer.
That's good about right there.
All right, let's shut it down.
There we go. Beautiful job. Beautiful.
Beautiful. master switch is off and uh I'll kill the keys. The thing is I wonder if the circuit breakers actually you can you can pop the circuit breakers.
All right, that's pretty cool.
You just going to magically open for us?
Open hanger. Oh, that is so cool. Look at that.
Nice.
Oh, that is so neat.
All right, we'll put this thing away. I guess I guess we'll put it away.
She's going to be in good shape for our first missions when we take it out.
Line it up.
All right, that's good right there.
Uh, we can close the hanger. Beautiful.
I feel like we need to have chalks on this thing before we call it a day.
There we go. Now we have to sleep on the couch in the pilot hanger until dawn.
Okay, sleep dawn, please. And thank you.
All right, we did it. Now what? Now we live our life. I think we actually live our life now cuz there's Skywolf there.
Maintenance briefing hut so I can get jobs. Fuel pumps over there. Yeah. So now we're just kind of left to our own devices.
Fantastic stuff. Well folks, let me know what you think of Deadstick. I have been having an absolute blast with this. I have high hopes. That is for damn sure.
I know I said that last time, but I I do have high hopes for this
