Sunshine today with summer heat on the way | WTOL 11 WeatherAdded:
All right, good to see you again on this Thursday morning. Let's talk about that forecast. A lot to get to and some pretty big changes going to be happening over the next couple of days. Want to get out, get that yard work done.
Remember yesterday gave you the all clear from frost for the season. You want to get those gardens going or you want to get that yard trimmed up, no problem. Next couple of days. Only little hiccup here, I will say it's going to be Saturday. Potential for some scattered showers and thunderstorms. By that time though, you'll probably want to be getting outside with those temperatures really beginning to warm up. Saturday's our first 80° day and what's going to be a pretty long stretch of them. Right now, we still got clouds.
Eastern Ohio still has some showers coming down. For us though, we are dry.
Give it a couple of hours this morning.
We're going to go from overcast to sunny. I think pretty rapidly for us.
And speaking of rapidly, it's going to be a quick warm up this weekend. Like I said, starting Saturday, this major warm up, five straight days beginning Saturday where high temperatures will be 80° or warmer. And not just that, we're talking about the return of some Gulf moisture as well. High pressure anchored off the East Coast means this is going to be returning.
Not only is that going to spur on the chance for some pop-up showers or some spring thunderstorms, but for the first time this season, look at this this morning. I have not shown it at all this year. The muggy meter is back. Starting Sunday afternoon into Monday and especially Tuesday, you're going to begin to notice that air getting heavier, stickier. No question that you're going to feel it. And let's see how that translates to rain chances right here on my extended forecast going from a high of 64 and sunny for the most part today, 68 for Friday. There's that first chance for a couple of downpours on Saturday. And I really think it's early next week, Monday into Tuesday, where we're going to have our next opportunity to get some of those spring thunderstorms that were a bit more common back in April. Things have backed off as far as some of the stronger potential for thunderstorms, but I see it ramping up potentially again Monday night into Tuesday or Wednesday. So, let's watch that time frame closely.
Shouldn't be a surprise when you look at the heat that's returning. Look at Monday, stretching all the way up to 87°.
That's the latest on our 10-day forecast.
