The video elegantly frames human logic as a late-stage upgrade to an ancient emotional operating system. It’s a sharp reminder that we are feeling machines that occasionally think, rather than thinking machines that feel.

The Flaw in Human Logic追加:
Imagine a scenario. It's terrifying, but stay with me. You are on a train crossing a bridge over a river.
Suddenly, the train goes off the track and crashes into the river and starts sinking immediately.
Grab a hold of something.
>> You are with your spouse and your 11year-old daughter who is confined to a wheelchair. She cannot swim. She cannot move on her own. You have a split second to make a choice. Do you try to save yourself or do you give up your life to push your daughter through a window to safety?
There is no time to think. There is no time to calculate. What do you do?
This is the same situation Gary and Mary Jane Chansy was stuck in. But they didn't hesitate. They pushed their daughter Andrea to rescuers as the water rose. And as the train sank beneath the surface, they perished.
This is a moment of mythic courage, but scientifically it's a mystery. From a strictly logical perspective, self-preservation should be our strongest instinct. Then why did they choose entry over themselves? Why did love override logic? To answer that, we have to look at how our brains evolved.
And it turns out we were wired to feel long before we were wired to think.
Our brain wasn't as complex as it is now. It grew from the bottom up layer by layer over millions of years. The oldest part is the brain stem which evolved millions of years back. We share it with every animal that has a nervous system.
The brain stem is simple. It neither writes poetry nor does it solve math problems. It has one job, survival. It keeps you breathing and keeps your heart beating.
Then something interesting happened.
From the brain stem, the emotional centers emerged. Now you might think this is weird but the sense of smell formed the basis of our emotional life.
Early creatures depended on smell to decide is this food or poison, friend or enemy, mate or threat. In those primitive times, smell commended itself as a paramount sense for survival. With arrival of the first mammals came new and key layers of the emotional brain, often called the lyic system. This new layer gave animals a superpower, memory.
If a red berry made you sick last week, the lyic system remembered the smell and triggered disgust so you won't eat it again. This is where fear, desire, and rage were born. It was a system designed to label things as good or bad instantly.
Finally, about 100 million years ago, the nature added the neoortex. This is the part that thinks it expanded massively in humans, giving us art, civilization, strategy, and the ability to have feelings about our feelings. But here's the catch, and this is the most important part. Because the thinking brain evolved from the emotional brain, there are thousands of neural connections between them. In an emergency, the emotional brain can hijack the system.
Back on the train, Gary and Mary Jane didn't have time to use their neoortex.
They didn't weigh the cost and benefits.
Their ancient emotional brain wired for attachment and love took over instantly.
Emotional intelligence is not the opposite of intelligence. It is what makes intelligence human. It's about understanding that we evolve to think, but we evolve to love first. True intelligence is when your emotional and rational brain work together. Because in the moments that define us, logic isn't always enough.
