A hiatus fundamentally breaks the predictable mathematical rhythm of a content series, replacing the consistent 7-month average gap pattern with an open-ended pause that has no set return date, unlike regular season gaps which follow a predictable mathematical heartbeat.

Every Gap Between Seasons In The Life SeriesAdded:
I think we all know about the Life Series hiatus by this point, but what does that really mean? Does that mean that it's going to be an increasingly large amount of time before we ever see another Life Series, or could one be just around the corner, and Grian just didn't know what it was? Today, we're going to go through every single gap between the Life Series and analyze what makes them each different and what we have on our hands right now, especially with what seems like Grian teasing us with the idea of a potential one soon.
So, it seems a good a time as any to talk about what actually [music] happens between the Life Series, and mathematically, what we could expect.
Okay, so let's go through the Life Series timeline from the very beginning and look at the gaps between each season in the exact order that they happened.
This gives us the clearest picture of how the series naturally spaces itself out. We start with Third Life in April of 2021. The next season after that was Last Life, which arrived in September of the same year. That gap, from April to September, is just a little over 5 months, and that's actually the shortest gap the series has ever had between two main seasons. So, right out of the gate, the series started with its fastest turnaround. After Last Life, the next season was Double Life, which didn't show up until June of 2022. That's almost 9 months later. So, immediately after the shortest gap in the entire series, we jump straight into one of the longest. That's our first sign that the pacing isn't perfectly consistent at this point. It stretches and contracts depending on what's going on behind the scenes.
From Double Life to Limited Life, [music] the gap is also pretty long, a little over 8 months. Not quite as long as the last to double gap, but still on the slower end. So, at this point in the timeline, the series is taking its time.
Then, we move from Limited Life to Secret Life. That one is around 7 and 1/2 months. So, we're still in the longer range, but not as long as the previous two. After Secret Life, things speed up again. Secret Life to Real Life is only about 5 and 1/2 months. That's one of the quicker gaps. Not as fast [music] as the original third to last jump, but definitely on the shorter side. Then, real life to wild life is about 6 and 1/2 months. That's pretty much right in the middle. Not fast, not slow, just very typical life series gap.

You should do that. After wild life, we get to pass life. That one takes about 9 months again, putting it right up there with the longest gaps [music] the series has ever had. So, the pattern swings back towards the slower end. I personally think this might have been a developer thing, as pass life was definitely the most insane to develop between seasons. And finally, after pass life, we get nice. But nice is a special, not a main season. So, pass life is the last main season in the timeline, and the gap after it doesn't count towards the main season pattern.
So, when you look at the whole timeline, gap is just over 5 months, and the longest gaps [music] are around 9 months. And most of the series sits somewhere between 6 and 8 months. That's the natural [music] rhythm the series has followed since it started. Now, if we take all those gaps and average them together, we get a pretty clear number.
The series averages [music] out to roughly 7 months between main seasons.
That's the mathematical heartbeat of the life series. Some seasons come quicker, some take longer, but 7 months is the center of it all. So, when you look at the whole timeline, the shortest gap is just over 5 months. The longest gaps are around 9 months, and most of the series sits somewhere between 6 and 8 months.
That's the natural style the series has followed since it started. Then, we have to talk about the hiatus. After nice life, Green made it clear that the life series was officially on hold, and a hiatus kind of changes everything. A hiatus doesn't just delay the next season, it breaks the pattern completely. It means the usual 7-month rhythm doesn't matter anymore. The timeline stops being predictable, instead of following the math, the next season becomes something that happens whenever the hiatus ends, not whenever the numbers say it should. Now that we've talked about the hiatus itself, let's take a moment to look at what that word actually means in the broadest sense. If you go by the dictionary, a hiatus is defined as a break, a pause, or an interruption in continuity. It's when something stops for a while, but not permanently. It doesn't mean canceled. It also doesn't mean ended. It just means that the thing is taking a break with no set return date. And that's important because when people hear the word hiatus, they don't think of a specific length of time. They don't usually think, "Oh, that means 3 months." or that means a year. What the public usually understands is simply that the thing is paused. It's on hold.
Hey, hey, hey, get back in here. It'll come back when it comes back. A hiatus is open-ended by nature. It's a break with no countdown attached. So, with that in mind, let's look at how long it's actually been. Past Life came out on July 11th, 2025, which means it's almost been 11 months since the last main season started. And I'm going off starting dates for these. And Nice Life, the special that announced the hiatus, came out December 5th, 2025. From then until now, it's been just under 6 months. So, we're sitting in this interesting middle zone. If the series were following its normal rhythm, we would have already entered the normal window for a new season. But because the word hiatus was used, the normal rhythm doesn't necessarily apply. The clock isn't ticking the way it used to.
That's a Limited Life joke. Instead, we're in the open-ended space where the return happens, where the pause ends.
And going off of what hiatus means in general, not Grian specifically, just the public understanding of the word, the most reasonable guess is that the next season will happen when the break naturally resolves. That that could be soon because we're already past the usual timing, or it could stretch out longer because a hiatus doesn't promise anything, just says, "Not right now." But Grian can do whatever he wants. And what we as the fans should take from this isn't the same as what the dictionary says a hiatus means. So, what this means for the next season is up to you. My personal guess after this research is August, but I initially thought it'd be sooner. If you want to see why and why I think Green is working on it right now, check out this video on screen.
