Is 14.3.5 Tesla's Best Version of FSD? | First Impressions of Latest Tesla FSD

[00:00:05]This is uh Carter Drives. Um I do a lot of videos on uh Utah FSD or FSD, Tesla FSD in on Utah roads, canyons, etc. This video is going to be all about my initial impressions of the latest uh FSD version that just came out the other day. Um it is 14.35.

[00:00:27]Today I'm in a 2026 Tesla Model Y, my personal vehicle.

[00:00:33]I got it probably the day after I saw other people starting to get it. So, um, and really my question about this video today is, is this truly Tesla's best version of uh, FSD? Um, I dropped my wife off at the airport here, so I'm just navigating home as you can see. Um, they booted me off the the side pretty quick. I'm heading out right now.

[00:00:56]Thank you. Yeah, I just wanted to see if this truly is their best version yet. Um I've had the car since 14.2.2.5.

[00:01:05]So, um let's see if we can pick because guess we're taking Bangader home, which is probably the play. I 15 is pretty bad. So, already that's a good sign because I-15 southbound through Salt Lake City, if you know anything about it, is not great. especially here at 4:00 p.m. Um, starting around 3 3:30 it starts to get thick and then around 4 to 4:30 it's like stop and go at certain parts. So, uh, all the way till about 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. So, um, grateful for FSD picking a good route for us today.

[00:01:37]So, I I was able to use it on the way up uh, dropping my wife off the airport. I didn't have time to set everything up and and get my head together, but already I've noticed a couple of things.

[00:01:46]So, I guess you could call this a first impressions drive. So far today, what has happened is uh I did run a quick errand, got my wife some lunch. That's like a one mile each way, so like a two-ish mile roundtrip uh errand that I ran earlier. So, but even in just in that amount of time, I noticed uh first of all, stop signs were it seems like it's a little bit softer stopping. It's not like a full like where it hits the brake and then like settles and then goes. It was almost a little more preferable for me personally where it like technically stopped and it almost like it almost like was the electric motors just stopping it and it almost kind of like rolled back a tiny bit and then just went to me. It felt a little more seamless. It felt like it was a little more quick. Um and uh it was smooth. So, um which it's always been pretty smooth, but it was smoother than typical. And that was in like two stop signs or so, maybe three uh two stop signs on the way out of my house that I noticed it. Um, and then on the way back from that, um, I had noticed that pulling into the driveway, it has never been smooth. I have a pretty big dip.

[00:02:48]And, um, it took it at a different like 14.3 was pretty standard. Not the worst. It was doable, but you definitely got shaken in the car, whatever. 14.3 uh4 it like would pull in see the dip and it would like almost crank the wheel last second and then it would hit it at like even worse angle that would just absolutely toss you. So I found myself starting to disengage for that. Um and just you know or I would just have it pull over in front of my house and then I would just pull in the driveway which wasn't ideal either. Um and so that's you know that's if you wanted to keep your streak up which I'll I'll talk about that but you know I've kind of given up on the streak thing. Uh, I may have mentioned that in a previous video as well, but um, pulling in the driveway this morning, it like took a very natural angle, something like I would normally do, and it, you know, was maybe a little quick and it still has some improvements it could make. I would do it slightly differently, but it was totally doable and it was way better um, than it has been. And so, I was definitely appreciative of that. And on top of that, um, I had already opened the garage and I had someone like in the driveway. My driveway is tricky. You'll see, but I'll show you pulling in the driveway and, um, let you kind of see.

[00:04:04]Hopefully, it'll do the same thing again. So, the car could choose any which way. Not to mention, I have like a parking gravel parking lot like behind the shop. So, the car could have chosen to go around the shop, which it's done in the past. It could have chosen to pull um let's see in in to in front of the house garage which is here that had a car next to it which has done in the past and it could have cho chosen to just stop right next to the other car that was parked here um in front of the open garage and then my wife has a car in the garage. The car saw my open spot went around her walking loading her her dog into the back of her car curved in and went straight in the garage with with confidence that I've never seen.

[00:04:41]And so I know it's a long way to get to that point, but it went, you know, the stop signs were nice. It went through the dip uh and straight into the garage, which, you know, it's never done. And so it's made me wonder um you know, the patch notes don't say anything about it.

[00:04:55]There's rumors that you're going to have the ability to uh you know, select or save um like garage parking or driveway parking preferences at home or at work or things like that. Um, and I wonder if they're starting to implement, uh, some of those memory things because, um, I had right after the update, um, I was testing something else and I went just around my parking lot to see if I could make it work and it didn't work. So, that's neither here nor there.

[00:05:25]But, I did pull into the garage. Um, nice yellow light handling there. Didn't bug me at all. Just looked up, noticed it was hello, and went right through it.

[00:05:36]Um, just a little note there. We're in standard drive mode, by the way, today.

[00:05:40]Just wanted to make note of that. But, uh, oh man, I always do this. I get distracted, then I lose my train of thought.

[00:05:48]Oh, yeah. But the memory features, I wonder if they're starting to, uh, implement some of these memory features early on with like, you know, quietly behind the scenes without saying anything because, yeah, I did that little test thing last night and I did I did like nudge it into the garage. So, it pulled up. It was act like it was going to stop and then I gave it some gas pedal, nudged it all the way into the garage and then parked it. But yeah, I it seems like it was so confident just pulling in and um I don't know, just made me wonder if the memory feature is kind of there. So I'm tempted to stop if I have time, which I should. Um, I might try to stop and see if I park at uh if I park if I if I force it to park at the Smiths by my house, which has historically been a struggle. um see if it can do it and then um and then if not, maybe I'll try going back again to later tonight and see if it'll if it'll do it and add that to this video. Um to see if it gets any better the second time, like if it actually goes back and parks there um in in the right lot and everything. And so, which it has not been able to do. And this there's no like GPS data showing that the business is even there, that the parking lot's even there, and so it almost confuses the car. I have a whole another video I just released on that, but yeah, I hasn't been able to park there essentially since uh and so I want to see if I can maybe do that and try that. Um and just see that way I can kind of test if the if there is some sort of memory function. I guess I guess I could test that right now too by just uh driving to my house and see if it does the same thing with the garage open. If it if it pulls in. If it does twice in a row, then I would say that's the first time it's ever done that and that it's plausible. And then maybe I'll try later tonight going and parking by maybe what I'll do is I'll do like two trips. Maybe I'll go and I'll drive there, see if it does it. If it does what it's typically done, then um which I'm expecting that it will with a small point update like this, but who knows? Um and then maybe I'll leave and then I'll come back and see if it remembers the second time. Beyond that, oh yeah, the only other thing I was going to say is um which we seem to be sitting in the left lane quite a bit for being in standard mode to be honest. I'm just realizing I mean no one's really like behind me acting like they want to pass, but I'm just going to bump it over. Um maybe it knows that they're not. Yeah, I know they're they're starting to pass. So I definitely should have been out of that lane, but uh there's only like one car behind me. So anyway, um that's a little bit annoying for standard. Standard usually doesn't sit in the left lane. I don't know if that's changed or if the car is just figuring itself out again. I've said this in the past, too. And I feel like 24 hours after you do the update, you kind of get some weird stuff. So also, I don't know why it thinks it's 55 miles an hour here. It's not. It's 65. Um, and this is something I've I've sent multiple complaints or like update requests to Google Maps um, via the app on my phone to get them to try and fix and update the speed limits here because the car will go like off and on. So far, it hasn't, though. I will say, yeah, see the sign up here says 65. The car will register that it's 65. We'll see if this changes to be 65 like that.

[00:09:17]Shows 65 right there. 65 miles an hour.

[00:09:19]So the car saw it and the GPS doesn't update. 55 miles an hour. So that's Oh, now it just did. Okay, cool.

[00:09:27]Well, that's cool. But it's not going to change the speed that I'm going. So, I mean, it might go up 2 miles an hour, but doesn't seem like it. So, Oh, yeah.

[00:09:35]There we go. So, that should be pretty typical. That doesn't seem to have changed any. Um, but yeah, the only other thing that I noticed is it is way less naggy. Like, I noticed this initially uh going from 14.2 2.2.5 to 14.3, it definitely was le it was like a bit like noticeably less naggy. Come on over, buddy. And as soon as it went to 14.3, um I noticed like almost immediately it was it was like insanely less naggy, you know, like even with hat with like usually with my hat, I'll dip my head and like inevitably I'll end up like getting a warning and it'll say vision or whatever obstructed by hat. I haven't gotten that at all since like 14.3.

[00:10:19]Well, maybe like one time I dipped my head, I couldn't see my eyes and then it freaked out. But with or without sunglasses, day or night, I've noticed since 14.3 um that it's been less. 14.3.4 was like when I really noticed like a big difference. And then it still seems like I mean I don't know com now compared to 14.3 4 but on 14.3.5 that continues to be the case which is in the release notes talking about like better you know uh handling of like like eye detection face detection of the driver.

[00:10:53]So um that's to be considered I guess.

[00:10:57]Uh but no I've been I've been very I've been very impressed with with the lack of nagging. I'm g to turn the line down on this if I can. There we go. Um, Mini Cooper S. I've wanted one of those for a long time. I just think they're a fun little cars. Interesting price coming from a guy that looks like me. But, uh, supercharged or turbocharged. Either one I would I would take. Like I think they'd be a fun little like go-kart type track car, something like that, you know, just to rip around. Something about them. Anyway, uh but uh I noticed yeah, like 14.35 it seems to be the same and and it is much appreciated. Like I I haven't gotten a single like so far like hey make sure you touch the wheel or like hey whatever like with wearing hats with sunglasses without sunglasses. I haven't tried without a hat but obviously that should be even better.

[00:11:51]See right there it just hit the brakes because it thinks it's 50 now. It went to 60 now it thinks it's 50. It's clearly not. It's 65, but that's what I'm talking about. It just hit the brakes. And that's not FSD's fault. Now it's back to 65. I like they need to figure it out, you know. Um, but it's annoying because it'll sometimes is bad.

[00:12:09]It's like I'll be doing 72 and it'll like slam the brakes down to 65 and I'm like there's a car right behind me like I just got in front of them to pass this guy and then we hit this barrier. So, you can see how that becomes a mess.

[00:12:19]But, um, in that regard, it hasn't gotten any better. I guess 14.35 it's the same. Um, and so I don't know if that's a Utah specific thing. I'm sure that's people everywhere are dealing with the same issues. But, uh, if you're in Utah, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. Yeah. See, now it just did it again. It just dropped down a couple miles an hour cuz it thinks it's 60 right after we just passed the sign that says 65 miles an hour. Just went by. The car saw it. You probably saw it on the screen. It registered it. So, that all needs to get better. I will say on the way up to the airport, too, there was some construction on uh I 215. If you're from Utah, you know what I'm talking about. Going up towards the airport, there's construction and you have to take this exit. For some reason, the car got out of the exit only lane like last second. So, I had to like grab the wheel, take over. And then I marked it as critical cuz it's like that just can't happen. Like I would have had to do some crazy loop. I don't even know to get back to the airport. It would have wasted a bunch of time. Would have added stress to my wife's, you know, and mine, you know, but especially my wife's itinerary. So, uh, yeah, that that was not great. So, the I guess sign recognition or at least like taking the sign data. So, like says it again right there and it still thinks it's 60. The taking in the sign data and like actually making it something that the car actually uses and listens to. I mean, it might do it for like handicap signs and like maybe some other like no parking signs, but like it needs to be broader for sure. Um, so that still could be improved. Yeah, the speed limit thing is still no bueno. Um I'm sure I I feel like I left off on something that I was talking about, but I don't know.

[00:13:55]It's probably the memory thing, but um Oh, it's nagging. Yeah, it's talking about nagging, I tell you. Uh so yeah, the nagging has been way less.

[00:14:06]It's been way nice. Like I've been able to relax like even in here doing this whatever or like if I've like I was like my my wife was uh she bought some new shoes. So, in the car, I just grabbed your box and like held it while watching through her while she was in it, put it in the back seat. And uh I feel like normally it would be like, "Keep your hands, you know, available, whatever, like, you know, pretty quickly." And it didn't seem to care, you know? I mean, my hand I had one hand on the box and one hand like over here, so maybe you could see, but like usually it's been weird about that. Or even sometimes when my phone's like sitting in my lap face down and I have like a one hand on it just like relaxing like got in the car, didn't think anything of it. Uh there's times where it has uh said like, "Oh, you got to keep both hands available for, you know, steering." And I'm like, "Oh, yeah. I didn't even, you know, realize it's there." Whatever. So, um I'll have to maybe test that in a more secluded thing when I have my wife in the car and she can like, you know, she can be the one that can grab the wheel if needed and uh just see, you know, how long it really does. But I I feel like it really has been um very chill, very much better. And like when I have been messing with the screen, it seems like I can go way longer messing with the screen without it bugging me uh compared to before. And that's where I'm noticing the most, honestly. So, um yeah, those are the main things that I've seen. So far, the the drive has been really nice.

[00:15:29]It's been smooth. The car feels great, feels confident. The only issues that I've had thus far are the weird construction thing that's been construction up there for a bit that it, you know, should know by now. Um, and uh, the speed limit signs, you know, uh, those are honestly like navigation, speed limit, handling.

[00:15:48]Those are like my main and parking are like the top three things that I've been annoyed by. But, uh, other than that, the car feels really good. It feels confident. I would say, you know, if this one comes across your plate, definitely update, you know, just go ahead and update and do it. I noticed 14.3.4, everyone was saying like, oh, there's no phantom breaking, there's no bird breaking, blah blah blah. I definitely had some experiences where it would or 1403.3 it didn't. So, I don't know if that's just like a species of bird that we have that or don't have that they do have. Maybe our birds are smaller here. I don't know. You know, we've got a lot of birds here, so can't really imagine that being the the case.

[00:16:24]But, uh, but yeah, um, it has been it has been great so far.

[00:16:32]And, you know, just like last night, the few times I've driven it, um, I have no reservations thus far. So, um, the whole way up there, I did we did stop, like I said, at a Shields to get rid of those shoes and all that was great. Parking lot was great.

[00:16:48]So, um, yeah, no real issues or concerns there. I would just say go ahead and get it. Uh the other thing I was going to talk about too is the streak 20.7 mile streak. Um I personally have kind of given up on the streak thing. I I understand why they implemented it. Um I think it's a good idea to try and get people to let the car do what it's going to do. Uh and it did that for me for a while. My best streak was like 175 miles or something like that. 177 miles I think. I can probably tell you actually longest streak if it'll show here. 170.5 that's what it was. Um but uh 92% we'll talk about it.

[00:17:35]uh 170 mi streak and it went away because of something really dumb. Like I think I like bumped the wheel with my leg or something, disengaged. And uh but at that point I realized like it's kind of silly like I'm letting the car do things that I wouldn't normally do or let it do um or things that I wouldn't do when I'm driving. And to me that is kind of a waste of information. Um, but also I I see how it like forces you up to that edge where um you know, you have to then decide like, oh, okay, you know, I'm letting the car do as much as possible, so I'm only going to disengage when I um absolutely have to. And so I I didn't I thought initially it was like to kind of just gify it, but I've kind of realized it's it's more than that. And um and so I'm no longer just like letting the car do dumb stuff. if I think it's more valuable that they get the information that they need. Um, and uh, I've turned off like the game portion of my mind. I figured I'd try that first, see how it goes. And that's what I thought it really was kind of for, you know, uh, and then just realized, yeah, it's a waste of of or it's a waste opportunity essentially um, of information. So, uh, that they could be getting about the to make the experience better. And so, I don't know, mixed feelings about it. I I hope that's how other people are are using it, but I've been disengaging and marking the thing every time. And uh hopefully that leads to a better experience for all of us. Um I also think it's silly that everyone's complaining about the uh like this the pop-up that doesn't go away. I see both sides of it. Like it's a feature I'm paying for. I should have the ability to turn it off. And I do agree with that. I do still think that's the case. Um, but I also think it's kind of silly that you're in a car that literally drives for you. The least you can do is like push a button to help better that experience to make the progress go faster. Um, like people talking about, you know, hooking their phone up to Bluetooth and leaving a microphone app on so that it can't do the pop-up. I'm like, that's way more complicated than just pushing the button the one time maybe in your drive that you have to disengage for parking, you know?

[00:19:54]Um, so anyway, I I think it's it's all a bit silly and um but that said, I'm just going to I'm going to stop here. I'll catch you back in the driveway.

[00:20:08]Yeah, that was way better. And it slowed down, too. Okay, garage is open. Let's see if it will pull in. If it does it twice in a row, it's definitely an improvement. Okay, not today. So, maybe I'm wrong about the memory thing, but usually I'll nudge it like this, and then it'll pull the rest of the way in.

[00:20:27]I have to pardon the mess. I'm in the middle of swapping an engine on uh a twin turboed BMW 335i.

[00:20:35]Um I've got two of them in here. One over there that's going to be uh my fun car. Let's see. That should be good.

[00:20:41]Yeah, we're in. Uh and then I've got the one over here that is uh was going to be my daily till I bought this. So, um, but regardless, I'm still building it the way that I intended. Um, this engine you see here has new rod bearings and, um, I'm putting some upgraded turbos on. So, twin turbos, doing bigger single or bigger twins on it and custom tune and all that. So, that one's automatic all-wheel drive. The one that I'm doing a big single turbo on swap uh, on is uh, going to be the one I end up keeping, and it's a six-speed manual. So, the driveway thing's better for sure based off of my three or so experiences uh of it pulling in the driveway. Now, it didn't pull in the driveway, but it acted like it was going to. It's pretty confident. I've debated putting some lines down. Maybe I'll do a video of that trying to get it to just like recognize it. I mean, I think it's kind of silly like for my driveway at least, you know, pulling up and like am I really going to pull up like almost pulling in my driveway, push a button, and let it do the rest? Like, I don't really care for that. I care more for, hey, the garage is open and uh and you see the spot and you park all the way in the spot. You know, I see more value in that like FSD just doing it end to end than me pulling up and pushing a button. I I think that's just kind of silly. It's it's it's a it's a cool feature, I guess, but it's to me it's gimmicky. um it doesn't really make your life that much easier if you have to do 90% of the work and then let it do the last, you know, or 98% and then let it let it do the last 2% or 1% even. So, um anyway, that's uh that'll be it for right now. I'm going to do probably do some night driving tonight, too, and just see how it handles that. Um last night, I had one weird thing happen and it might have been a fluke, but I'd like to get some more that said I'd like to get some more like nighttime driving in.

[00:22:33]um just to kind of see how it handles that as well. That way you get kind of a variety cuz I feel like sometimes the nighttime stuff is worse or the nighttime stuff will be better or blah blah blah. So, um just the way the the car handles like reflections or lights coming in and out, maybe the windshield's a little dirty, blah blah blah. So, um I like to try that too because daytime's great, but that's also the easiest for the car. So, um yeah, I will quit yapping. I will catch you this evening when I'm driving around uh running a couple errands. I'm gonna try to go over to Smith's and um see if we can park there if it'll remember that.

[00:23:11]Maybe I'll do two loops on that. So far, it's great though. Um no reservations.

Um got a stop sign, couple of stop signs right out the gate just to kind of test again. Um you know, 14.35 here. Uh the stopping at the stop signs thing. Um it's uh after midnight here, so uh I'm up at night as grandma used to say. So, um, and, uh, yeah. So, let's go ahead and get started. Hey, Grock.

[00:24:12]>> Cool beans. Hope you can see me. All right. Just got this one cabin light on here. Um, hopefully it's not too bad for the GoPro, but should be good. Um, so yeah, I don't know. So, it's it's really smooth. I don't know how to explain it.

[00:24:25]Um, it's not as like stop and like you settle and then go. It's like you almost just like I think they call like a limousine stop where like it's really smooth and you like almost don't know that you stopped and then it goes. So, I don't know. Just a small thing that I've noticed on this update that I feel like changed uh at like 14.3 probably. Um, and so see here we go again. See how it Yeah, it's like it's like it it like it stops and then it like neutrals and then goes. This is always a tricky turn here.

[00:25:01]So, that was good. Um, very confident, especially at night. Um, it's kind of a hill right there. And it's an unprotected left, I guess you'd call it.

[00:25:12]So, high likelihood that uh you high likelihood that you could get into an accident essentially or like it's a difficult turn for FSD or for even humans to make. Um there's a lot of times that I just won't even turn out on this road unless I go all the way down to this light up here. Not this one, but the next one. Um because during if it's busy enough, you'll get stuck sitting there forever.

[00:25:37]So, it's a busy enough road that that Yeah, that's a tricky turn. So, anyway, it handled it well. Um, I've also noticed the last uh at 14.3.4, I noticed the red light uh or the yellow light handling almost seemed a little better, like it was a little more confident. Um, prior to that, I've had a couple of times where it like debated like uh like stop, go, stop, go. Um, and ever since this update or last update, uh, it seems like it's way more confident. So, that is really nice. Um, other than that, I'm not having any issues. I had one issue last night where I don't know if it was glary or what, and I probably maybe I'll take that road later, but um, just try it. Uh, I'll do that on the way back. But I want to see because I've driven over here since the update now. Um, this is where my errand was the other night. I want to see if if it'll remember where uh like I parked or anything like that.

[00:26:42]Like if there's any other hints. It didn't go into the driveway or like it went into the driveway. Well, it didn't go into the garage uh all the way like it has in the past. So, um I'm kind of second guessing maybe my thoughts originally, but um hopefully I mean it's not looking good as far as nav goes, but you never know when you get to the lot it might change its mind on how it gets there or where it parks, but it'll be interesting to see what it does for sure.

[00:27:12]And it always like debates on if it should cut into that lane there or go straight and then turn. I always will cut into that lane because otherwise people go flying up and then you got to cut them off or whatever like right here to turn. So I like to get there ahead of time and it seems to do it half the time. So okay, so we're turning left. I would typically go straight and just boom, you're there. That's Smith. That's your parking lot. But we'll see what it decides to do today.

[00:27:40]But man, like it just it feels smooth.

[00:27:42]It's so confident. It does so well. Like 14.2.2.5 2.5. I remember there being definitely some times where I was like, the car doesn't feel very confident.

[00:27:53]It's second guessing itself. Okay, we're turning into here.

[00:27:57]It's never done this before. It parked right there. Just right there yesterday or when was that? Earlier today. I I don't remember this point. I've been all over the place. But so it might be parking in the parking lot.

[00:28:16]So now I'm I'm curious if it parks here.

[00:28:19]Why would it park here now and not have parked here pulling in forward to it, which we haven't seen?

[00:28:28]That's perfect parking job. Honestly, really couldn't be better. Let's see if that's visible enough. But yeah, I mean that's that doesn't get better than that. That's a perfect park job. So, man, it's just it's just hitting all the winds and that's really smooth for a night like well I say for a nighttime drive. Nighttime drives are also have always have been pretty good. Also, I did relocate this up if you've seen my other videos. Um I had it down here before and it worked really well, but the clamp I had kept coming loose and so and I couldn't adjust my mirror to where I want it. So, um having it up here works really well. It's a little cleaner. Wire stuck up in. and I switched the wire from this side to this side. Blah blah blah. I'm not what this video is about, but there you have it.

[00:29:09]Yeah. I mean, that was perfect. I mean, Smiths is we're here. I'm at Smith's.

[00:29:13]So, 143.5.

[00:29:15]I mean, now I'm I'm I'm curious. Is there some type of memory that they're implementing? Like, is it remembering now a little bit? I don't know. It's I mean, that's super interesting. So, um the other day it parked there. It parked back here.

[00:29:32]this direction, however you want to see it. And then it it parked over there.

[00:29:37]But that's interesting that it would do it better this time. So maybe again, maybe is it seeing it? Is it like, you know, I I don't know. I don't know why this would be different when it would just literally do loops during the day. I don't know if that's map data, traffic data, something interfering.

[00:29:54]That's interesting. Anyway, I'm going to navigate. This is where I had the issue the other day. I'm going to navigate here and then while I talk and uh let's see. So, this is a little interesting. I would have just gone that way, but we'll see which way it wants to go out. That's super curious. It's talking about a roundabout. It's almost been going all the way around to the roundabout over here, which is crazy.

[00:30:26]So, I'll show you exactly why.

Uh, obviously I'm clearly distracted a bit, but um, let's see if it'll go straight. Historically, it has not gone straight through here because it doesn't know that that road exists. I mean, clearly that's the route to go, right? So, yeah. No, it's not going to take it. It's not going to just literally go straight there. It's going to backtrack. So, and that's where I'm curious like if they're implementing some type of memory stuff now, like where it's starting to remember things. Uh, I don't know what it's remembering or maybe where it's like that where it's like, hey, we don't really have great map data. You're parking somewhere that we don't know. Oh, let me better turn this back on. Um, and then maybe it remembers that. I don't know. Um, I don't know if that's uploading to any Tesla database or um I I heard someone talking about that they have some something that they use for like closed roads and I wonder if they use that. Uh, it might just be for construction traffic, but anyway. Um, yeah. I mean, we could be at the light.

[00:31:54]I mean, maybe we're at the same Oh, yeah. See, that's weird. It doesn't like this spot either. So, if it comes out any earlier, it won't cross this thing right here to get into the left turn lane. So, that was funny. It's must not understand like that's And that's not super common. Like, you see it here, but it's not I mean, there's one there, too.

[00:32:12]It's not super common in Utah to have a weird gapped closed off lane like that, but for some reason right there it trips it up. Um I mean it's common, but it's not typical if that makes sense. Like like you see them, but they're not everywhere. So I wonder if the car just thought that that lane was closing. I don't know. So by the way, I love these adaptive headlights with the like pixel shut off. I don't know what you call it.

[00:32:37]I can't remember what they call it, but like where it's brights and then, you know, blocks out the you'll see like the cutouts for the pixels that it turns off in the headlight or the the lights.

[00:32:47]Yeah, just like that. Um to block out from brighting, you know, blinding the people in oncoming. But then like the car sees pedestrians on the sides of the road, deer, like all that stuff way better. So anyway, getting back to what I talking about. I'm trying to get better at not getting on getting off on like tangents all the time and getting, you know, distracted and forgetting what I was saying. But but yeah, I'd be super interested to see if there's memory um attached to any of it or keep trying this. I'm going to what I'm going to do is I'm going to navigate up here, stop, and then like have it park and then I'm going to navigate back to Smith and come down this road because going this way is where it had issues uh last night. Yeah.

[00:33:30]Um this is the route that I went. So, um, but no, it would be pretty cool to start seeing some of this stuff improve over here. This is stuff that I do every day.

[00:33:42]It's been around for a while. I've said it probably this video already, but that place has been there for about a year now, open, and like there's just not map data. So, they need to figure out whatever handshake between map data and uh like the uh neural networks like slash AI with the cameras thing. So that needs to be better for sure.

[00:34:09]And on 14.3.4 I think it was, we got this thing where the navigation pops up and um it shows us what we're doing when we get to our destination. I like that because there's times where it's been random and it like doesn't randomly will decide it wants to park on the street in front of my house.

[00:34:29]hasn't done that in a while. Um, but it would do it on 14.2.2.5 all the time.

[00:34:35]Um, let's see. Well, you can't freaking tell, but it was a good park job. Um, it did a good job. So, um, hey Grock, navigate to Smiths.

But, uh maybe I'll do a video on how I wash my car with the uh the pure PPF with the ceramic coat built in. But anyway, um that's lovely.

[00:35:40]Well, and the windshield's not very clean at the moment, but that's hilarious that that sprinkler is spring across the street. But the guy on that side of the road's loving it, saving on his water bill. Didn't have to water his front strip cuz the city's watering it for him. Maybe he's the one who went over and uh maybe he's the one over there and went there. Went over there just the sprinkler had to water his lawn across the street. That'd be crazy. Um anyways, right up here. Oh, there's a cat running across. Nice. No, I mean that's a ways off, but still nice to not have like a phantom breaking event from that. Um it was like right here. So maybe it's that crosswalk that freaked it out. It almost felt like it was going to do something there.

[00:36:56]Um, but it is nice for me. I use it to just like this will be like, "Hey, there's a cop." I double check my speed.

[00:37:02]Sometimes I'm in the wrong, you know, whatever. I've accidentally hit this to be, you know, in hurry or something like that or standard when I'm meant to be in um, chill mode. So, sorry brain doing other things while I'm talking, but um, navigation looks the same so far. Yeah.

[00:37:19]See, it always kind of like What do I do? When it's really busy, it always goes over there for sure, which is nice.

[00:37:24]Especially if I'm getting on the freeway up here, but um uh dagam. See, I did it again.

[00:37:33]Losing my train of thought, but um it'll come to me at least when I'm in the middle of some other making some other point. I don't know. I feel like it was important. Maybe it wasn't. That's how I always feel. It's going to turn in right here again. Okay.

[00:37:50]It's probably going to do the same thing. But that's that's so funny that it's not going down and looping. You know what? They they have that parking lot closed today. They relured it. I wonder if that's why it's doing it. But how would it know? Is that that like there's like some like traffic network or something. I can't remember what they called it in video I was watching today, but um they were saying that like it updates and like Tesla Maps uses it along with Google to like update closed roads. And so I kind of wonder okay picking a different spot. So I don't know, maybe somebody who's watching this can explain to me, but like I don't know why it would pick that spot over that, you know, this spot over that spot doing the same thing back to back. But uh I don't know if that's just the neural network. Like the AI takes over in the parking lots. I don't know.

[00:38:41]But it also seems like it doesn't because there's no map data, but like the AI could see that like, hey, this is a parking lot. Like clearly there's a parking lot here, so let's park in it.

[00:38:51]So, I don't know. Um I really want to I really want to um trying to remember the point that I was making earlier. You're probably watching this like freaking out. There you have it. really like it's done. Great. I'm going to navigate home actually here. Um, if you don't know, you can you can go here and you can drag down on this and it'll navigate home.

[00:39:15]Just a quick cut. It actually navigates to whatever it thinks you're headed. So, typically for me, it's home, but uh this morning it thought I wanted to go to like the work the location I have saved as work. So, the more you know. But let's see what it's going to do this time. Okay. Yeah. So, we're going out a different way, but we're going to ultimately do the same thing. And we could go right there. We could go kind of through there, right? And then out. We could turn down turn right at the stop sign. Um, also, I'll show you here. 14.3.

[00:39:48]Ever since then, you can't like suggest where you want to go. And that's one thing that I do miss about 14.2. And like, see, like it'll just turn off.

[00:39:57]Like, no matter how many times I hit it, it'll just ignore it and be like, "No."

[00:40:01]Um, and I understand that. I think that's Tesla just trying to say, "Hey, we want to um we want you to trust the car. Like the car is making the decisions now. We need the data for that." And it and it it seems like a pretty clear, you know, next step up from where 14.2 two was where you can kind of give it some direction uh to being like nope like we want to see what the cars do, what the data does, if there's, you know, people intervening um disengaging whatever uh more often for things like that. So, it makes sense for Tesla to get more data from that.

[00:40:38]So, signaling over to here. Let's see if it Okay, so it did that better this time. So, yeah. Um, small differences there back to back. Kind of an interesting test for you to see. But I do want to see if the car will um park in my garage. Um, rather. So, while we're sitting at a light, I'm going to get that ready to go. That way, I can just push the button. Um, I've got it set up as a shortcut on a smart garage.

[00:41:10]I'm working on a workaround for the MyQ thing. I mean, my key works really well, but I'm annoyed by it because I can't use Siri shortcuts. Um, and so I'd love to be able to tell my phone to open the garage and close the garage. Currently, you can't. And I could with uh with this thing. It's a Mi Ross brand thing. Maybe I'll put that in the description. It's a smart Wi-Fi opener that connects to Google and uh Apple HomeKit and stuff like that. The only problem is I don't have the like $200 home thing. Uh, and I I currently have Google stuff in my house. So, I don't really have any reason to go buy a single Apple HomeKit just so that I can open my garage with with my phone like from voice. So, I mean, I probably should just pay for the MyQ thing. It's already built into my garage. Um, and it does work really well natively in the Tesla app. Um, so that is nice, but uh I would like something better. I'm just kind of annoyed with my queue. Let's see if it pulls into the driveway a little nicer. Yeah, man. We're getting bangers.

[00:42:14]We're three, four for four now uh on pulling into the driveway nicely. So, let's see. I nudged it in last time with the accelerator.

[00:43:01]Sorry, that's pretty vague. explain to me how like when the neural network is is doing its thing. I mean, from what I understand, the neural network has something to do with like the way that the AI computers are learning from watching like footage from um FSD users.

[00:43:20]So, uh I don't know if that's just the learning process or if it's something that the car actually uses um or both.

[00:43:27]So, I guess I'm a little hazy on that.

[00:43:28]I'll probably do some reading on it anyway. But anyway, I I'll quit boring you with this uh conversation. But yeah, if you want to enlighten me, clearly I need it. Uh as you can tell, um I would appreciate some greater understanding on, you know, when the neural network's being used or like, you know, how it's being used. If it's always if it's just when you're in, you know, parking lots and it's not just relying on I don't know. I'd like to understand all that a little bit better. Anyway, um I'll quit rambling. I hope that this is insightful to you. Uh it's been really cool to see how smooth and confident it feels. I remember 14.3.3 being very much more like sharp and like assertive. Um, and that continues to be the case and uh, you know, I just really enjoy it. It it does a great job. And then also, if you have 14.3.5, what are your thoughts?

[00:44:13]Have you ran into any issues? Um, is there anything that I'm skipping or missing out on? What are you guys' thoughts on it? Is it better? Is is it truly the best version of FSD yet? And in my opinion, I'll say yes. I I think it is very clearly the best version of FSD yet. So, um, thanks for watching this you guys.
