Sony has publicly acknowledged that Chinese and Korean game studios are outperforming Western and Japanese studios in terms of development pace, scale, and responsiveness to customer needs, while Sony's own projects like Marathon and Concord have resulted in significant financial losses, prompting the company to recognize that Asian studios are better positioned to meet evolving market demands.

Sony PANICS After Losing BILLIONS On Western Slop, ADMITS Korean/Chinese Studios Are The Future!? 🤣Added:
Over the past few years, Sony has quadrupled down on woke Western slop.
They thought Marathon was going to make them billions, and it hasn't. They thought Concord was going to make them billions, and it hasn't. And we just found out that they've lost Stellar Blade sequel, but now Sony is having to admit some Chinese and company studios are moving way faster than Western ones, and you love to see it. I have a few different things to show off, but before I get into the topic, if you enjoy the content I create, check out the links in the description. and join the community and my live streams and consider supporting through Patreon or YouTube memberships. Now, Sony is one of the Japanese companies that has lost their way over the years. They have focused so heavily on chasing a global audience that they have not made the products that made them popular in the first place. When they moved to California, we knew that they were cooked. And now they're having to see other companies surpass them in terms of customer popularity. And sure, they do currently make the most money in the video game industry, but if they continue to lose billions upon billions on slop, they're not going to hold that position for very long. So, Sony has commented on the scale and responsiveness of Chinese and Korean studios, comparing them to Western and Japanese studios. Some interesting details about Sony and PlayStation are surfacing in a new interview. We have already been informed of the reasons for charging the 30% commission fee as well as the CEO's description of PlayStation as a plastic box without content. We have now been informed of their opinions on Chinese and Korean studios, which is absolutely wild. that you are saying that PlayStation is a plastic box without content even though you're charging hundreds of dollars. If you want a PS5 Pro with the drive and a couple of games or even the Elite controller, or I think PlayStation calls it the Edge controller, you're talking upwards of 1,000, which is wild. Sony says Chinese and Korean studios are showing an approach not seen from Western and Japanese teams. Yeah, because you guys have not listened to your customers in over a [ __ ] decade. Japanese studios had done so well for so long because gamers were looking away from the Western world of entertainment. We wanted something new and unique and special. And so, Japan was there to interest us. whether it was anime and manga and their themes that they put into video games, the experiences they were putting out into the world. But over the years, so many Japanese companies have chased this global audience trend. They have tried to make bank off of ESG and DEI initiatives. None of that's worked. And now they're facing the consequences of their own actions. And sure, there are Korean studios that are not great. There are Chinese studios that are not great, but they have a very good track record right now. In a new interview with the game business, the VP of second and third party content ventures and strategic initiatives at SIE discussed the Chinese and Korean studios approach.
He stated that the pace at which the Chinese and South Korean teams are working is astonishing and the scale and the responsiveness in their approach is something that we're not necessarily seeing from our western or even Japanese teams. The Sony sort of machine in general, just like Xbox and even Nintendo to a certain extent, has not listened to their customers, have not been delivering high quality consistent experiences and they are chasing social trends. And so when you're releasing lower quality content at a higher price, you are not listening to your customers and people feel slighted and betrayed.
We are going to look to other markets.
Over the years, we've seen Shift Up do amazing with things like Nikkay and Stellar Blade. We have seen Neoiz pump out releases like Lies of P. Phenomenal title. If we look at China, we have Wu Chang Fallen Feathers. We have Blackmth Wukong. All games that people remember fondly and rate very highly. Spenson added that the content the teams are receiving from these studios is very different than the stuff that we've seen before, at least on PlayStation. He even talked about how it is interesting to see what their trends and trajectories are relative to western dev communities as there is a different dynamic in Chinese and Korean studios. Now we get into the very bad news about the money that Sony has lost. Marathon's failure to deliver has had a massive impact on Sony and Bungie with a 765 million impairment loss being recorded. What's crazy about this is anybody with half a brain could have told you that Bungie was not worth $3.6 billion. And anybody with half a brain could have told you that Firewalk Studios and the Concord failure in general should not have had more than $500 million dumped into it.
People do not want this content. People have been telling you that they do not want woke content. People do not want loweffort slop. People do not want live service. People do not want these experiences that you've constantly doubled down on. And even looking at games going forward like Naughty Dogs Intergalactic, The Heretic Profit, that's going to lose a [ __ ] ton of money. You don't have franchises and IPs to rely on that maybe a few years ago looked really promising. Like Ghost, for example. Ghost of Tsushima came out. It did wonderful and it seemed like they were going to have a new hot IP on their hands. Ghost of Yote came out and with all of the controversy that surrounded that, a lot of people were not very amused. And going forward, if they made a third game, perhaps some people would be willing to give it a shot. But I do think that they've lost a lot of the fans that loved the first experience based on the people that they hired, the activists that were behind that, the way they marketed that experience, the way they responded to fan criticism online.
And it really doesn't look good. And sure, I think that again, Chinese and Korean studios have had failures in the past. I do think that some of their monetization models are certainly not that great, but those types of games have been releasing less and less, and we've seen more high quality singleplayer experiences launch over the past few years from them, and they really are picking up where Japanese and Western studios have fallen off, which I think is very cool. And I am curious to see if the Sony's really start to [ __ ] panic now that people are maybe giving up on them a little bit more than they had even a few years ago. So, taking a peek at the Insider Gaming post on X about this, there are a lot of people saying that's why PlayStation needed more studios outside of the USA because salaries are so expensive and development is so slow. Look at Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, 41 million cost.
Expedition 33, 10 million. Makes sense.
I mean, look at Naughty Dog. PS5 is already 6 years old and comes this fall and they haven't released a new game all generation. I wonder why, Sony. I wonder why. What are they doing right and better than the Western devs? And they're creating much better games.
Pearl Abyss is a great example, constantly updating the game with huge updates every week with community requested features. Western studios are kind of lazy and they're getting paid much higher. While Western developers are busy with their political ideology, conflict, human right [ __ ] working hours, etc., and social justice, South Korean and Chinese devs just do their job, per usual. I believe this with ease. Blackmmith Wukong 2 coming soon.
This is going to be great. And because they make lower quality games. So, I have been covering topics like this a lot on the channel. when indies thrive, when Chinese studios and South Korean studios thrive, and I will continue to do so. But now, it looks like Sony might be panicking a little bit over the serious competition that they now have.
But that's all that I really had to discuss in this video. Let everyone know your thoughts in the comments below. If you found this important and informative, make sure to give it a like, share it, and subscribe to the channel. And if you didn't, give it a dislike. I appreciate your support either way, but I'll talk to you all again in the next video really soon.
