Metal detectors work by emitting electromagnetic fields that interact with metallic objects in the ground, producing different audio tones that indicate the type and size of metal detected; users can adjust sensitivity settings and filter out unwanted metals like nails by using the notch function to exclude specific metal categories from detection.

IKIU Metal Detector | Introduction & FREE Giveaway | Ready to Go for Relic Hunting & TreasuresAdded:
So guys, yeah, welcome back. Today, we're here to talk about a metal detector. Uh this is a great piece of kit, and I'm also going to be giving this away. So, at the end of the video, if you were interested in maybe, you know, taking up some metal detecting and getting out there and doing something pretty fun, then stay tuned till the end of this video for your chance to win.
This is a no BS, you don't have to pay shipping, you know, this isn't you have to be subscribed, although that would be nice, but you don't have to. Um so, yeah, in here I have a metal detector by a company called IQU or IKIU. I may be pronouncing that wrong, so pardon me, and thank you to the company for letting me try this out and showing it all to you. Now, I would be keeping this um if I didn't already have a couple of metal detectors that I currently use. If I didn't, I would be keeping this all day. I took it out of the box. I'll show you how the box came cuz this is what I'll be shipping to you. So, this is the box that it came in. There will be links down below, so if you want to check, you know, exact specs and measurements and all that kind of stuff, you know, I would suggest, you know, actually check out the link so you can see um you know, some of the answers to some of the questions I may not be uh showing you right here. Basically, what I'm going to do is I'm going to put it together. We're we're going to go over its features. We're going to use it a little bit, and then I'm going to tell you how you can either get yours for free, or if you want to look down in the link below and maybe make a purchase.
This is not a paid review. This is not an affiliate link. They gave me the metal detector so I could show it to you.
And uh yeah, let's get into it. I basically brought it completely unassembled, you know, so that's another good thing. If you don't want to be walking through the woods or wherever it is that you happen to be going, you can easily pack it down into a pack even smaller than this. This is just the one I happen to be using, but there's a whole metal detecting uh system right in here and I can't wait to show it to you.
I currently am at a campground.
So, you want to go where the people go.
Let's see what we have. So, I'm going to take absolutely everything out, lay it all out so you can see it, and then we're going to put it together, go over for it, and then use it.
All right. So, there's everything basically laid out. Uh I know it looks a little a bit messy right now, but I'm just going to show you everything that you get that came in the box. Okay?
You're going to get a pair of headphones, and this just plugs into the unit, so when you're out there, you don't have to announce that uh you know, you're doing metal detecting. You'll be able to hear the beeps quietly and no one else will be able to hear them. So, you have your headphones. Okay? So, I'm going to just set those aside.
All right. [snorts] You have the actual unit itself where it tells you you know, your your menu screen. This is your menu screen right here.
I will send it just as you see it, all protected.
Okay? Let me just put that aside.
So, we'll we'll talk about that in a second.
Oops.
You get the the handle.
So, there's a handle right there.
You get the little armrest. This is something that goes you know, behind your arm as you're using the metal detector for comfort.
You have a couple of fittings right here that you're going to use to attach it together.
You have It's your coil.
Really tough high-grade plastic right there.
And your cord that you're going to wrap around the bar or the unit itself.
It does come with instructions, although I didn't even look at the instructions to put it together. It was that easy. It was that easy. And it also came with two 9-V batteries that I put in the back of the machine right here, okay? And I'm not even going to peel off the plastic.
You'll do that when you receive it, okay?
So, the batteries just go right into the back as you see right here.
Pretty self-explanatory. It came with two 9-V batteries, and I am going to leave them in there.
But when you are storing this for long periods of time, I would suggest that you don't leave the batteries in there.
You know, with anything that takes batteries, actually. All right, let's get that back in there. And there you go.
So, let's put it together.
There's a couple of key features that I absolutely love about this metal detector that I don't even have on my own. And this is you're ready to go with this unit. All right, so let's just get the bar together.
Okay, we're going to put this in here.
All right.
Tighten it up.
The handle and this little metal little bead just goes right in.
See that little metal piece right there?
You're just going to do that.
And then boom, pops into place.
Looks like a pressure washer.
The arm piece, that goes right on this part right here.
It's really easy.
Just put it right in.
And then screw the little fitting right in there.
And that's that right there.
Right in there.
And this is adjustable in height, so if you have like really long arms, you can raise it up a little bit.
Okay, we're in.
Okay. So, as you can see So, now we're just going to put the unit onto this right here.
Little slots.
Little slot right there. You want to put it down to where you can be reading it, so just kind of goes right in.
And then push it back to lock into place.
It's a little awkward, but you can do it.
Put it right in.
I don't even know if you can see that, right there.
And then slide it back.
And then underneath here, you're just going to secure that in.
Boom.
Coming together nice, right?
So, this is how it'll be.
Now, let's get the coil on the bottom right here. Another easy step. And as you can see, this just feeds right in right there.
And then we're going to screw it in.
And I'll show you how the orientation is supposed to be, but let's get that together.
And get that in there.
All right. Now obviously this is just going to feed on through. So the it's portable. You know, you don't have to be traipsing around you you know, with the whole unit over your shoulder or anything like that. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you know, you don't have to. You can just pack it down and put it together when you need it.
All right, let's see. The orientation is going to go this way.
Let's get it in there.
All right, there we go. We got it lined up. Get that in there.
All right, we're in.
And then screw the other little piece to hold it into place.
So now all this extra cord, don't wrap it so tight to where you can't move the coil around. So just a couple of times around the pole.
And then you're going to plug it in right into that spot right there on the back of the unit. And if you're going to use the headphones, you would plug them into that hole over here. So it's pretty self-explanatory.
You're just going to take this part right here and put it into the back of the machine.
And you're ready to go.
And this is adjustable.
Everything's adjustable on it.
All right, so this is what we're looking like.
Now I want to straighten this out obviously so the coil is straight.
And it should look like this.
The coil facing out.
This or behind your arm.
And the unit looking up so you can look down.
All right, let's turn it on.
This is what the main unit looks like.
I'm not taking off the plastic. That's something that you can have the satisfaction um of taking off as this is a giveaway item. Very simple menu, power.
All right, so it beeped a couple of times and immediately it's on. So we'll go through. Obviously that's your power button. You want to shut it off, just press it, turn it on.
Turn it on.
And it beeps twice. Okay, here's your menu button.
Here's your backlight that stays on.
All right, here is your minus and your plus button. And this right here is pretty cool. What we'll get into that. All right. So the menu button, you have these four little quadrants. The first quadrant and you'll see these little icons. Looks like a horseshoe and a nail. This one's like a if you can see that, a bottle top and a 5-cent piece. This is either like a 1-cent piece to 10-cents. And this is 25-cents to 50-cent piece. Occasionally, yeah, you're going to get a false positive. It's not going to be able to identify exactly what it is all the time, but this is a good guide to know what you might be searching for. So all right, let's say if you wanted to eliminate you know, looking for nails, then you can literally get rid of any of the quadrants you're looking through. So I'll say menu.
Menu, and then it says memory. That'll go to the last thing you were on. Your sensitivity, your plus and minus.
You want to turn it down? See that right over there? Turn it up. All the way up.
All the way up. I'm going to leave mine on three or like somewhere in the middle.
Your menu button and your volume. Okay, it has three settings like low, medium, and high. I'm going to turn the volume all the way down.
All right, that's as low as it goes and then this is as high as it goes.
See how loud that is? And then that's as low as it goes.
So, we'll cycle through notch. Now, these little things are notches.
If you want to get rid of that, I believe you can just hold it.
See how that's highlighted?
Now, it's gone. So, it's not even going to look for anything in that particular quadrant. If you want to turn it back on again, just make sure you highlight it in the notch area and then hit the button and it should come back.
One, oops.
One, two, three, four, five, and it comes back.
All right, so that's how you change in between each You know what? Let's just use it. Let's just use it and see what we can find.
So, let's come over here and how you want to use this is have it flat to the ground.
Like that. Just like that.
And then slightly raised and you're going to be doing a sweeping motion.
Okay? And like I said, you can turn the sensitivity up or down over here. Mine's just on three.
So, over here I have a rusty nail.
Let me come over here. I don't know if you can see it right there.
Let's get down to the ground.
Hear that low tone?
That low tone is telling you right there that it could It thinks it's a nail or something of that nature, and it is.
All right?
So, if you don't want to find these type of items, then you would un-highlight that. So.
Let me get use this arm. Might be able to see it a little bit better.
All right. So, now over here, let me come over here, I have a penny.
So, right here I have a penny.
And we're going to go over it.
See the difference?
And what that highlighted was this area over here.
And it thinks it's between 1 cent and 10 cents. It actually could discriminate between the metals.
So, as you see, there's that tone.
There's that tone for a penny.
Let's go find a nickel.
See that?
And it lit up the section that it thinks it's between 5 cents, or it could be a pop top or something like that. It knows the metal. All right, let's see if we can find the dime.
All right, where did I put it down?
I can't even find it.
All right, where did I put it?
Up, there it is. All right.
See that?
It lit up the section where it thinks it's between 1 and 10 cents.
All right? And you can tell the different tones. The higher the tone, the better.
All right, this is a quarter down there.
And And at that. It's highlighting that it thinks it thinks that it's a 25 cent to a 50 cent piece.
All right. Now, I also hid a silver ring in the grass over here.
Let's see if I can find it.
So, you'll be able to hear it.
Sorry, guys. I'm trying my best here so you can see this.
All right.
Ooh.
What section lit up?
All right. It lit up that section right there. It could be of something of value in that last bit right there. So, there's my ring right there.
>> [sighs and gasps] >> And there's the ring.
Just put this over here so I don't lose it. It does also come, like I said, with these headphones. So, if you don't want to be out there, you know, causing attention to yourself, you'll still be able to hear the tones and you can plug this in. Really great Really great item.
And it also comes with this. This is like a little pouch with a little loop. You can strap it onto your belt if you want to.
And this is your digging tool. All right.
This is what they give you.
I mean, use whatever you want, but at least they do provide a digging tool. Okay?
Oops.
But, yeah.
So, it does come with a tool. You'll screw it together. I don't know why it's got this like little button compass on the on the end of the the handle, but I mean, that's pretty cool.
And then you're just going to put it together.
And then tighten that up.
And you have a digging tool.
Has a serrated, looks like a bottle opener type of thing, spade. So, you can get in there and dig. And always cover your holes up if you're digging. You know, like a good way to do it, maybe just go all the way around.
Something on that idea.
Plug it out.
Do your thing. And then plug it back up.
You know, nobody needs to see holes all over the place. So, that's a good thing.
So, and if that's not enough.
All right. Oh.
You familiar with this is what this is?
You familiar with this one? This one just happens to be a GP pointer. It doesn't come with this.
You don't need this. This is a pinpointer that, you know, if you're digging along and you find something and you're not exactly sure where it is in the dirt.
You would use one of these things and get down to, say, you know, you know, find what it is. You don't need this. All right? So, we can we can get rid of that.
See where it says PP?
That's a built-in pinpointer. So, say you're digging along, you're digging along, you pulled out some dirt, but yet you're still getting some hits. You go over the item with this woo type of noise to be able to find it. And uh I'm going to just show you that right now just so you can hear what it sounds like. All right?
I really do love this. I mean, is this the one that, you know, professional metal detectionist Gary Drayton, Bobby Dazzler, Top Pocket Finds, is this the one he may use?
I doubt it. But, are you going to be able to get the same results?
Absolutely.
I love that guy.
>> I'm using the pinpointer. It's trying to locate exactly where it is.
It's just a Excuse [clears throat] me.
It's a little piece of rusted out something.
But, it found it just by pinpointing that. So, I just want you to I just wanted you to hear that. This is a phenomenal piece of kit. I absolutely love it. You're going to have so much fun going out there and uh seeing what you can dig up. And um where to go, like a lot of people might not know where to go. Starting If you have a yard, start in your own yard first. You never know what you might find. Maybe you lost something in the yard. Maybe a previous owner could have left something behind. Go where the people go, you know, but be respectful, you know, go to your, you know, your playgrounds, you know, after hours, of course. Go to beaches are a great place to go. And uh like I say, anywhere that people have gathered, you will find uh this is waterproof as well. So, if you're going to do any kind of um you know, beachcombing, so to speak. I mean, you can s- go along the water as well. This is a phenomenal piece of kit. It's entry-level, but yet it's not, you know, it has a lot of professional settings that you will find useful. So, yeah, thank you to I I I Q or I'm not exor- sure how to pronounce it, but they sent this to me and I took advantage of it so I could give it to you. So, if you would like a chance to win this, down in the comments, if you want to be entered into the giveaway. Any This is open to absolutely anybody in the United States.
Anyone at all. All right, you don't have to pay for shipping at all. All right, so down in the comments just type treasure hunter and I'll know you're interested in um winning this right here. And how I'll pick the winner is in my my next video, I'll draw a winner, and then I'll come back to this, and if you won, I'll leave a little thing saying, "Yep, you won.
Contact me in the email, send me an address where you want me to send this to you." I'll send it out, and I will provide you with the tracking number so you know when it's going to arrive. But yeah, this is an outstanding piece of kit. I absolutely love it. And I just want to say thank you for joining me.
Sorry I didn't get into doing more like, you know, organic sweeps and finds. You get the idea. You heard all the tones.
You know what to expect, and you're ready to go. They set you up ready to go. So now I'm just going to take this apart, throw it in the bag, and make my way. Thank you. I appreciate your time.
>> [music and singing] >> We'll see you on the next one.
