The Fatigue of Beginning Again

[00:00:00]A millennial opens another onboarding portal, another password to create, another profile photo to upload, another benefits form to read closely enough to understand, but not closely enough to feel any better. They type their name into the system again, add their address again, choose their tax withholding again, try to remember whether this is the fourth time or the fifth time they have had to rebuild the administrative parts of their life from scratch.

[00:00:25]Nothing dramatic is happening. This is a good thing, technically, a new job, a new opportunity, a new start. But underneath the surface, the feeling is more complicated because they have been here before. New system, new people, new expectations, new version of the future they are supposed to believe in. And even if this move is better than the last one, even if it makes sense, even if they chose it, it still carries the strange fatigue of beginning again.
