900 Filipinos vs 40,000 Chinese Army | Battle of Yultong #history #philippines #shorts #aivideoAjouté :
Did you know 900 Filipino soldiers once held off nearly 40,000 Chinese troops during the Korean War at the Battle of Yultong?
This fight happened in Korea, a divided country in East Asia during 1951, when global powers clashed in the intense and deadly Korean War.
At a place called Yultong, north of Yeoncheon near the Imjin River, Filipino troops guarded a key route alongside American and Turkish allies. They were part of a larger defensive line [music] protecting South Korea, facing a massive Chinese offensive aiming to break through and surround United Nations forces.
Late at night, Chinese forces launched a sudden coordinated attack with artillery, mortars, [music] and machine guns, shaking the entire front line.
Soon after, waves of Chinese soldiers stormed the Filipino positions, forcing brutal close-range combat in the dark, with units cut off and fighting blindly.
As the situation collapsed, even cooks, medics, and clerks picked up rifles, turning the entire battalion into desperate front-line fighters.
On a critical hill, Filipino troops were overrun after hours of fierce fighting, but Captain Conrado Yap led a bold counterattack to rescue survivors. He died in that charge, but his men [music] succeeded while the battered battalion held long enough to protect the retreat of larger Allied forces. By morning, the Chinese attack slowed, [music] and despite heavy losses, the Filipinos proved that discipline and courage could hold the line against overwhelming odds.
