The Assam cabinet has approved a customized Uniform Civil Code (UCC) that completely exempts the tribal population from its purview and preserves all local rituals, traditions, and customs outside its scope, while the UCC will govern succession, marriage, living relationships, and compulsory marriage registration including divorce; the bill will be laid before the assembly on May 26th.

Today Assam cabinet has also passed uniform civil code. We customize that to the requirement of Assam. We have completely exempted tribal population from the perview of uniform civil codes.
We have also uh kept all rituals, traditions, customs practiced by the people of Assam outside the scope of uniform civil court. The UCC bill will be laid before the assembly on 26th of May. Basically UC will deal with the succession, marriage, living relationship and compulsory registration of marriage including divorce.
