Music Composer Reacts - Goodbye (Reverse: 1999)

[00:00:00]Unexpected storm from a verse 1999 is one of my favorite pieces this year. At least one of my favorite pieces that I've listened to this year. But I was also recommended to listen to goodbye as well. Um, and I I don't know what what to expect. I'm hoping I enjoy it just as much as unexpected storm cuz I absolutely adore that piece. My name is Corey or everything fantasy and I'm a music composer for video games. I have my cute my Qbase. I have my piano in front of me.

[00:00:39]>> [music] [singing] [music] [singing] >> Okay, okay, okay. I was not expecting this at all. Okay, so we started in E minor.

[00:01:19]And now we've changed to G major.

[00:01:25]So far, it's hard to know what to think to be totally honest. Um, I'm getting kind of character introduction feel from this even though it's called goodbye.

[00:01:38]>> [singing] [singing and music] >> I love the the persistence of one chord.

[00:01:59]And and you'll notice the vocalist as well. Lovely voice by the way is pretty much singing almost exclusively one note.

[00:02:21]We have those arpeggios.

[00:02:30]I'd love to know some context for this.

[00:02:32]Um, even just where it appears, what it's supposed to represent as well.

[00:03:11]Um We've got a blue scale going on.

[00:03:39]Uh, we've got that country soul bluesy feel to this. That's just really, really, really nice. Instrument wise as well. Um, the bass is doing an incredible job just grounding the rhythm. This I think I think then I can't can't even begin to talk about how much I love the vocalist voice in this particular song. I think it works really, really well.

[00:04:00]>> [singing] [singing] [music] [music and singing] [music] [music] [singing] [music] >> We have that conclusion. I want to just talk about the bass a little bit. Um, the bounciness of the bass that creates that soulful feeling.

[00:04:48]>> [music] [music] [singing] [singing and music] >> I think we have brush First of all, I love the backing vocals for this as well. That's an understated element of this, too.

[00:05:32]But the drums we had a brush.

[00:05:36]It sounds a little bit like this.

[00:05:50]That kind of with that kind of sound. Um >> [singing] [music] [singing] [music] [music and singing] [singing] [music] [music] [music and singing] [music] [music and singing] [music and singing] >> I was going to sell say the lyrics I mean I don't know. I was going to say the music feels like someone departing.

[00:07:12]It's kind of like that sort of the bluesy sorrowful it's been a good ride but now we must finally depart kind of thing. I love the use of the word melancholy cuz I think that's how I feel about the song in particular.

[00:07:23]Um, this kind of melancholic detachment, this dejected. Well, it's been bittersweet but you know, all things must come to an end. That's the kind of sensation I get from this. I'd love to know a bit more in the comments as well.

[00:07:52]I mean, naturally when you hear a song from a game like unexpected storm, naturally you're very inclined to at least I'm very inclined to think, okay, well, this other song is going to be at least vaguely similar. I'm not saying the same kind of genre but a similar feel. I wasn't expecting a genre change like this. Such a really nice piece of music actually. Unexpected took me by surprise in a way that I really like.

[00:08:13]I feel like I know why it was recommended now and I probably listen to this quite a few more times, too.
