So, it's actually been a long bank holiday weekend. Um well, I'd say bank holiday weekend. It's weirdly not where I am, but I I had the kids home for 3 days anyway, so it's I'm going to have to re reorient myself. So, I know that uh we are at war with the Dutch, which is just a case of nabbing um the Dutch East Indies, I believe, off them. Uh I'd like to go for Sumatra, please. Yes. Good. Then we can we can try and take the Dutch East Indies. That's lots of oil and um money that uh clearly is being uh squandered over here. Um but best that we we take charge, I think. Um and the nymph has found an enemy convoy to take care of. We're also attempting to um sort out the weird excl Indonesian exclave of Luxembourg. Um uh but that's the army's job. I can't do anything about landlock provinces, I'm afraid.
Has the game immediately crashed? That would be uh very strong of it.

So, I think it's a case of sending the ships home, honestly. Uh, cuz I don't think the war is going to continue or at least not properly. Um, so I'm going to send all the ships home. I'm going to sort the finances out. I'm going to sort the research out because I think we have most of the ticks that we need.

It could go all the way down to a 4 in.
They feel a bit weedy though because yeah, the 6 in become interesting because at 3.4 4 in of armor. They're going to be able to go through the extended armor on a lot of enemy ships.
Obviously, the sevens and the eights are also interesting, but I think they're just going to be too heavy. I mean, how heavy are we talking? Bearing in mind, this ship has no armor.

And I think sevens will be as well, but maybe a 6 in gun, especially as we can fit a couple of extra ones up there.

Okay. Uh, four and a half belt. So, do we want to protect against a 6-in gun? I think that's probably an idea, but it's going to be tricky.
That means a 4 in four after and on the super structure deck armor.
Uh let's say two on the main deck and like half an inch on the extended decks should keep out most things.

Uh main belts for 13in guns. We're going to need somewhere between 14 and 16 in.

What's the rate of fire on these? 8 N 12's are one round a minute. I might I might wimp out and go for twelves. I think I think um we're just the ship is not big enough for a 13-in arament like this.
So if I want to keep this layout, we should go for something like this instead. Wow, that saved an awful lot of displacement. Oh, the other thing people keep telling me is we are Germany. Um, and given that it is a new era, we're going to switch to metric. Now, I know some people said centimeters, but centimeters are an awful unit, and I do not agree with it. So, no thank you. Uh, millimeters, like proper engineers.
So, uh, we're going to trim these to 100 mm.

Uh I like it. I think this is a solid this is a solid ship. First generation Dreadnaugh. Uh should be ready around the right time. Um compared to the actual Dreadnaugh.

Well, uh the proof is in the pudding of course, but we will save that ship and we will head back to the dockyard.
Now, we need to think numbers. Now, these are vastly superior to our existing battleships, but the Helgolins aren't really battleships. They're just really thick, heavy cruisers. So, I don't feel any need to get rid of these ships just yet, even though the game will punish me for doing that. I if I could round down rate them to uh CAS, I would. So, really, this is our first proper battleship.
How many should we have? So, let's have a look at our economy. We are currently sitting at 80.
Um, the closest to us, we're actually the smallest of the major powers. That's interesting.
Is uh Oh, democratic left-wing Russia.
Oh my goodness. Yes, we'll ally with you. Um uh they have four.
Four would put us on an equal well slightly superior footing to the Austrahungarians, slightly less than the French, slightly less than the Americans, and significantly less than the British. So I think four is a good target to build these And we will build them in uh kill.
Uh so that will give us four actual battleships and that will be very very handy. Uh, the war with Spain will probably end quite soon. So, I'm about to go into a period of peace and tranquility, and I'm sure no major issues will uh crop up whatsoever for good old peaceful Germany. Um, and we can just look forward to to some some new uh some new ship builds. Uh maybe some, you know, you know, some some minor stuff going on somewhere, but I'm sure it'll all be fine.
