The Mackville Nationals is a Grand National four-wheel drive competition where trucks are limited to 6,200 lb maximum weight, 650 cubic inch engines, and naturally aspirated configurations (no supercharging or turbocharging), producing approximately 1,800-1,900 horsepower. Competitors must make strategic decisions during test pulls, including whether to accept the distance or drop to the bottom of the class, with officials measuring distances using laser technology accurate to one-thousandth of a foot.

Live Look-IN - Mackville Nationals - Seymour, WI - Session 1
Added:operated now the title sponsor on the modified four-wheel drives and then she's got the green lights and green flags. Mackville, it is time.
>> All right, modified four-wheel drive competition. The big Ford starts things off now. Taylor, very important decision as our test puller. The officials will look at the distance here and the sled setting and then of course Taylor will say yes or no whether or not she's going to take that hook.
>> That front axle was chattering violently and trying to tear the steering wheel clean out of her hands at the very end.
I think she pushed in the clutch early on it to try and save parts.
I would not be shocked to see a thumbs-down.
>> So we'll get the numbers in here at 287 even. 287 even for Taylor. And we will see whether or not she is going to be happy. So yes, she has turned it down here.
So going to take that option and I'm thinking, you know, we're probably going to take that six or maybe she'll drop the last here with the wet conditions out there. Of course that test pull was brought to you by Powered by Science by Hot Shot Secrets, a new sponsor here for the test pulls this year and I'm glad to have them on board here once again in 2026.
>> I have to believe that with the weather and everything that conversation was probably already had before she even ran whether it would be drop six or go to the bottom.
And as we said in our pre-show about Lisa Peterson moving the cone.
She's down there with Larry Scouten at starting line right now.
They're coming up in about seven hooks from now.
>> Yes, so fans 23 of these Grand National four-wheel drives as we talked about earlier, start their season here tonight here at the 50th annual Mackville Nationals. 6,200 lb maximum weight of these trucks, 650 cubic inches.
Nowadays, we're upwards around that 1,800-1,900 horsepower range, but naturally aspirated, no supercharging, no turbocharging allowed. And uh when you talk about the price of these engines, you're uh pretty much looking at, you know, a supercharged engine at that point.
>> Yeah, for sure. They are a bit of a pricey piece because they are only going to make whatever horsepower Mother Nature gives us and uh sounds like uh Jason Schultz, you got more to add to this conversation about the test hook.
>> Yeah, so jumped in, put my head inside Taylor's truck, and said, "Hey, why did you turn that down? It looked like a decent pass." She said it wasn't happy at all. Her crew was hooking her up right away trying to get her back and get going. She had a little bit of a chatter. I don't know what you all saw, Charles and Dan, but I thought it was a decent pass, but you know, hey, she's done this better than we more than we have, and she was chasing Grand National points last year, so maybe we'll I'm sure it was a good decision. We'll find out later.
>> Yeah, she was right. That front axle was beating itself pretty bad.
>> And of course, now it goes down to that number two hook that doesn't have that option here. And of course, we'll wait for our track officials here to find out we are officially official on our four-wheel drive track, so I always like to say that. Officially official down here because they can reset, lighten things up a little bit, or they can uh we'll see what they decide.
>> It's another one of our uh young gun drivers who'll be next to come out on this track, Anna Mangin Goodhue, Minnesota in the Bounty Hunter.
Do up next. John Davis on deck, Rob Foster in the hole.
>> So, Anna Mangin on a Goodhue, Minnesota, second-generation puller. Dad a two-time NTPA Grand National champion. Now, that old Outlaw truck has gone down the road.
Unfortunately, uh Mark Mangin's truck, he is now Well, he's gone into the Pro Stock side of things. He's going to be blowing smoke here this year. And he told me this afternoon going to look to debut it next week in Toma.
>> All right, I kind of wondered if looked to be on the schedule and we I thought with Hutchinson in last week, we were pretty close to home. It was going to come out, maybe that would be it, but I can wait one more week to find out about the new Outlaw.
>> So, the Bounty Hunter 2003 Chevrolet makes it out on the track. Once again, we are still unofficial. And Amegan or actually Taylor Corsa, excuse me, had turned down that number one hook there with the Taylor made a 287 even. And she has decided to drop into the class. We didn't find out officially she was dropping six or two tail. So, yeah, they tell us right down to the bottom. So, she will drop down here to the bottom of the class.
So, looks like early on going to work this left-hand side of the track. Now, fans, each and every competitor has that option where you put that weight transfer machine on the start line and you will see them here as this track kind of gets that moisture out of it here.
They'll work their way from left to right all over and all points in between where they get to start from out here.
So, Amegan and the Bounty Hunter Chevrolet gets ready to roll here tonight.
All right, fans, good run right there.
Just about that 290-ish foot mark down there for Amegan and the Bounty Hunter.
>> Very late in that run, there was just a slight pop coming out of that uh Sunnys 648 cubic inch hemi.
Didn't appear to be anything wrong though. Still sounds like it's on all eight.
Nothing leaking out the bottom. Threw a good bit of dirt against the buck board of the sled.
>> All right fans, well, they tell us we did have a reset here in between Taylor Corson and Anna Mangin.
So, once again, Anna Mangin was our new test puller there. Of course, powered by science hot shot secrets test puller and she has turned down her run of 292.05 and she will now go to the bottom of the field. So, we'll see if we'll have a a third reset here. We're going to run it as is.
>> Boy, big change on the starting line for John Davis out of Tappahannock, Virginia on the Seldom Seen machine.
He's decided to come all the way pretty tight to the wall here on this infield side track.
>> Yeah, first of two trucks John will have in competition here. This Seldom Seen truck is one he ran last year. Picked up a Grand National win with this truck last year. He'll have his second truck out here. Uh by the luck of the draw, he'll come out in position number three here. So, not a lot of time between his first and second trucks here as he'll have the second seen truck. Of course, a second generation puller, his dad Monkey Davis for so many years. Uh running that Tappahannock, Virginia area so popular.
I like to call it the home of the four-wheel drive trucks because so many trucks over the years at Tappahannock, Winchester area, so many of those four-wheel drives came out of that particular area and good to see the Davises back out on the circuit with us.
Steiner Tractor Parts is proud to be a supporter of the NTPA to promote our new parts for old tractors. So all the tractor enthusiasts out there, Steiner Tractor Parts.
All right, fans. So John Davis, Tappahannock, Virginia, makes his way out on the track, the seldom seen entry.
Down there in that beautiful, beautiful eastern part of Virginia.
Fans, we got 50/50 tickets going on. So uh look for the guys in the day-glow vests. Get in on the 50/50 as they make their way around.
So two trucks have run, no official distance as of yet. This should be our first one here as Anna Megan has turned down her test pull there with the All right, we'll get the slack out of the chain and John will be ready to go to work here tonight. The Chevrolet out of Virginia. We got any Chevy fans out there tonight? Where's our Chevrolet fans?
>> Yeah, how about it? He figured it out over here on this right-hand sideline.
An excellent run for John Davis out of Virginia.
And remember, he's got another one sitting back there not too far down the list here.
Course measured with a laser. Laser crew set up at the end of the track. Will measure up to a thousandth of a foot here in competition here tonight. Fans, 324.96.
That'll be a tough one to beat here tonight as that will set the mark here in our modified four-wheel drive class.
So, good to go. Our officials say we are good.
So, away we go. 324.96 to get it started.
>> Well, the Foster team apparently liked that because Tanya Foster is standing over the cone and it did not move. It's going right back to the same hole for Rob Foster in the Simply Red Chevrolet out of Fairgrove, Michigan.
Still working over the grandstand side a little bit to get ready for the mini rods. Takes a little bit extra prep with a 2,050-lb vehicle and that much horsepower on tap. We're going to make sure it's not only right, but safe.
>> Yeah, absolutely. We don't want competitors going out there and and wrecking their equipment, uh putting it on the edge out there. And the officials will check that out. Uh they'll make sure everything is good to go there before they turn that first mini loose down there. And of course we see down at the start line, Charles, we see quite a few of them competitors making their way out on the track and checking out those conditions.
Cuz obviously, you know, things have changed from what they thought, you know, just about an hour ago to what we've got here now.
>> Yeah, it's a whole new ball game for them and then much like I think the four-wheel drive guys could say the same that whatever plan was in place before kind of gone out the window. And that includes even gear ratios on these mod four-wheel drive trucks. It takes really about 3 minutes to open up that drop box and change a set of gears out for a new gear ratio. So, anything and everything is on the table as far as adjustments go.
>> So, next up on the four-wheel drive side, we've got coming out of Fairgrove, Michigan, uh just north of that Detroit area, one of the long-time runners. Now, we got a couple of the long-time competitors here in this class and actually Rob Foster is celebrating 30 years of running modified four-wheel drive trucks. And Charles, we talked about that earlier, we're starting to feel old when we talk about stuff like that cuz I remember when Rob Foster made his debut on the Grand National circuit.
>> Yeah, Rob doesn't live too far away from me, so I can remember seeing him, you know, in my teenage years, even way back before then on the local and and
