[00:00:11]It's still pretty good. In this video, we are going to see how much better the Fox Reservoir shocks are than the OEM Ford shocks. These are Motocraft shocks that I have been matched to my truck.

[00:00:23]They are brand new, zero miles. These shocks have 50,000 miles on them, but they were just rebuilt at Acutune Off-Road. We are going to do a viometer test and quantify just how much better this shock is than this shock and then you can determine what is best for you.

[00:00:41]Okay, quick comparison of OEM Ford.

[00:00:44]These are brand new Motocraft spec to the VIN of my Ford Superduty. So, they should be dialed, right? Little squat test. Wow, that did not take a lot of force to compress that. And now the Fox.

[00:01:08]Dang, >> that is wild. How much more force that took.

[00:01:13]>> Not to mention that this one's already extended >> and the other one's still >> still on its way.

[00:01:18]>> Still on its way back.

[00:01:24]Okay, so to test these shocks first, we're going to hit some speed bumps. We have two in a row here that we're going to go over at 5 mph and then 10 m an hour and then maybe 15, but it's a parking lot, so we're going to be try to be careful. Um, we got the viometer going. I'm going to reset it so we'll be able to see the average and the max. Um, I will again hit this same run. It has two speed bumps and then like a drainage ditch in the middle.

[00:01:54]>> Yeah. So, probably just gonna do five and 10 miles an hour.

[00:01:58]>> Look at all the scratches on it.

[00:01:59]>> I know. Wow.

[00:02:00]>> Oh, man.

[00:02:11]>> I don't know if I can do that at 10 miles.

[00:02:12]>> Oh, you can. You got it. Honestly, the the speed bumps are good, but I really appreciate the swale more than anything >> because it's big enough that it actually gets your whole car to have some inertia to it, like going over a whoop or like a highway feature, >> whereas the speed bumps are more of like a sharp like you can really feel the lack of damping when you get through the big.

[00:02:34]>> So, that was five about five miles an hour and maybe one of it would have been gross. Felix, we could do seven and then we could do 10. Are we going to do 10 and 15?

[00:02:44]>> I'm not doing 15. Dude, that is a That middle G out is like >> That's proper.

[00:02:49]>> But you're not going to bottom out. It's just going to be violent.

[00:02:51]>> Yeah, we're recording there. All right, 10 miles an hour.

[00:03:05]You know, it's good when you get this thing to jer. Woo! Wow, >> that was excellent.

[00:03:10]>> Max was 3.1 average.3.

[00:03:14]>> Oh, that was awesome.

[00:03:40]>> If you weren't wearing a seat belt, you'd go through the freaking roof.

[00:03:43]>> Dude, that was bad. You could hear the shocks, too, extend like >> Yeah.

[00:03:48]>> 8.3 max. All right, that's going to be that's So, that's the one to beat at 15 mph. And that's kind of what we saw the last time we tested these shocks because it was like it was like the faster you went through an obstacle, the better the reservoirs performed. So, >> which makes sense. I mean, to be fair, driving what? First with five, >> like I'm sure driving through that with no shocks at 5 mph like isn't that bad to be fair, >> right? Right.

[00:04:13]>> But if you drove through that with no shocks at 15, you're going to talk to Bubble and the [ __ ] rockers. That's for sure.

[00:04:21]>> Oh, certainly.

[00:04:45]>> Okay, we're back. And now we have the reservoir shocks on the truck. We are going to do the viometer test for the reservoir shocks on the same exact course, similar tire pressure, and yeah, we're going to see how different this feels. So, we're going 5, 10, and 15 miles hour.

[00:05:12]>> Slow must feel very reasonable.

[00:05:24]All right. So 2.1.

[00:05:27]So was I think we were already at 2.5.

[00:05:34]The scientific method will not be compromised.

[00:05:39]Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's 10. Clean.

[00:05:44]Oh, easy. Honestly, it almost feels better at 10 than at five.

[00:05:50]>> Wow. That was like honestly it was only 2.2.

[00:05:53]>> That's what I'm saying. I bet you at 15 it might feel [ __ ] cash. Might as go faster.

[00:05:58]>> Keep going up.

[00:06:00]>> I mean, that felt more controlled than F5 as far as I'm concerned.

[00:06:03]>> Yeah. No, actually, >> it was less wadded into my seat belt.

[00:06:06]>> I'm glad I have someone too cuz I get all the feedback of the steering wheel.

[00:06:09]Like you're literally just feeling it in your seat.

[00:06:11]>> Sitting in a seat. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:06:13]>> And like feeling the belt bounce me up and down.

[00:06:16]>> But those also come custom tuned, right?

[00:06:18]That's that's like the important thing.

[00:06:20]>> Yes. That is what differentiates order shocks from AcuTune. They tune them for free.

[00:07:26]>> Yeah, >> that was We went up to like 8.5. It's up like 6.2.

[00:07:30]>> I didn't hit the ceiling this time, but I definitely still felt it in the belt in the back. But that's how my van is, too. That's kind of what I'm saying.

[00:07:36]When the back of a truck hits a like a pothole, it's like almost way more violent than the front or something.

[00:07:42]It's like >> dang. I mean, I don't know. I think that's pretty conclusive. I don't really want to go faster, but >> No, we don't really need to.

[00:07:49]>> So, max acceleration was 6.2, average was4.

[00:07:54]For the OEM, the max was 8.3, and the average >> and I mean, it was violent in here.

[00:08:00]>> Yeah, >> you could hear my tools bounce.

[00:08:07]So then the max at 10 was 3.1 miles hour whereas the max with was 2.2 two. So, a full meter per second less. And then going 5 miles per hour, the max was 2.1 and 2.5. So, like across the board, I mean, it was way more pronounced at bigger the bigger the impacts, >> higher amplitudes.

[00:08:31]>> So, yeah, as soon as you're putting any kind of insane stress on it, which would make sense, too, cuz like that also assumes like if you're towing, you're putting more weight on the vehicle. if you're driving fast. Like we didn't really get a chance to hit a ton of big gouts on the road, but like you think >> too good.

[00:08:50]>> Yeah. Yeah. California roads are too good, but you think like the gouts on the road are, you know, you're hitting at like 65 70 mph. Like that's a huge >> improvement. There you have it. I mean, we saw as soon as you started accelerating the vehicle to higher speeds and hitting the same course, there was, you know, over 2 m/s uh decrease in acceleration experienced in the cab of the vehicle, but it's very similar to the other test I had. Again, these shocks already have almost 60,000 miles on them. They're just rebuilt. So, I mean that also goes to show you too, used, rebuilt reservoir shocks are still way better than new OEM shocks. And you know what? It also I think points to the fact that it it just doing shocks makes a difference. Like I think a lot of people think you have to do a leveling kit. You have to do springs and and coils. You don't. Like just replacing shocks >> with nice shocks >> with nice shocks makes a huge difference. Okay, so we are all set.

[00:10:16]And for the results, I mean, pretty dramatic difference. Hopefully the, you know, you can kind of see even the inc cab footage with how Oliver and I and our bodies reacted to the stimulus, like how much of a difference the shocks make versus the stock OEMs. And again, those OEMs had, you know, by the time we got to the parking lot, they had maybe 5 miles on them. and shocks that were just rebuilt that have almost 60,000 miles on them performed better. Almost cutting, you know, three meters/s of acceleration off of the max hit on those faster runs.

[00:10:58]And, you know, even at the the slower 5 mph runs, you're still seeing a decrease in vibration. And you know, over time that adds up. If you're driving thousands of miles, if you're loading a lot of weight in the bed or towing, you know, all of that force is acting on the truck and you in the cab. And so decreasing that will increase your control of the vehicle. It'll help you drive safer. It'll make the driving experience much more pleasant. And, you know, you'll just be able to control the vehicle better. And again, you know, maybe it's something that you don't have to do immediately, but if you own one of these Ford Superduty trucks, whether it's a gas or it's a diesel, I think it's a no-brainer to upgrade the shocks, especially the custom tuning with Acutune, because you're basically getting free custom tuning and a free inspection of the shocks for retail cost of what these reservoirs would be anyway. And then you get a discount on rebuilds of the shocks. So, maintenance and free rev valves if you need the valving changed.
