[00:00:00]I talked about in my previous videos how I can bind virtual machines with Docker containers, which creates a really cohesive home lab. I have one virtual machine called media, which houses Jellyfin, Authentic, and Audiobookshelf.

[00:00:10]I have another one called tools, which houses a bunch of different tools. And my other one is called Authentic, and it simply just houses Authentic. One of the best things about separating these containers by virtual machines is that if one breaks, they don't all break. I also have a bit more of granular control over backups, so when I want to back up a virtual machine, I only have to back up the media stuff and not the Authentic stuff. The biggest downside to having containers separated by virtual machines is that when you're using something like Dock Hand, it is much harder to configure to get Dock Hand to see all of them. On top of this, if you want to use a reverse proxy to get TLS for all of your containers, you will need one reverse proxy per machine.
