Tarrant County DA says mother of missing boy will be tried despite incompetency ruling

[00:00:00]The remains are at the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office for identification. Police say this time around they had equipment and expertise that went beyond the capabilities of the last search. They would not go into detail on where and in what condition the remains were found. FBI and investigators spent the last 3 days searching the property where 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez Alvarez lived with his mom and siblings. Our camera caught them digging through dirt near where the family stayed in the red shed, but investigators also tore up a patio. Noel was last seen in October of 2022, and after that his mother Cindy Rodriguez Singh fled to India with her husband and other children. Rodriguez Singh was extradited back to the United States last year. She is charged with capital murder in her son's death. Though up to this point there has been nobody found.

[00:00:50]Just last month she was found incompetent to stand trial. Longtime neighbors like Mike Ford say he hopes the remains are the little boys so he can finally get some rest.

[00:01:01]>> I hope it's that little boy so they can get some closure for that young man. To be buried like garbage and to be forgotten, that that is sad.

[00:01:10]While we wait for an identification, the Tarrant County District Attorney says he believes this new evidence will support the case against the boy's mother Cindy Rodriguez Singh. What's next for her?
