This video captures a Jehovah's Witnesses funeral service for Marilyn Ou Hing Wan (1943-2026), where her son Paul O'Han delivers a discourse explaining that death is not the end but a temporary state of unconsciousness awaiting resurrection. The service emphasizes that Jehovah promises to bring the deceased back to life through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ, offering hope that loved ones will be restored to health and happiness in a paradise world. The discourse teaches that while grief is natural, believers should focus on building lasting spiritual treasures rather than material possessions, and that the resurrection hope motivates faithful service to God.

So again the theme of that song is he will pour Hallelujah.
Heat. Heat.

Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Yeah.
Heat.
Let's pray.
Our merciful father in the heavens, Jehovah, we do humbly bow before you at this time. Giving thanks to you Jehovah for the opportunity of being here to say farewell to Sister Hingan.
Jehovah, we know she was one that was loved as is evident by the number of persons that are here. And we know Jehovah, she's just asleep. We know Jehovah, your promise is to bring her back again to life. What is interesting Jehovah and one that we can take courage from is that after today, never would we see her like this again. She'll be young and healthy. And so we pray Jehovah that your spirit be upon all of us here this morning especially upon the one that would deliver the funeral discourse. May you grant him your spirit Jehovah so that he would be able to enlighten all of us here again emphasizing the promise that you have in store for mankind when we die. So we pray Jehovah that you take charge of the whole proceeding here that you watch over the family continue to uh grant them your spirit as we go through this time. So now as we about to go into that discourse we pray and ask that you hear this prayer and also grant us forgiveness of sins as we humbly offer it to you in no other name but in the name of your son and reigning king Jesus Christ our Lord.
>> Amen.
Again, we want to say a warm welcome to all this morning on this very sad occasion where we are now getting the opportunity to say farewell to our dear sister King and to deliver the funeral discourse this morning is her son and now we invite him to come to the platform.
to deliver that discourse. We now call on Paul O'Han to deliver the funeral discourse.
So again a warm welcome is extended to all and from the prayer indeed by the attendance we know that our dear mother and sister and friend was really loved and someone that you could have gone to with anything.
And so today we are gathered here with three hearts to remember and to honor the life of our dear sister Marilyn a beloved wife mother grandmother friend and everything else in between but most of all a faithful servant of our God Jehovah.
friends is at times like this we want to turn to God's word the Bible for comfort the Bible book of Isaiah chapter 14 verse8 it reminds us there that the word of God endures for ever and so it is always there for us to turn to when we need comfort and strength this the word here in the Bible comfort us helps us to reflect on the the way we want to live our lives.
Our dear sister was born on September 26th in the year of 1943 and she lived a long and meaningful life until she fell asleep in death on the 24th of April of 2026.
She was married on June the 24th, 1978.
And with that decision came great joy and happiness.
She shared a deep and lasting love for her husband.
Joseph our man was one of loyalty, companionship and genuine affection.
Something that was also dearly and close to our heart was that relationship they had.
And just not too long after that in 1979 in January, Sister Hingman was baptized and one that was one of the most important decision she made in her life. She dedicated her life to Jehovah and that decision went on to shape the rest of her life. They influenced the way she treated others, the way she viewed others, and the way she respected others.
Marilyn was truly a a family centered woman, a spiritual woman.
And so it's something that we as children and friends and family could imitate from her.
Marilyn was the daughter of Alan Hail and Cibil Dman both deceased. She was the sister of Caris Howard Fino and Monty both deceased. She survived by Vashi Adam Richard and I was the wife of Joseph or Hinguan deceased daughter-in-law of George and Ania Hinguan both deceased.
She was she was a loving mother who love whose legacy cons continues through her children Kathy, Joan, Hope, Donna, Rachel, Esther, Judith and Paul and she were pre predecess predesceased by Lisa, David and Fabian.
She was also a mother-in-law to Dexter Henry, Nisha Wingan, Jonah Winguan, Cheryl Shuing.
She was a proud patriarch.
And get this, she was a grandmother to 37, a great grandmother to 49, a great great grandmother to six.
Beyond all these numbers, it was something that was even more meaningful.
It was the love that she gave each and every one of them. No matter sometimes she may have forgotten their names because there was so much. And then outside of that all the other um daughters and sons and you know she she would just pick up anybody as and end up with her family. Anybody reaching me at that home, trust me, they're leaving.
They will not leave.
So Marilyn was also an aunt and a dear friend. She was also an aunt to many many many many too much.
And so she was a dear friend of to Mona Gordon, sister auntie, sister Bonnie as we call her, Agnes and John I. right here, >> Lenny Caesar, Myron Ragupa, Joan Maxine, and many, many more. And the list goes on and on and on because she was that type of person. She was loved and she was friendly with everyone she met.
She was known for her warm hospitalities.
Marilyn was always an o open home and she welcome everybody with an open heart.
She found joy in cooking not just for her family but for guests, friends and especially for the brothers and sisters.
Feeding others was her way of showing love and that was reflect reflective in the you know of her spirit. In the Bible book of 1 Peter 4 and verse 9, it says there, "Be hospitable to one another without grumbling." And that she was, she never complained. She was so hospitable. It was something that came natural to her.
That friends encourages us to be hospitable to one another with our love just as our dear sister. She was generous. She was giving and she was always happy to serve each and everyone who came into contact with her.
She had a deep and special love for me.
A place that brought up peace, joy, happiness.
It wasn't just a place that she visited in. It's a place that she felt comforted. It's a place that she was really at home. So much so that she often expressed her that desire to go back there and live to spend the rest of our lives. Sadly, she did get that that realization. But it was in her heart.
And we know that the love for simple things, peaceful surroundings that just gives us a small glimpse of the kind of person she was. Someone who appreciate the quiet beauty, family moments and contentment.
What is above all Marilyn build a good name. The Bible book of Ecclesiastes says in chapter 7 and verse one, it says there a good name is better than good oil and the day of death is better than the day of birth.
And Marilyn did make a good name. Not only did she make it with the persons around her in an earthly sense, but she made a good name with God who she served faithfully. As you can see on the monitor there she is on the service despite what come with me that and that picture was during co you know it was just coming out of co and the first person out she wanted to be out there and there she is doing making a good name for herself with Jehovah friends that is something to emulate and she will always be remembered that way her love that is sure that She served Jehovah wholeheartedly.
At times like these, my friends, we all need comfort. We we when we suffer loss, it's only natural that we need some sort of comfort.
You see, grief is a natural reaction when we lose someone we love.
The Bible shows that even faithful servants of God mourn deeply. And there are many examples in the Bible.
Take for instance in the B Genesis chapter 23 and we look at verse two.
It said, "So Sarah died and carried her back that is Hebron in the land of Canaan and Abraham began to mourn and to weep over Sarah." So even back then mourning was a a a normal thing. It wasn't it was a natural thing for persons to mourn when we lose someone.
Even Jesus himself, even Jesus himself felt deep emotion. At John 11 33-35, it tells us there John 11 33.
When it says there when Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come come with her weeping, he groaned within himself and became troubled.
He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." And note this, Jesus gave way to tears. Yes, Jesus too had deep emotions. He wept with those who were grieving that and so that assures us that Jehovah understands our pain. He cares for us and he would always be there to comfort us. At at Psalms chapter 34 and verse 18 there it highlights there that Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted.
Isaiah chapter 41 verse 10 also reminds us that he strengthens and he supports us in our time of need.
So while loss is a real thing and it hurts and it pains us deeply, we are not alone. Our our God Jehovah is there to comfort us.
And so what is the hope for our dead love?
Well, we know that death was never a part of the original purpose for us humans. No, at Genesis at Romans chapter 5 and verse 12, it says there, Romans chapter 5 and verse 12, it says, "That is why just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sin. So here we excuse me and so we could understand why it is not a natural thing and Jehovah hasn't forgive forgotten about us.
The Bible explains that the dead is unconscious.
Ecclesiastes Ecclesiastes 9 5 and then first and 10 we read that Ecclesiastes 9 5 and then verse 10 it explains that for us it says therefor know that they will die but the dead know nothing at all nor do they have any more reward because all memory of them is forgotten. Verse 10 says, "Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your might, for there is no working, no planning, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave to where you are going."
So there are common there are um common beliefs that sometime when when persons die, they spirit roam somewhere, they come back as animal all sorts of different things. But the Bible clearly states the dead is conscious of nothing at all. They do no work. They they can't plan anything. They can't devise anything. They can do anything. They are dead. They're simply at rest. They wait in a resurrection. They are resting until that time.
Life is all that life is simply returned to Jehovah memory.
And Jehovah has promised us something that is far greater than than this what we experience. Now at the Bible book in Revelations chapter 21.
Revelations chapter 21 and verse 4.
Here what is promised. It says there and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more neither mourning nor all cry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Yes, this is a promise that we can all look forward to. Why? Because Jehovah has promised to us.
This is made possible how it was made possible through the ransom sacrifice our of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He gave his life as a ransom in exchange for us. Matthew Matthew 20 and verse 28.
It says there Matthew chapter 20 verse 20.
Just as the son of man came not to be ministered to but to min but to minister and to give his life as a ransom in exchange for many.
So this is this is a promise that we can look forward to a resurrection.
His resurrection guarantees a future for each and every fleet one of us.
Jesus promised at John 5 and verse 28 and 29 that that all those who are who have died will live again.
the words. Let's look at that.
John 5 28 and 29.
It says there, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out. Those who did good things to the resurrection of life and those who practice vile things to a resurrection of judgment.
Yes, we this is a guarantee we have that there is going to be a resurrection for for those of us both the righteous and the unrighteous and for those like our dear sister Marin who loved and look forward to his promises the hope is to live again in a peaceful paradise that was set before us original purpose will be re restored This is not this is not just comforting though. This is more than that. It is this is based on God's word. This is a reality that we all can live.
We now have the picture up.
Yes. And this is one of the promises we have. This is a paradise. Look at the faces. Nobody's dying. Nobody's sick.
Nobody's toiling. And nobody is wanting that all is happy enjoying peaceful work and enjoying what they do. This is something we all can have and we no doubt that our God will make it possible for us.
We now want to just interview um a brief interview with one of our daughters Judith and Esther.
Juniper, >> I want you to tell us something about your mom. Our mom.
>> Well, from the titles mommy carried mommy granny aunt friend these titles as was mentioned before wasn't just limited to her family because mommy was all things for a lot of people she would as was mentioned welcome anybody into our home which sometimes I might not have agreed upon but I mean she would do it and she would make them feel Right.
She >> take it then.
>> As my husband would have said, he used to laugh because he would remember mommy. He said, you know, he never saw somebody take one piece of chicken and share between about six people. You understand? But she she made sure and when you think about the children, mommy would put a half bucket of water and be probably like if it doesn't have water like five, six children, you know. So So this is mommy.
She was a selfless person, you know. She always put people above herself. Sometimes I would send food for mommy and I'll call mommy. Mommy, did you eat the food? She said, yeah. And then you'll hear somebody background. She'll lie.
So they say she will say, yes, I ate some. But um >> so and so pass and you know so she had to give it to them and this was >> yes and I want you to share with us some of your memories of mom.
>> Well I always remember when we were younger picking up Esther from school we would most of the time go long hall used to have a place called Swiss Charlie upstairs. So we'll go, we'll sit down there, we'll have probably ribs and things like that. On other days, we may go to West Mall in Jardines. We would have afternoon tea.
All at that time, it didn't have anything behind West Mall, so we would go and bathe behind West Mall. So she always used to do things with us and for us.
>> Yes. And what are some what are some morals and values that you can take away from what we have learned from mom?
>> Well, I remember plenty times when mommy would come by me and spend the night sometimes when I turn around a little and say, "Mommy, well, let us do the text now." Now, she would turn around and say, "Well, I did it already, but we could do it again."
>> So, you know, she's a person who always used to put spiritual things. they would see her doing her Bible reading every morning and you know she told me every day I would do the Bible reading from the daily text. So at a point in time I tried following that also but I mean it's something I have to still try to pick up on you know but she she was always a person well would never meet even before she died mommy was thinking about I want to go back out and do magazine work after pioneer after you know and things like that. So she would always.
>> So we want to thank you very much for musting of the boldness to come here and deliver that beautiful remembrance of mom.
We we all children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many others friends. We all share that same sentiment. most of it because the person she was was truly indeed amazing as she was fondly called um I think it was Nigel. Yes. Nigel gave her the name super grand and that she was. Yes. But how can we benefit from being here today? How you see at moments like these reminds us how the how fragile life is.
We are here now and we are gone tomorrow. In Ecclesiastes chapter 9 and 11, there he tells us, "I have seen something further under the sun, that the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent one always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because what? Time and unexpected unexpected events overtake them all."
Friends, you could attest to that.
Every day, every moment we hear of something, somebody lost someone, someone is sick, unexpected occurrences that happens to each and every one of us. Nobody is exempted from it. Nobody.
In this system of things, we can expect all these things.
Now this this will help us to take the time and reflect how we are using our time. Are we using our time wisely? Are we just having a good time?
How is our relationship with our God?
Are we building a relationship with our God? Are we taking time to give Jehovah even five minutes?
Psalms 90 and verse 12 tells us probably I pressed there a little too hard.
Psalms 90 and verse 12 tells us teach us how to count our days so that we may acquire the heart of wisdom.
wisdom unto ourselves or wisdom that is from God.
Which one? Which one makes more sense?
We have seen the world's wisdom.
We have seen the outcome of it.
We have seen Jehovah's wisdom.
We have also seen the outcome of it.
Which one will you choose?
Pay attention to yourselves. Let us all examine ourselves, dig deep, and make time for our God.
Are we are we willing to draw closer to Jehovah?
Well, that is a goal we can all set.
You see, Marilyn's life was quietly answered. quietly answered those questions the way she showed what it means to be those things because she loved the family deeply.
She was hospitalitable. She was generous. She put spiritual things first.
Jesus encouraged us at Matthew 6 chapter 191 to 21 to focus on the lasting treasures.
Most persons in this system their wealth what they attain what they gather that is their that is their life that is the that's their treasure but then what it burns down some of the rob teeth disappears today you go bankrupt you lose all that but the treasures you store with your It says nothing can destroy that.
Nothing. No fire, no mud, no rust, no nothing can ever take that treasure away from you. So you have to safeguard it and you have to build it. Safeguard it and treasure it.
The resurrection hope motivates us to continue serving Jehovah faithfully.
It assures us we will see our loved one again. It and this again is another promise. We would yes we might. We maybe is sure it would. It's done.
So in conclusion, my friends, today we remember Marilyn not just with sorrow but with deep appreciation, love and all we have the memories. We remember her how she used to love her husband Joseph. How the joyful caring of for her family. How generous andospitable she hospitalpitable she was.
her peaceful moments, her dreams like those connected to Miro.
We had a lot of fun times there. So a lot of memories come from there.
These are the things that stay stays with us. While we may grieve now, we hold firmly to the hope that one day under God's kingdom, we will welcome Maryland back with open arms, young and fresh.
Until then, may we continue to comfort one another, strengthen our faith, and rely on Jehovah, let us all do what we can to serve him faithfully. And see you in paradise.
Paul, we want to say thank you very much for helping us to appreciate the hope that your your mom had and the hope that many of us could look forward to. I must add something here. He forgot something while he was going through the program and I know if his mom was alive, he would have got spanking for that. One of our good friends, he didn't mention a name and the name is on the program, is someone by the name of Sally Samuel, better known as Queenie. I don't know how we missed that, but I would not have missed it. I think you all know why.
Very good. So, it's nice to see we could smile at such such a sad woman. So what we'll be doing now is we'll be closing with a song and prayer, but we're asking you to just hold on for a few announcements after the prayer. Right?
So the song we'll be closing with is entitled with eyes of faith. After that song, we'll call back Paul to say a word of prayer. So that the theme of that song again, with eyes of faith. So if you could could stand and the words would come up on the monitor.
Hey.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat up Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat up here.
Let us return thanks to Jehovah.
>> Our heavenly father Jehovah, most loving, most kind.
We are grateful to >> for life. We are grateful for the gift of our dear sister mom and sister and friend.
You have brought her into our lives and meaningfully so. She have taught us many things and that we are grateful for and we are in the truth today because of her and we are grateful. We are thankful.
Jehovah we know that was never a part of your purpose and we know you haven't you haven't abandoned us. You made provisions for that by way of your r the ransom sacrifice of your son Jesus Christ. Thank you for that privilege.
Thank you for helping us to regain what Adam lost. Jehovah, please continue to comfort us, strengthen us, and give us what we need to cope.
At times, Jehovah, we do and say things that doesn't please you. So we beg that you forgive us where we have heard against you. Let us take this time to reflect on the fraility of life and help us to reflect how we can strengthen up our relationship with with you. Help us to strengthen that bond so that we could really have a hope and benefit in the long run of everlasting life.
So Jehovah, as we go through the rest of the day, we ask you to continue to give us your Holy Spirit so that everything will take place decently and by arrangement according to your will.
Jehovah, please hear our prayer as we offer this humble prayer to you through your son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
So we know persons would want to come and view the the body before they leave. So we want to have a little order in doing that so we can move a little bit quicker. So what we are asking you're coming down on this lane here you feel the body and you can exit through the door there also um you know that in that room there there is some refreshments. So if anyone would like to partake of it get some refreshments in that room there. Right.
After the body is removed from here, it will be followed by private ceremony right at the cremation site. So would just be the family and close friends would be there, right? But we again we want to thank all of you for coming this morning to show your appreciation for the person that Marilyn O'Han was. Right? So we hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Right.
