Ontario's 2026 summer will be characterized by cooler-than-normal temperatures due to a rapidly transitioning El Niño pattern, with late spring-like conditions expected through June and a changeable summer featuring both warm stretches from the United States and cooler air intrusions, while southern and eastern Ontario will experience more frequent rain and storms along an active storm track.

Ontario’s 2026 Summer Forecast: Rapidly transitioning El Niño keeps things cool | #summerforecastHinzugefügt:
Ontario, [music] your summer forecast is here. I want to show you the pattern setting up across the country to give you [music] context that jet stream favoring warmer in the west, cooler for us here courtesy of the global pattern of a rapidly transitioning El Nino through the season. So, we're painting you in blue below normal through this summer. We're expected to have late spring-like weather through June. So, not an early start to the season.
However, I must say summer is not canceled. We're going to still see heat and humidity move up at times from the United States, give us some warm stretches, but it'll compete and be more of a changeable summer with cooler shots of air coming in at times, too.
Northwestern Ontario should be below normal for precipitation, but look at that swath in green. Looks like for southern and eastern Ontario, we are going to be riding along that active storm track. So, more frequent chances for rain as well as storms. So, the summary is it's going to be a changeable summer across the region. Late spring-like weather for June. And also, I have to mention this, cooler-like temperatures at the start of this summer's expected.
