High pressure systems create flat ridges that usher in southwesterly flow, causing temperatures to rise until a cold front arrives from the northwest, which brings cooler air and unsettled conditions; this combination of elevated temperatures, dry conditions, and gusty winds with thunderstorms creates elevated fire risk, requiring caution during afternoon and evening hours when winds ramp up.

Memorial Day brings elevated fire risk with unsettled conditions to followAdded:
86 degrees right now in Boisee. It is toasty outside. Very tempting to be outdoors. But this heat is no joke. It can sneak up on you and heat related illnesses are uh very serious. So make sure you're drinking plenty of water, staying in shade, or better yet AC if possible because the temperatures just keep getting hotter until Monday.
Memorial Day will be the hottest day for us in Boisee and most of Southwest Idaho. The good news is that we will see some relief from the heat come on Tuesday. It'll be a decent drop in temperatures 15 to 20 degrees. And then from that point on through the end of the work week, shower chances come back into the picture, which is good news because we've been very dry. No measurable rain in more than a month in Boisee. Also looking at the possibility of some storms, but our current heat situation is all due to this high pressure that is dominating the west in general. For the most part, it is a fairly flat ridge. it's not uh amplifying extremely significantly and there is a cold front on the way which that will then reach us on Tuesday. So you can see our ridge right here is just going to continue to flatten over the next couple of days, but it keeps ushering in that southwesterly flow, which which helps our temperatures continue to climb until Tuesday when this system comes in from the northwest, which means cooler air is coming in, swinging in through the inter mountain west, dropping our temperatures. And that's going to stay in place in the west coast and keep us unsettled all the way through Thursday and Friday of the next work week until we enter the last few days of May. But this windy cool down is bringing a few concerns that we're monitoring. It will be very cool of course, but we will also see gusty winds that paired with thunderstorms which could have lightning poses a risk of fire. So continue to be very uh weather aare over the next couple of days. Those winds will actually ramp up on Monday evening. So Memorial Day Monday, you're probably still dealing with some sparks or flames outside potentially. be very cautious because those winds will be ramping up in the afternoon and evening hours on Monday and then lasting through Tuesday. In the short-term period though, just dealing with quiet, hot conditions really tomorrow morning. Boisey will only get down to 55 degrees. That's about 5 degrees warmer than what is normal for this time of year. Same goes for the western Magic Valley. The mountains will be of course a little bit cooler. If you have uh plans to head up to Stanley tonight or tomorrow morning, it will still be very frigid up there to start the day. Below frost temperatures at 34 degrees. But the afternoon, another warm-up is expected. Some spots in the lower Treasure Valley will hit the 90s most likely. Mountains are going to stay in the 70s. Spots like Haley, which are typically a warmer mountain location, is expected to break into the 80s on Sunday afternoon. Monday, Boisey looking at a high of 92 degrees. So, it will be very hot, but those winds are going to uh pose that elevated fire concern that we're watching, and that will really stick around through the end of the next work week as shower chances come back into the picture, but most importantly, thunderstorm, which can contain lightning. So, lightning possible, strong winds, not a good combination as we enter fire
