Weaponizing trade to address social grievances risks destabilizing Africa's two largest economies and undermining the progress of regional integration. This escalatory rhetoric prioritizes short-term political signaling over the long-term economic stability required for continental growth.

NIGERIA STRIKES BACK! DECLARES ECONOMIC WAR ON SOUTH AFRICA, SANCTIONS COMINGHinzugefügt:
Let's talk about my neighbors today.
South Africans, they are our very good neighbors here in Kenya and we love them. They we take them as our brothers and sister and sisters. Don't you love your brothers and sisters? You know, they live at the southern tip of the continent while we live at the eastern tip of the continent. So, they're basically our neighbors, but they've been misbehaving lately. You know, assaulting Africans and unaliving Africans and telling Africans to go back to their country.
Some are nasties. Some they are very good with name calling. One told me that a condom would have saved me from being born. And it's okay. You know, we do not we don't take things personal here. We are very brutal with the truth here. So, we know that this is going to elicit either emotion, good or bad. And it's okay. We move. But wait, let me actually make this person famous.
I I'm not sure if this person is a he or she, but let's take this person Let's give this person 10 seconds of fame.
So, this person by the name Sbusiso M7Z.
The person said that you look very uneducated yourself sitting there cuz if you were if you were You look very uneducated yourself sitting there cuz if you were, you would be talking about Ruto in Kenya. You Our issues are South African issues. They don't need stupid channels like this to tell us what and what not to do. If you like Julius Malema so much, vote for him in Kenya, you stupid woman. A condom could have saved us from nonsense like you spreading misinformation.
It's all right, but congratulations.
Congratulations, you made you made it to our wall of fame. That's handled perfectly. Back to business now. Now, with all everything that's happening in South Africa, South Africans are assaulting African some and aliving them. Actually, Nigeria has lost two of its citizens.
And the Niger- the Nigerian government is not happy at all. And they have said that you hit us once, we hit you twice.
You unalive our people, we show you shege. Shege is a Nigerian term to mean we will show you hell.
And they're scrutinizing so much about South Africa. You know, South Africa has uh so many businesses set up in Nigeria.
And the government the Nigerian government is is saying, "It's about time. It's about time." The Nigerian government is saying that they will sanction South Africa. This actually will might look like something small, but South Africa will definitely feel the heat of it economically. They are saying, "We see how you're moving. We see the direction We see the direction that you're headed, and we will counter, and you will not like what how we will counter it."
They is They are saying, "We see that you're cleaning up. We can also do some cleaning up." You know, South Africa has major investments in Nigeria. Take for example, MTN. This is a telecommunications giant, one of the biggest in Africa. And this is not a small player. This is a major force in Nigeria's economy, generating billions of dollars in profit every single year. So, if Nigeria decides to tighten policies, increase regulations, or even restricts restrict operations, trust me, investors will feel it. And then there's this DSTV.
DSTV is simple. It's cable TV. You pay, you watch. But it's not just TV, it's a massive business across Africa. So, when the Nigerian Senate starts scrutinizing how DSTV operates, how people are charged, how subscriptions work, that's not random. That's pressure. That's Nigeria saying, "If you can question how things are done on your side, we can also question how your business operates on ours."
And this is what people don't realize.
This is no longer just about xenophobia or social tensions. This is how economic power play. And once it reaches this level, it's not just governments involved anymore. It's money, it's influence, it's control. And the Nigerian Senate is now scrutinizing SS products in a way that they were not doing it before. They're not okay now with a subscription of DSTV because they're saying that in Nigeria, if you travel, the subscript they will charge you for it. Your card will run. But in South Africa, it's a complete opposite.
If you travel, they will not deduct any money from you.
They will not run your card.
And they're saying that they're stealing from Nigerians and they're robbing off Nigerians. Listen to this.
Somebody said that DSTV in South Africa, if you travel and you don't use it, they don't charge you money.
But in Nigeria, DSTV, I just want to bring this to your to your to attention. Come uh uh nominee, because you mentioned telecommunications. That's actually where I came from in before I entered politics.
DSTV in South Africa, if you travel for 1 month, 2 month, 3 months, your card will not run.
Your money remains until you come and and activate it.
But in Nigeria, once you pay, if you travel for 1 week, 2 weeks, by the time you come back, it has run out.
So, they are charging you on a daily basis even when even when it is not in use.
We need to invite DSTV. I just remember it. Yeah, and then the nominee was mentioned because he also uh uh he has been there. Yeah, I advised them. He has done lot of work on that. Why should Nigeria be paying for DSTV that they are not using?
The same way that we are paying for power that we are not using.
You go to communities, their transformer has stopped working 1 year ago, but the people are still getting bills on a monthly basis.
The same way you are not using DSTV. You have traveled for holiday with your families, but until you come back, the subscription has been consumed. But it doesn't happen in South Africa the way they come from.
So, these are things I don't know how you advise them. Listen to me.
You are the consultant to tell the government the issue. Yes.
Uh so, I don't know how you advise them that they will continue to rob Nigeria and cheat Nigeria and then you are here before us.
So, when you are answering Listening to him, this feels like aura for aura. Of course, they knew this before, but this is I will do you as you do me.
What do you think? I'd love to hear your opinion. I'd love to read your opinion and your thoughts about this. I'll see you in the next one. My name is Wangari Njuguna, and thank you for watching.
I'll see you in the next one. Goodbye and hearing.
