Stocking the Sportmens clubAdded:
[music] >> Welcome back.
>> [clears throat] >> Today's video is going to be different than usual.
Today we're going to help stock this pond.
>> [music] >> We have bass, bluegill, channel cats, yellow perch, and some trout.
We're starting off with the trout here.
Nice one.
THAT'S A WHOLE BUNCH.
>> OKAY, I'LL THROW THEM IN THE WATER OFF THE RIGHT SIDE.
YOU GOT to throw them in the water off the right side.
There's a big ONE UP THERE.
THOSE GUYS THAT WANT TO GET OUT I'M GOING TO GET OUT AND THEY DON'T BURN THEIR scales and algae right away.
Yeah, they swim away.
They going to tend to go right down and they land on the bottom.
Not that it hurts them, I just like to make them make sure they get out of the way.
Oh, you can do catch and release.
There's some big catfish there. Actually some of them weren't that big so they weren't too big.
These are the yellow perch.
>> Pretty nice for six days, aren't they?
Yeah.
Pretty much 7 to 8 inches in size. I don't think there's any pictures there.
Nobody's ever complained about the fish being too big.
Other than sometimes on the catfish.
I've had guys complain that they're too big, yeah.
I'll throw you all back.
There you go.
I'll take these guys down and we'll get a catfish in.
I'll get over here where the water's a little bit more clearer and dump them out and let you get a video of the one I got.
Get it where it's in some decent water.
There he goes.
Chop him on the bottom there.
There he goes.
I trimmed them out a little bit, but I didn't go very big on them. They're big, but I I threw one trophy fish in.
The rest of them are more than that.
Like that or better.
So, you get a little bit of numbers there.
That must be the trophy one. That's the trophy fish there.
There might be two of them that are like that.
Could be a nice one.
Somebody gets a hold of that, they'll be happy, won't they? Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I threw them out like that. The rest of them are a little bit smaller. before I go.
Now, what you're looking for?
That's a good size. See, that's my favorite size. It's still got a few spots on it. All the little guys. Those little ones are good to eat.
Those big ones are good, too.
Want a picture of the big one?
Yeah.
>> [music] [music] >> That's like, you know, the fifth or sixth one I've seen at least almost two pounds.
Yeah.
Kind of what you wanted, isn't it? Yeah.
Look at that.
I take my glasses off. They're splashing on me. Yeah. Can't have much water splashing on my glasses.
I get the last two or three fish and then we stop.
>> You want something more than a You don't think they're all hogs?
They'll eat any size.
Yep, got it.
Keep going healthy fish. Now, what's in this one?
>> This is hybrid bluegill.
Good size fish.
They're going to take a look at that.
This will be fun for the kids.
>> Oh, yeah.
Healthy, healthy looking fish. Good fish.
This stuff is all good. Everything was going out of the ponds yesterday.
Kids all like that?
>> They can hang around all day. No.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Last impression, here's the bass.
Nice one.
YOU GUYS MAKE OUT FEMALES THERE.
There's a male.
And female.
Good one out for his life.
They'll do well. They'll find a place.
They always Nature prevails, always.
One way or another.
See got some nice young adults there and some little bit more mature fish.
You got fish that will last a lot of years.
It's sure a long this bank here that isn't silted up, is it?
These two banks are pretty clean, aren't they?
It's quite a bit deeper in the lake, too, so I raised the level of it. Okay, just from raising it deeper?
YEAH.
THERE'S A FEMALE EGGED UP. YEAH.
>> NICE FISH.
YOU WANT A last picture?
You want a last picture? Sure, Calvin.
Ouch.
It might take that female there, too.
She's got eggs in her.
Oh, yeah.
She's got eggs in her.
She's got to be only about a 2-year-old.
She's got to be on the spawning bed in a matter of about 2 weeks, depending on the weather.
2 or 3.
Thanks for watching.
I hope you like this video.
We're going to do more different types of videos this year. We're not going to focus on just fishing, or cat fishing and grilling.
We're going to mix in some river fishing for smallmouth, pike,
