Weather forecasting involves analyzing atmospheric systems such as fronts, wind patterns, and pressure systems to predict precipitation, temperature changes, and weather conditions over time. When cool air moves in from the Pacific Ocean, it typically brings a 15-20°F drop in temperatures and can produce showers along coastal areas and mountainous regions. Weather systems evolve over time, with different systems bringing varying conditions such as showers, thunderstorms, or clearing skies, and extended forecasts track these patterns to predict conditions days or weeks in advance.

Mostly cloudy, some sprinkles | KING 5 WeatherAjouté :
Well, big changes from yesterday, that's for sure. Right on schedule, the off- offshore flow changed to onshore winds, and with that it's brought in some cool air off the Pacific and a weak front that's pushing its way in, producing showers out along the coastal areas, the Olympic Peninsula, and then up towards the straight. But it looks like that's going to be staying out there towards the coast. Over the interior, we're just looking for a few sprinkles at times.
It's about all we can squeeze out of this system. But with that air moving in, we're still looking for that to drop a 15 to 20° in our high temperatures from where we were yesterday. But at this point, see things pretty much dry up and down that I-5 corridor starting off the day. There in Bellingham mid-morning, see cloudy skies up there.
They might have seen a few sprinkles.
You're more likely to see those sprinkles up there in the northern counties. And round the central sound there around the Columbia Tower cam, we had a beautiful sunrise earlier cuz there were there was a break that the sun could shine through before it moved up into the clouds. But basically, just gray skies around the area now. Kind of watched the mountain that was below all the clouds early this morning, kind of came down on it, but I've got a little bit of a break showing up there in the lee of Mount Rainier. So, seeing a little bit of sunshine out there. You might actually see a couple of sunbreaks mixed in during the day today. Out along the coast, it's been cloudy out there and looking a little damp at times pretty much through the morning, and that's going to continue probably into the afternoon as well. Checking those high temperatures yesterday, it was our hottest day so far this year as expected. Most places from Seattle southward in the mid to upper 80s.
Nobody hit 90 yesterday, at least not officially. But we're going to be looking again for that 15 to 20° cooling from those temperatures for today. And staying cool pretty much all the way through the weekend. Felt like summer, but summer is still about 18 days away at this point. Checking the computer models, you can see we've got this front just poised off the coast starting to push its way in. It's pretty weak, and it kind of breaks up. You can see it kind of dodges around Puget Sound during the day today. Again, we could see a few sprinkles kind of showing up there, but otherwise, most of the precipitation will be out along the coast and in the mountains. And then behind that, we will see a little bit of a convergence zone form as we head towards tomorrow morning. So, we are going to be looking for chance of some showers mainly up in the convergence zone in future sound tomorrow and then also up in the mountains both in the Olympics and the Cascades tomorrow morning. But then as we head towards later in the day it should uh dry out briefly before this next system moves in on Friday. That's going to be wetting us down with increasing showers during the morning.
Those are going to stick around on into uh Saturday and we're going to see a large upper level low kind of drift through here on Saturday and with that we're going to see a chance of some thunderstorms uh showing up especially as we head towards Saturday afternoon both around Puget Sound and up in the mountains. So, don't be surprised if you hear a rumble of thunder as we head towards uh Saturday afternoon. But as we head towards Sunday high pressure begins to build in. That's going to be drying us out as we head towards uh the end of the weekend. We should see a little bit of sunshine. Temperatures are going to stay pretty much in the 60s but you see yet another system poised right out here. That'll be moving in on Monday for increasingly steady rain pushing in during the day on Monday turning to off and on showers as we head into Tuesday and then it looks like we'll be seeing a few showers as we head towards uh Wednesday as well. But those should wrap up and at least at this point long range models indicate we should dry out towards the end of next week and maybe sneak back up into the 70s once again.
Looking at that extended forecast then you see we've got just the sprinkles today. Tomorrow not too bad. We'll still have those few showers in the morning and then uh some clearing in the afternoon. But temperatures stay pretty consistently in the 60s to near 70°.
Normal high right now is around 70 so not that far off normal. Friday though increasing showers move in and cooler temperatures mostly in the low to mid 60s. Saturday we'll see that chance of showers and thunderstorms and temperatures in the 50s to just near 60°. Pretty cool day for this time of the year overall. And then as we head into Sunday we'll get that break partly sunny mid upper 60s.
Rain moves in again as we head towards Monday. Decreasing showers Tuesday with temperatures staying pretty consistently in the 60s. Out there at T-Mobile Park cloudy skies today but uh we may have the roof open. It could be either way cuz we're going to have those sprinkles around, so can't really be sure of which way that's going to go. It depends on the head ground head groundskeeper's decision. You can see those temperatures running mostly in the mid-60s today, and not changing very much during the game.
So, actually a pretty good day to be out in the ballpark. Should be comfortable, and you can see Hurricane Ridge if you're thinking about doing some hiking today. Cloudy skies at the moment, dry, but good chance of seeing some showers up in the Cascades, and especially in the Olympics. We did see a shower move through there at Paradise a little bit earlier this morning, and our forecast overall does call for mostly cloudy. You could see a few sun breaks, but also a few showers today. Temperatures at the 3,000-ft level getting into the upper 50s, and tomorrow it looks like we might I think we're going to see a few showers in the morning, but then turning partly sunny in the afternoon with those high temperatures into the mid-50s. So, for today, we're going to be looking for mostly cloudy with a few sprinkles, mid to upper 60s to near 70°. About the same temperature tomorrow with those morning convergence zone showers, then turning partly sunny and drying out in the afternoon. Showers move right back in, turning things wet on Friday with low to mid-60s. Showers and a chance of a thunderstorm on Saturday, especially in the mountains, but there's also a chance down in the lowlands, and temperatures really cool in the 50s to near 60°.
Partly sunny Sunday with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s, and then increasing rain on Monday, decreasing showers Tuesday. Those highs mostly in the 60s, but as we head towards the end of next week, you can see those temperatures start to push back upwards, and we could see those temperatures into the mid upper 70s as we head towards the end of that second week of June.
