[00:00:01]Good morning everyone. A morning for me.

[00:00:03]It's probably evening for you. Um I've been got here this morning. There's a cow laid out two feet. See if you can guess before I say what it is. Two feet out. Um probably some people have already guessed now.

[00:00:21]Um so anyone who knows cows or anything or cat any cows will know what that means or what it normally means. So yes, got her in the uh crush to have a feel because she wouldn't stand for me in the pen. She did stand a little bit in the pen, but I couldn't feel her head. Got my arm in there. Found a tail. Found a bum. Yeah, scarves backwards. So came up, my great uncle came up just to help me just to watch over me. Pulled it straight out with a carbonade. She really she was really really dilated and everything. So it just came out easy as anything. Not big ass on the calf.

[00:00:52]Straight out. hung it up, lifted it up with its back legs to start with because I always get paranoid. We've had Caesars where they've just had fluid in lungs and it's killed them as soon as I can get it back end lifted up really maybe over a gate but not for too long. Don't too long cuz I think all the organs push down and put pressure on the lungs and stop them breathing. So just for a bit just to any fluid that might have just gone into the lungs a bit gives it a chance just to come out. Didn't do that for long though. Dragged it out. Cow come out started licking it. All seems okay, but calf's a bit shak on its legs.

[00:01:25]Bit of a cold mouth. So, I've milked just over a pint off her and chewed it straight into the calf. And we'll see how things go. It's been set up a couple of times. It's just too shaky its legs still. Didn't have the energy. I think she may have been carving all night and the calf's got tired. So, now we've g it that boost of colostrum. It'll be like There he is all snuggled up having a snooze now. has got a bit of a full tum tum. Roger has found a small piece of afterb birth. I've tidied it all up, I thought. But he's found it and he's eating it. It's got straw in it and all sorts.

[00:02:01]She's still looking caling here. I'm going to go home, get some dinner, come back. Well, help out at the farm a bit.

[00:02:06]A Joe's had a right wobble with me because I should be um cuz I'm I'm never there when he wants me there. But I can't really help having a breach calf this morning, can I? It's not like an everyday thing. They're only mcking out.

[00:02:19]I think they've got a team of them there. All Joe's worrying about is he wants to be able to have a nice long dinner break and a rest. That's all he's worried about. And I could be there to dump the uh loading on.

[00:02:33]We'll have a look at his car. It's got laid out now. Don't know why. It's think mother's probably trying to get it up and it's fallen over. Got car set up now. It's um looking a lot better. Does it flop down again?

[00:02:46]Keep I've got some straw around it. Not sure about it. I'd have preferred to stay and watch it all day, but don't think my great uncle really wants me here all day, so I'll not She's getting annoyed cuz Roger's running around outside. I've come home. It's dinner time. Brought me a treat. I bought a a ham sandwich and ham and salad sandwiches from Milliey's Cafe on uh the main road in Turn. Brilliant place. Like I am raving about it. Um and I've eaten them already cuz they're really nice and I was really hungry. So I'm eating that.

[00:03:14]But I thought these are rafters. These are man I have plunged them on top of each other in the car when I chucked them in. So it's my bad. These are Manchester sl Manchester tart. But they are so good. The baked stuff in there.

[00:03:27]Brilliant. I'm thinking of taking some of the shooting sometime.

[00:03:31]Looking forward to having these. Might save them for later tonight cuz I haven't pulled that massive sandwich.

[00:03:36]But we'll see. [snorts] Anyway, she wants to hand me some stuff here and I've got some paperwork to do and then I'm panicking already about his car. I think I'm going to get back sooner rather than later and um just spend some more time with it cuz you know yeah just going to go just going to go and look at it. I've got it up. It mouth's still a bit cold but it's trying to suck me. Just need to get it round there and on them tits but don't know I've had to aid it again to get up like just help it a little bit but it's using its own strength just very slow.

[00:04:09]It have fallen over at that earlier so it's an improvement.

[00:04:13]I hope it's not a bit brain dead or something.

[00:04:17]He's looking around though. It's there, is it? His head's there.

[00:04:24]Prove to me you're a doer and start doing something.

[00:04:28]I've shove and got it moving a bit and it's going to She's being totally frustrated and not very helpful.

[00:04:38]Going for a drink. Let her have a drink.

[00:04:39]But the calf is moving around a bit now.

[00:04:42]So, this is marked improvement. I'm feeling hopeful. We can get it sucking.

[00:04:46]Its mouth will warm up.

[00:04:49]It's moved, you know, a bit. The cow's fully cleansed, so she's fine.

[00:04:53]Um, come on. Come back to your car, you deft old booger. Come on.

[00:05:02]She's a big strong cow. She's a bit quick, but she's she knows me. I think if you got someone totally different in here, she could be a bit funny. She could be funny with me, but I think she'd definitely be funny with someone else.

[00:05:15]She um don't like being messed about with so much. She's probably showing off a bit now. That be a lesser, ain't she?

[00:05:21]Now it's not sucking my fingers properly. Like it's moving its mouth a bit and doing a tiny bit, but I'm just hoping being under carrier is going to prompt it to think I want some milk and start. It's not on lay down mode, is it?

[00:05:35]I mean, so much more stable than it was earlier. So, it's a massive improvement, but want it to think about sucking. It looks like it's thinking about laying down at the moment.

[00:05:50]It's not going to be a straightforward one. This I don't think. So, I'm just chucking these guys some silage on so I can reach you through the bars. We've given the cow we've given the calf a liter of colostrum substitute. It's had another good half pint out of mother. So that means it's had a pint and a half out of mother's. No, bit more than that. Pint and three/4ers out of mother's claustrum today. And it's had a liter of that colostrum substitute. So yeah, it's better. It's more mobile.

[00:06:20]It's about it. Mouth's still a bit cold.

[00:06:23]Hasn't got much of a suck reflex. That's the big worry for me. I'm hoping it's like just builds and comes into gear and gets some confidence. I've had it near a tit. I've had some milk on my fingers and put it into its mouth and it's still it's not sucking. It's not wrapping its tongue around my finger. It's moving its tongue about a bit and playing with my finger, but it's not really sucking. So, yeah, we'll see how it goes. Next sort of 24 hours are going to be very important.

[00:06:53]Lovely cows and calves here. This is the bit that like when it's going well, it's lovely. When it's not going well, I mean, the carving went brilliant. Apart from she obviously carving all night and no one's seen her because I live too far away. My great uncle don't worry to pay me coming back. Can't afford to pay me to come back and um yeah and there's no cameras up is there?

[00:07:17]I'm going to put some up but I'm going to have to get them out my own pocket.

[00:07:20]So I didn't do it.

[00:07:23]What I'm meaning is if we if I'd caught it carving and I knew it had only been carving one two hours and it was an issue and I came I should have been able to avoid the calf going through getting it's like exhaustion I think more with the calf. It's been in the carving process a long time and it's worn the calf out. The mom's coped really well with it but the calf's got tired. Um, so yeah. So if I'd caught it earlier, she probably might have been carving for god knows, you know, 10 hours overnight.

[00:07:55]Don't know the sad. It's hard. I don't get many backwards ones. That's the first one I've ever delivered here.

[00:08:04]Yeah. First one I've ever done here. So I've got home now. I think Roger's Why is your dog toy in with some of my merch?

[00:08:15]In fact, all this this will be me collecting boxes to send stuff in, but I'm not going to send it in a box like that. I'll have to We're not going to have a log burner anytime soon.

[00:08:25]So, we're going to recycling. So, anyway, some of my merch in here and I'm taking I'm meeting someone at the pub in a bit. I'm taking him a a t-shirt, polo shirt, I think. Polo shirts, t-shirts. I do like the t-shirts. I'm going to start wearing some more myself, I think. Only got one in rotation. I've got three of these. I love these. that good when it gets really hot like this weekend. Might even get the old pins out. Clean trousers on today. Always happens. Clean trousers. So what? Within the first hour of the day, I was covered in placenta.

[00:08:57]Right. Anyway, so I hope you vied the video today. Um bit of a short one, bit of a troubled one. We'll see what happens in into tomorrow morning and I'll get a quick shower and shave and then uh off out for the pub for a chandi or two.
