Gathering Recycled Materials for The Staff June 01 2026Added:
Okay, Monday morning in the kingdom, we woke up to plus 17 Celsius, but feel but feels like who cares? Still not fixed.
Yeah, I doubt when they'll ever fix it.
All right, on the yo-yo scale, plus 63 Fahrenheit, but feels who's care. Who cares? All right, it was one year ago today. We sat up on the tailings over here and watched the town of Whoville almost burn. Yes, some buildings burned.
The fire was unreal. the fire that the Gong Show mining company had started. It was burning heading north and then all of a sudden the wind turned at nine o'clock at night 90 degrees in 10 minutes and came into Whoville and then we had the fires over there in Hooville and then the hot ambers went all the way over flew blew blew to behind these trailers. Yes, it was unfreaking real.
And then we had to run, how would you say escape out of town again. And it was unfreaking real. But that's all right.
We survived. We got stories to tell. I will write a book about it when I'm when I'm in the mood, as she says. Yes. All right. So, one year ago, today's our Sunday. We got doggy blankets airing out. We got other things to do. We got to do the hydrometer because we had a very productive Sunday. The boss was very pleased that we actually got that much work done in such a short time. But then again, we're organized. And the 45 Chevy is ready to haul water after we refresh the carburetor. Yes. Give it a refresh. Take it off, shake it upside down, shake the dirt and sludge out and put it back on and call it good. And today's supposed to be a warm day. And also too, Facebook. Okay. Facebook drama book. I'm not getting notifications. So if you reply to a comment or posting that I did, I don't see it. I have to go find it. But I check every morning as I scroll the news feed or something like that or whatever to see if people are replying and then I feel loved because I get all these comments. All right, today we got a kind of a slow day. We have to go down to the neighbors there and pick up some stuff for the staff. Yes. And we'll see what's going on over here.
First time ever. We didn't get woken up by Jack and his family. They weren't having a family squabble first thing this morning at 6:00 a.m. If it was kind of nice I'm laying in bed. Shouldn't I be getting a wakeup call? Where's the Where's Jack and his family? We're just squawking. Yes, it's every morning. Oh, well. So, I got up anyways, had a coffee and enjoyed life. Yes, checking out the world through my computer. All right, we better go. Here comes the boss. And we made one full rotation. Yes, it's going to be a warm day today again. So, get our work done in the morning and then wander around aimlessly lost in the afternoon. Pretty smart thinking, eh?
Oh, here comes the boss. Okay, Monday morning in the kingdom and we read our hydrometers and we did it actually early. Instead of at 9:00, we did it at 8:30. So, we're going to have a different reading. All right, so the kingdom went down. Yes, we're 1450 is our cost. Zoom in here. 1450 is the cost and then add all the fees, rotation of the earth fees and everything. So, that's not bad, but it also warmed up and we don't have air conditioning in the kingdom. The staff dropped drastically. She went down to $13.61 plus all the fees. So she decreased by 212 kilowatt hours in one week and I went down 52 kilowatt hours in one week.
But then again I was burning the wood stove right up till last week and now it's nice. But we got the doggy blankets all out drying airing them out and it looks like it's going to be a nice day.
But we have some things to do for the staff and then we're going to how would you say refresh the carburetor on the 45 Chevy. Yes. All right. Let's have our coffee and then get to work.
Monday morning in Hooville. It's just after 9:00 a.m. And as you can see, the sun is shining. There's not many clouds in the sky, and it's warm. It's supposed to be another hot day, so I'll head inside, let the dogs out and make breakfast. Then at 10:00 a.m., I'll go over to the kingdom and we're going to move a few things around today and do stuff in the morning before it gets too hot.
9:30 and I got the quad and the trailer out. I have to get a load of sand from the front gate today for Herk's dog pen.
The puppies are digging underneath the steps again. Now, let's head over to the kingdom and see what we're doing this morning. It's starting to get hot.
Made it to the kingdom and it looks like my dad has the long low wagon out and he is fixing the pipes on the back. That way we can haul some more stuff. I think we are going to head down to our neighbor's place and go grab all the pipes and steel that is there. Might as well do it this morning while it's still cool out. Also, if you guys are looking for t-shirts and stuff, make sure you guys email Sir Rodney.
10:00 a.m. We got the pipes on. As you can see, we left the back ones on. That way, we can haul long stuff, but we put these ones on because most of the stuff we've been hauling lately only comes up to the back tires. So, this will be very helpful for us. Now, let's head down to our neighbor's place and go grab all of his pipes.
Made it down to our neighbor's place. We are going to pull this brown truck back.
I already put some air in the tires. I do have the little tank with me just in case I have to put some more air in, but we're going to pull the truck back. That way we can get into here where all the drill rods are. And there's a bunch of steel all along the back of the building that we will collect and take back to the kingdom.
Got the truck moved back as far as we could get it. It is in neutral, but for some reason the front tires would not roll as you could see, but the back tires had no problem rolling. And look at the plate that's on the truck.
down at our neighbor's place. And look who's flying over the kingdom.
I'm pretty sure that's a canoe on the bottom of the helicopter there. They use it to go out and find drill pads and stuff in the bush.
10:30 and we just got the first load done. I will bring this into the kingdom and park it over by the tank and then grab the fancy trailer and bring it back for all the big stuff here. Then we'll put that into the fancy trailer. So, I will head into the kingdom and switch them out while my dad brings the rest of the stuff out to the front here. Just grabbed the fancy trailer. Now, I'm back down at our neighbor's place. Looks like my dad has some more stuff for us.
This barrel is full of scrap steel that my dad can repurpose.
I'll walk up and show you guys.
There is a lot of good stuff in here still. My dad can use all of these. Even the piping and even this little piece of mesh here. My dad can find a use for it.
Especially all these little I'm pretty sure these are for plant hangers. So, those might come in handy for me.
This here looks like it used to be an old workbench or something you would put things in. You can kind of see the shelf right there. It has good steel on it still. So, my dad will use the wood in the wood stove and then repurpose the steel.
There is a nice metal box in here that even has a lid for it. So, we are going to take that as well. Pretty much everything that was on the back side here, we picked up. We are also going to grab the shower panels and the eve draft for the house. That way, in case I need it, you never know. Plus, my dad can use those shower panels for material elsewhere.
When I say shower panels, you can actually see the holes where the taps used to go. And these are metal.
So, it must have been from one of those old square showers, but this will be good to repurpose for other stuff.
Hello. 11:00 a.m. We just got our last load. Now we'll plug the extension cord back in like a good neighbor. Made sure to put it back across the road as well.
It goes into both of the buildings here.
Now we'll head back into the kingdom and drop the trailer off and then hook on to my trailer and go down to the front gate for a load of sand.
Made it down to the front gate. Now we'll quickly get a load of sand for my dog pen. The puppies have been digging under the steps which isn't good. So I have to put more sand there. I'm only taking the one load. So, we'll grab sand from the top here. We got this out of our little pond in behind last year, and we just flipped it up on top. Now, I will pull the quad around and back in.
Then, my dad can fill me with sand.
Didn't take us very long. A few scoops and the quad trailer is filled. I don't need that much sand. Just enough to go underneath the dog steps. They're going to keep digging anyways, so I will just have to keep putting more sand down.
Now, let's head back up into the kingdom and grab a measuring tape.
11:30 and I'm back up at the kingdom. I have to grab the big tape measure because this afternoon I'm going to measure out the deck on my house. That way, we can put a roof on the top and I can actually go out there when it's raining and windy and stuff instead of having to stand in the doorway to do my videos.
I'm officially done in the kingdom. So, I will head back home and start measuring out my deck. That way, we can put a roof on it.
>> Okay, lunchtime in the kingdom. And we got some nice stuff here. Yes, it looks a little rusty and ugly, but so is the first wife. Oh, I better not say that.
Okay, we have to watch this. These are old drill steels. They've been down at the neighbor's place since Christ was a cowboy. They have different threads on them, so we have to watch that we don't interbreed these drill steel with our drill steel. Yeah. So, there's a lot of neat stuff here. Every little bit helps.
And especially this rear end. I don't know what it's out of. It has the small bolt pattern, which is good for trailers. It won't fit any of the hot rod trucks, but it's the small pattern.
Good for trailers. And those are rims, 14 in. And there's a lot of nicknacks on this rear end, especially if you pay part pop the drum off and get inside.
It's those little spacers or little clicky things and stuff like that. That doesn't come in a rebuild kit when you order from Rock Auto. But look at the tires. Somebody was having a hard time.
Look at her. Oh man, just dragging right along. Got some eve straw there. Always good to get the drips. And also too, oh, [clears throat] all right. So, somebody made a little box. We want that angle iron. That stuff is good stuff. And this scrap bin. Look what's in the scrap bin. 2in uh 90 T.
All these little fittings. That's cost money in the real world. Yes, we're living in the real world. So, that's pretty good. We're very pleased. Lots of goodies. I don't know where it is, but we got a steel plate down in there.
That's what he'd like. Oh, yes. Oh my.
So, that worked out good. Very pleased.
Very pleased. Helping the neighbor cleaning up his yard as he's retired it.
I think he's 86 now. All right. Look at those flags go. Oh my.
Okay, I moved the 45 from over there to over here so I can use the workbench right there to put all the parts cuz we're going to do a refresh on this carburetor. Yes. take it off, shake out the crap and garbage and sludge, and put it back on and call it good. Plus, we'll reap the spark plugs, put the ATI uh vacuum advance on the proper area of the carburetor cuz we're learning. I didn't know that what a couple of weeks ago.
All right, let's go out burn some lunch in the microwave and then we can be out here. It's going to be a hot day today, so we'll be in the shop looking on that carburetor. Yes, I can't wait.
12:00 p.m. and I'm just getting ready to make lunch. I think I'll just have a ham sandwich today. I'm not that hungry.
Once I'm done eating lunch and feeding the dogs, I will come out and measure out my deck here. I have to do the whole frame and the bottom. That way, we can figure out the roof for my deck.
I will be putting this sand into Herk's dog pen later on once the sun moves away and there is shade in Herk's pen. It is way too warm out here right now to be tossing dirt around.
1:00 p.m. and I just finished up lunch and fed the dogs. I came outside and did a quick measurement of everything that I need to build the roof for my deck. That way I can be out here when it's raining or hot like today. I can actually sit out on my deck and enjoy the shade for being built upside down. This deck here is actually pretty square. It was only half an inch off on the X here, which isn't too bad. Now we know the measurements to build my deck roof. Now, let's head back into the dog pen and go shovel some sand.
2 PM and I just finished spreading the sand around Herk's dog pen. I even put some into Eve's pen as well. So hopefully the puppies enjoy it a little more and they stopped digging underneath the steps. They were also digging right by the door as well. So I filled that in. I have their dog house flipped up because they kept chewing on it. So now it is flipped up until they are done chewing. So let's head over to the kingdom and drop some stuff off. 2:30 I made it to the kingdom and dropped everything off. I'm officially done for today. I was going to do my garden and stuff, but I am just beat from shoveling sand and working this morning. So, I will do my garden and stuff tomorrow.
Hopefully, the weather is better. My dad is just going to work on the truck here.
So, let's head back into Whoville and put the quad and trailer away. Okay, coffee time in the kingdom. We got it up and running. I got to keep my back to the wind cuz it got windy out here. So, I did a refresh, changed out the gasket, and put another uh needle in cuz the pointy thing is not there. I don't know if we can see that, but it's gone. So, this thing had no choice but to keep flooding out. Like, everything was wet.
The spark plugs are wet. The under the carburetor was wet. Everything was wet.
Now, it runs a little bit better. But, it'll get better the more I use it cuz we got it all gummed up and we'll get going. But, it's too hot today. Let's go have a beverage, relax, and then after lunch, after coffee, maybe we'll put the air cleaner on to show we did something.
It's just too hot for us.
5:00 p.m. And this is the temperature we're sitting at right now. It's 32° C, which is 89° F. We even had the feels like on the bottom. It was extra nice in the kingdom this morning and this afternoon when I was doing the dog pens.
As you can see, the wind is starting to pick up. At least it's a cold wind. Now, let's head inside, let the dogs out, make supper, and end my day. 6:30 in the kingdom, the boss, please, because I worked overtime. And look at the heat inside the shop here. Oo. The only time we're in the shop is when it's cold, when it's snowing, and raining. Yeah.
So, that's what 10 months of the year.
So, we're in here. We put this back together. Yes, the rad's back in. The hoses are hooked up. The antifreeze in.
There's no puddle on the ground. We cleaned up the debris from under the workbench when we got flooded out. And that hood fits. So sweet. Yes. So sweet.
So, we're getting ready to take this out cuz it is the water truck. Yes. All right. So, let's walk back here to keep going in the shop. We took the tire chains off. We put the inside training duel on. Yes. It's a little smaller, but it's a thought that counts when you're in the soft ground. Yes. It's a training duel. And we put everything over here.
There's the tire chains marked in the bail and the templates for the fenders.
Yeah. So, we can get this shop organized and figure out what we're going to do.
All right. Let's put the sunglasses on so we can go outside. It's so bright out there. Okay. We got lots done today.
We're not going to look to the west cuz that sun is so bright after being in the dark shop. All right. Look at that. We got some salvage reusable stuff. The staff's going to put a canopy on her deck. She got more drill steel. She got more pipe. Yes, anything goes at the end of the world. Oh, look at the flags go, too. All right, let's go walk the dogs very slowly and call it a day. Talk to you later.
