Showers and storms continue through the week

[00:00:00]We're already seeing those showers, those storms starting to make their way into the state this afternoon. But first, let's take a look out over the very large array at our time lapse today. We can see it started off with some cloud coverage, cleared out for the most part through the late morning hours. But we're going to see more of those clouds building in over the next several hours and more of those showers, more of those storms as well. That humidity increasing, those dew point temperatures also increasing as we look out over Albuquerque. We really see a lot of that cloud coverage expecting to see a few more of those showers, a few more storms also developing even here in the metro as we head into this afternoon and evening. And that's going to be the case across the large part of New Mexico as we head forward into this afternoon and evening. Shifting down towards Ruidoso where we've had some fairly heavy showers and storms moving in just over the past 30 minutes to an hour where we've had flash flood warnings issued for the South Fork and Salt Burn scars as well as a few uh severe thunderstorm warnings down in Otero County. Uh but as of right now, sitting at around 78° with winds slightly breezy with sustained winds of 14 mph. As we look at the big picture, a lot of those showers and storms along the central mountain chain, especially in the northern half of the state and shifting into the northeastern parts of the region. Looking down towards uh the Sacramento Mountains, we see some very, very heavy showers and storms continuing to develop a lot of lightning from this very, very localized heavy rainfall, which is why we have those flash flood warnings in place. So if you are in or around the Ruidoso area, make sure you are taking that into account as those flooding waters are, as we've seen multiple times, very, very dangerous.

[00:01:44]Also have some severe warned storms up towards San Miguel, Harding County as well as portions of Guadalupe County at this time. These are set to expire in the next 15 to 20 minutes, but still anticipating more of those severe warm storms to come in over the next several hours. Looking at the next or at our current temperatures, that is, we're ranging anywhere from the upper 60s, upper 50s there in Clayton, significantly cooler compared to yesterday by about 20° or so, all the way into the low 90s down towards the southwestern parts of the state. So, still fairly warm for the majority, but those showers, those storms, they are bringing in some slightly cooler weather. Let's take a look at those daily storm chances as that moisture has already begun to surge into the state, going to continue overnight tonight and into our Wednesday morning, bringing in more of those thunderstorm chances across large parts of New Mexico as we head through this afternoon and evening. By tomorrow, they're becoming more widespread for us across the region. Uh more of that flooding concern will continue to stay in place. Do Do still have that chance of some uh severe weather coming from this heading forward.

[00:02:57]Even into Thursday, we'll hang on to more of those scattered showers and storms, and then a bit drier to the western parts of the state Friday, but still going to be a fairly active day.

[00:03:07]For today, though, we do have a marginal risk for the majority of eastern and New Mexico when it comes to those severe storms. So, large hail possible, damaging winds, and localized heavy rainfall that could lead, once again, to some flash flooding, especially across those burn scar areas. We do have those flood alerts, once again, flash flood warning in that lime green there. That is set uh for the next about 3 hours or so with that flood watch uh in place until about 9:00 p.m. tonight. Let's take a look at that future radar. Once again, we'll see more of those showers, more of those storms continuing to intensify as we head into the afternoon and evening, especially along and east of the central mountain chain, but we'll see a few popping up there in the west.

[00:03:50]But, let's take a look at those next 7 days real quick. We once again will have those daily chances of some showers, of some storms across the state as we head through the end of the week and into the weekend. Temperatures will be slightly cooler for some today, but we'll see that cooling trend continuing through the middle of the week, but still remaining near to slightly above average for those daytime highs. Once again, could see some fairly intense rainfall that could lead to flooding, especially across burn scar areas as we head through the next several days.

[00:04:25]That's going to continue through the end of the week, even into the weekend. As you look into the central parts of New Mexico, we do once again have that chance of a few showers, a few storms moving into the area as we head into this afternoon and evening. We'll keep those chances around through the middle of the week, and then we'll even have a chance by the weekend.
