Does our E Locker work?Added:
Well, hi there. Welcome to BSF Recovery Team. It's the next day and we're headed to go get oxygen um so we can braze that uh nipple into our housing. I'm just by myself and Jimmy here. Um we're heading to uh we're heading to town. Well, couple towns over uh to go get uh oxygen and uh then we'll be back at it. Well, we got our tank of oxygen. Now we're heading back home.
Okay.
Yeah.
Excellent.
>> Okay, here we go.
Got to get the cast hot.
Cast steel.
Well, that looks pretty Good.
Well, it's definitely not perfect, but I think that'll do. Now, we'll let the housing cool down so we can set our pinion tension, bearing tension, and uh then we'll put it together.
Oh, that's much better.
Now, we got to take it apart, put the seal in. That's right. It's a new day.
We got kind of sidetracked the other day. didn't get back to this. But now we're putting it together.
I got to take that off and put the seal in. Put that back on.
There we go.
Now, we didn't change the depth of the pinion at all. We just changed the preload on the pinion bearings.
Now, we'll get this washing up in our parts washer here.
in case that's what's making it stick off, which I'm assuming.
You know, I always picks the most in opportune moment to quit at the record games, but we had fun. Uh, hope you guys did, too.
Um, let me know. Uh, because I might have a little influence on whether or not you like the fact that we brought the records back. Um whether you like the uh games uh the arena events, whether you like the uh uh jalapy races, um we might have a little influence on that, you know. Now, I know that you guys would like to see those records come out here in the Midwest, but uh what we're talking about now is the record games or the off-road games.
and uh what you like about the event, what you didn't like about the event.
Was it too short? Remember, we only have three days um to put on the event and uh so tell me what you like most about it. Uh, tell me what you uh would like to see more of.
Would you like to see more of the records? Was the record portion too short? Was it too long?
Uh whether you'd like to see more arena events, whether you'd like to see more YouTubers there. Um, do you like uh do you like the fact that we have uh non YouTubers running the jalapes? Um, you know, things like that. Drop them in the comments.
Get the axle seals in here.
But I'd really like to hear your comments on the off-road games. um whether or not the vendor show uh was uh the highlight, whether or not you think we should uh split up the vendor show when we're there at our booth. Um you know, a couple of half days or one full day. um things like that.
Whether you like the uh different events in the arena, you like the mini monster truck or the mini trophy trucks, uh whether you like seeing the wreckers out there, whether you like seeing the tilapies out there, uh you know, things like that.
Uh whether you like the uh the military uh display of getting things stuck and um getting them out uh you know everything.
Drop it in the comments. Let me know and you know let me know whether you guys want to be the judges uh people's choice award or stuff like that.
So, let me know in the comments and uh go ahead and blow them up. I read them all and uh let me know and I will see what I can do uh about some influence.
I might have a little bit. You never know.
So, I'd like to really know and like I say, I will relay the information and who knows, we might uh we might use something you like.
Okay, let's put our locker together.
Not sure the best way to do this.
But we will give it a try.
Well, maybe that's the best way.
We uh flipped it over and assembled it that way.
Now, the bolts, 95 ft-lbs, uh, as near as I can tell, and Loctite I don't know that they had Loctite on them before, but we'll put a little bit on there.
Won't hurt.
Remember to do them in a pattern.
Snug them up.
Okay.
So, that one.
Yep.
There we go.
Once more all the way around.
All right. A little grease on our seals.
Okay, now for the heavy part.
Oh, that is heavy.
Okay, that goes on our right side and this goes on our left side.
I know it's the right side of the truck cuz you always refer to it as you're sitting in it. But when we're working on the differential, it may not be in the truck. Might be on a stand.
So, we refer to it as we're looking at it.
Okay, we'll torque those later and we'll see if we'll see if our locker works.
Okay, we got to have the key on and our locker is on.
Well, our magnet is energized.
No, it's not. This pulled back.
Well, I don't see our spider gear spinning.
So, that means our locker should be working.
All right, then we'll put the rest of it together and uh check it out. All right, we can torque these now. 80 foot-lb.
And we can put our wires through.
Okay, now put our clip on there.
And we got to put our connector back together.
There we go.
And we got to put our hose back on. You know, somebody asked how my tube my axle tube gets all that mud in there. The inner axle seal is in here. And this portion of the tube uh is actually open air.
And the mud uh just gets in there. Just gets in there from behind the axle joint here. Uh because there's no there's no seal behind the axle joint.
So consequently, your axle tube fills up to the inner seal with mud.
There we go.
>> Are those naturally offset for a reason there?
>> Yes, they are.
>> Um, on the Dana 44s, they're not, but on these they are.
>> So, it's like a a standard sixbolt pattern on the Dana 44 compared to the >> Dana. Yep. The Dana 60s only go on one way.
>> Okay. So, I noticed that you're using green grease.
>> Yes, I am.
>> Does that uh keep out the water? Is that marine grease?
>> Yes, that is marine grease. That helps keep out the water. It lasts a little bit longer than >> normal grease.
>> So, when you put the normal grease in and you're out at Trollhogen and only because I've been out going out there for the last 30 years, does that help keep the concrete out >> only for a few minutes? Well, at least you're being proactive about it.
>> Yeah.
>> Get all the mud and the corrosion off the m.
>> So, we clean those up with the DA because we can't always do that on the trail, right?
>> Right. I think on the last video that I was in with you, we did the driver's side. Yep. In the dirt. That's right. We did. We had to have a big enough air compressor that we can run that and clean it up. Right.
>> So, we had to get it off the trail.
Knock the big chunks off.
>> Just so you know, we're always looking for sponsors. 3M is a Minnesota company.
We could use more Scotch locks.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, come on.
I know one of those >> Rubik's cube.
There it is.
>> A second ago, before we turned the cameras back on, Eric decided to grab a different socket and he came back with the wrong size common of the day. I shouldn't doubt myself.
Now, are those uh shoulders head socket or shoulders head nuts?
No, they have washers on them.
>> Oh, they got washers.
>> Yep.
>> I couldn't tell when we were doing the axle last time because there's so much mud in them.
>> Yep.
How many years have you been How many years? What?
>> How many years you've been doing off-roading?
>> Uh, ever since I could drive or even before I could drive. So you're you're 29 years old. So you've been doing it for at least 28.
>> I've been probably doing it for about 50 years. You know what the best part is?
I've known Eric for over 30 years and he inspired me to do off-roading when I was young.
>> Yeah.
Yeah. We get everybody hooked.
All right. So it's dinner time. We're going to go have dinner. Uh, we'll finish putting this together. Might film it, might not. But, uh, thanks for watching, BSF Recovery Team. Keep wheeling. Be safe out there. And maybe we'll see you in the woods.
All right. So, you're recording right now.
>> I'm recording video >> and we're recording on the camera. So, >> uh, we're just testing to see how much of the drone you can hear. Uh, so take a little pan left and we'll take a little pan right.
>> Yeah, >> we'll go up.
We'll go back.
>> See how it rolls up above?
>> Yeah.
>> And then we go forward or down.
>> Okay.
and we'll see how much of the drone we can hear on the audio. Let's bring it in as as close as we can.
Okay.
So, that it's I'm going to say that it's 5 ft away from us.
>> All right. It's roughly 5T. Hi, everyone. Yeah. Now, >> I'm going to get close and I'm going to get away. Okay. So, I'm going to push stop.
