Restores Public Confidence!: Dr. Nigam On How SC's Order in Twisha Case Defeats Toxic NarrativesHinzugefügt:
now is after the Supreme Court hearing they've only really given a directive that the CBI should indeed take over the case as quickly as possible which we were expecting in any case but the court is also kind of sending a message uh to both families to not make this a media trial to not go in front of the media alone but deal with the investigative authorities.
>> Well, in fact uh this is a wonderful order. We have grown up with a dictim that justice should not only be done but it must appear to have been done. So therefore this kind of an order places confidence uh of the common people in law and justice delivery system. What was being done was through various statements in various social media and otherwise a perception was being created that so and so is innocent and so and so is not. That is not the ultimate aim of justice and therefore the Supreme Court is giving some kind of you know neutrality to the investigation and also not to have negative perception in the minds of the people because perceptions also matters and at the same time impartiality and neutrality in investigation is ab absolutely necessary. Therefore, the CBI should take over the case as soon as possible and all the statements should be recorded before the CBI and uh that will uh ensure that justice delivery system is at its best. And uh >> Mr. Num, I wanted to ask you a question about the mother-in-law's bail. She was given a bail a day after you know it was applied for a day after the FIR was filed. In such a case, in a case registered under the Dowy act, suspicious death of a daughter-in-law soon after marriage, should she have been given bail?
>> Well, that's was the most shocking thing because uh there is a perception I don't know whether it's true or not that investigation was being affected and things were being managed because she was an ex-judge and therefore since it's a case of a murder, a very serious issue. Therefore, giving the bail immediately was not required. She should have been remanded to police custody. So that proper investigation uh has to be done. And in my opinion uh I was slightly shocked when the immediate bail is given. Yes.
