Dew point temperature measures the actual amount of water vapor in the air and is a more accurate indicator of humidity and human comfort than relative humidity, which changes with temperature even when moisture content remains constant; dew points above 60°F feel humid, while those above 70°F feel tropical or summer-like.

Humidity is back!Added:
Tim Buckley outside in the weather garden and boy, we're back into the humid weather. Yeah, this is the most humid air that we've seen so far in 2026. One of the ways that you're going to continue to hear us reference the humidity is by showing you the dew point temperature. What that means is it's showing us how much water is in the air and it's a better way to measure it than relative humidity. You can have the same amount of water in the air, but as the temperature changes, the relative humidity changes. It's good for assessing how saturated the air is, but it's bad for assessing your comfort. All your body cares about is how much water is in the air. That's what it determines whether you can evaporate it off and cool your body down. Here's the guide.
If the dew point is above 60, it feels pretty humid. If it's above 70 like it is right now, that's when it's feeling more tropical or more summer-like. And that's what we're typically seeing in June, in July, and August. We're getting into that pattern.
