[00:00:00]Jazz is not a museum. It doesn't mean that you've got to play everything exactly the way it's always been played and ever shall be. It's not like walking in the Natural History Museum in London and going, "Oh, look, there's Joe Pass."

[00:00:11]Right? And listen to that and playing it exactly like that. Jazz is a living, breathing style of music. It has to develop, 100%. So, while there's a lot to be learned from learning a solo, say a Charlie Parker solo, which is things I'm learning at the moment.

[00:00:28]There's a lot you can learn from that.

[00:00:31]But, you shouldn't be playing the exactly what Charlie Parker played on one recording once in his life, right? Cuz that wouldn't make you a better right now. He never played exactly the same thing twice in a solo.

[00:00:43]So, we should be developing. We should be making it go forward. We should be changing things, playing around with things, seeing what happens. Now, the jazz police don't like it. I've got a message for them.
