At what point does ‘autonomous’ mean ‘out of our hands’?

What most people want is that if their car goes out of control, they want to be protected themselves. Car owners are going to want to buy a car that will be programmed so that the driver of the car will be protected. Is that moral? A lot depends on how the thing is programmed to make choices of that sort.
