Fat Cockney finds a new military flea market. part 1Added:
Hello there.
Fat Cockney here again.
I'm in Thetford for a military affair.
I've been in Norfolk, not been here before.
It's a pleasant drive if it weren't raining and it was sunny.
Let's get in. See if there's anything I can spend my meager earnings on.
And uh let's go for it.
I'm always on the lookout for a couple of magazines for my Ruger Precision Rifle in.308 that I shoot down at Bisley.
This fella here had a few British campaign medals from World War II for only £10. That seemed quite a deal.
What are these, mate?
Uh they're Thompson submachine guns. All right.
Just me something to do on a Sunday.
Apart from standing in bed watching rubbish on the telly. So you edit that edit that yourself over there? Yeah.
Yeah. Just do it all on me phone.
All right. Thanks, mate.
So all right, we've got you out of it.
We cut your head off.
Fat Cockney travels both here and far to show us treasures from afar.
Guns and swords that [music] shine like stars. Medals gleaming in the case.
Stories hidden in their sight. Whispers of a bygone day echoing in bright display.
History [music and singing] won't fade away.
>> [music] >> Fat Cockney roams through towns and cities bringing past to present place.
Every relic has its grace.
New fan.
Who's that handsome fat bugger there in the mirror waving at me?
Please subscribe if you haven't already.
It doesn't cost anything and it helps my channel to grow.
It also spurs me on knowing that people are watching these and enjoying them to continue making them.
Thanks again.
They're all different prices.
Yeah.
What do they start from, Katherine?
£10.
All right. Thank you very much, mate.
This military affair was very busy and very little space to pick things up and video and better. So I didn't pick any of these guns out and try to show them in more detail.
With with this fair, what I did notice it did appear to be a lot more, you know, down-to-earth normal people selling rather than old dealers. So you could you could get a lot of good deals here.
Um you know, there there was plenty to buy, but I I was after some decent obsolete caliber stuff um I could afford.
Um so I didn't buy anything at this show.
Here's why I go Militaria.
Got my new mate working on there, Aaron.
He's got his own little YouTube channel.
He's been doing it a lot longer than me and he's much more knowledgeable than me.
So do like and subscribe.
Only 50 quid for this Russian training hand grenade.
As it's training, it's perfectly safe.
Is this made from a jam jar? The official designation is number eight or number nine grenade. Made famous at Gallipoli by the Anzacs. So what they basically did was the Royal Engineers set up factory out on the field.
Professionally done, but still out on the field and that's what they produced.
Jam jam jar bombs filled with shrapnel balls, bit of primitive wire on the top, light a wick and off we [snorts] go.
So yeah, pretty interesting little thing.
They're they're a little bit bigger than normal. All right. Okay, so the the reason why this is bit a bigger head is because of the explosive used. So in in World War II I'm not too I can't remember what the explosive was used, but in World War I we were using um ammonium. Ammonia is really explosive, basically, so that's why it's so big.
That's the main reason. So this is World War I, was it? Yeah. All right. How much are they, then? Uh this is 175. This is the Model 1915. This is the first stick grenades that came out. Yeah. This is even earlier, this one.
This is 1912.
So that's a French destruction bomb.
Similar to the design of that, but to dis- for the use of barbed wire.
These are pretty cool.
These are improvised concrete mines. So it's from a egg grenade with a pressure fuse. The egg grenade sits in the concrete and then it's just a cheap little mine.
All right. Yeah, pretty cool little things.

Don't forget to subscribe.
Some lovely flintlock pistols here.
Wouldn't be out of place in Jack Sparrow's belt.
>> Some of these Sten guns here started from 750 pound.
Seem quite reasonable.
Oh, there's a lot of military cap badges there. Unfortunately, most now have been disbanded as we have such a tiny army in England.
I believe our police force is larger.
850 pound for a German machine gun.
Seems a very fair price. I believe it's German, but it's lot German than me.
A nice SA80. Don't see too many of them about at these fairs.
I did put his card in here at the beginning, DMB Militaria.
Anything here you like, give him a call on the prices. It's very hard to video the prices at these shows.
A lot of the time they don't actually have a price on it. Just have a reference number and the price is in their book.
If you do buy anything at the show, tell them you see it on uh on the Fat Cockney.
Uh it helps me.
This helps me cuz they then take me a bit more seriously and help to show their items and often talk about them to tell us a little bit more of their history.
Well, this brings us to the end of part one of Thetford Military Affair.
Please like and subscribe if you've enjoyed it.
