The Backrooms movie, directed by Kane Parsons, is a psychological horror film that successfully adapts the internet horror phenomenon into cinema, featuring a therapist who ventures into the dimension to save her patient; the film creates intense claustrophobic atmosphere through its mustered yellow walls and eerie design, though some viewers may find the pacing inconsistent and the ending divisive.

BACKROOMS (2026) Review | Is It Worth The Hype?本站添加:
Hello.
I like scary.
>> What is up you all? So, I just got back from seeing the new horror movie Back Rooms directed by Kane Parsons. I'm your host Brandon and this here is my spoiler-free review. Before we get into it, definitely smash the like button cuz it definitely helps and make sure you subscribe to the channel. Now, you all know I've been highly anticipating back rooms. Man, it's definitely one on my list that I really was looking forward to. And this big question that everybody has been asking yourself is it is it worth it? Is it living up to the hype?
So, before we get into that part, let's get into the synopsis of back rooms.
After a therapist patient disappears into a dimension beyond reality, she must venture into the unknown to save him. Now, this movie obviously follows a character named Clark played by Shwell and then he has a therapist named Mary.
And to make a long story short, he's dealing with a lot of things and he's going through a lot as a person, as a human. And obviously he had to lean on a therapist and try to figure out his problems. He works at a furniture store called Captain Clark's. And it's a furniture store and he's not getting any business. For real, for real. Make a long story short, he's going through a lot. But one day he ends up going through this this wall that leads him to the back rooms. I got to say, this movie is so bizarre. It's so bizarre. It's weird. It's eerie. And it just has a uncomfortable vibe to it. And this is probably one of the first movies that ever made me feel like I legit couldn't breathe. Like it's a part in this movie where I legit couldn't breathe. I don't know if I was like holding my breath because of a certain scene. It definitely makes you feel claustrophobic. I really did enjoy the main characters. I enjoyed the '9s vibe they had with it, like with the furniture they were showing, the the styles of furniture, just basically just one big time capsule. And it it just did its job as a a back rooms movie had the the infinite endless nightmare fuel. And it does have a couple of negatives about it, but we'll get to that later in the video. But for the most part, I think it it nailed it. I was afraid of, you know, them not really being able to tell the story without revealing too much, but they were definitely able to tell a good background story and keep the mythology and just the mysteriousness of this this story under wraps. They didn't peel it back too far. So, everything was still able to be creepy. A good story was able to be told. You were able to be attached to these characters. And I love like the backstories they were given along the way with like the main characters being Clark and Mary. And it was a full circle ending for me and it was a eerie ending for me. But yeah, I kind of feel weird right now. I feel weird. Um it felt like I just got off a roller coaster to be honest. And especially when I got out of the theaters, I was real jittery because it's like a movie that just makes you feel uncomfortable. It's bizarre and the way it ends it just it it leaves this weird feeling. You know what I'm saying?
But I I really I liked it. I had a good time with it. It's more on a psychological horror side. So, you know what that means? It's kind of different from the horror that is like in your face. It's in your face. Also, I don't think that's a good way to say it, but it's a psychological horror. You know, uh we got the mustard pee pe walls that play a big part in this film that really gives it this this essence of just some eeriness and things like that. And I know a lot of people had this question, including myself, was, you know, was entities going to be involved and things like that? You you just got to see this movie and just go in and just sit back and just let this movie take you deeper and into these obstacles that it it has planned for us. The ending, I will say, I think it's going to be real divisive.
I don't know if a lot of people would like it. I like the ending. And I'm going just say this, the the entities that we we do get, you know, shots of it, it's creepy the way they do it if even if we got entities, but I'm saying like it's like it's it's a creepy way they do it. And it it's a way that I don't know if people are going to enjoy it, but I enjoyed it. It was eerie. It was creepy. And once again, it was bizarre. And the the found footage just angle that they ended up injected in this really gave it that that feeling from the older backroom videos over on Kane Pixels, Kane Parson's YouTube channel. He actually has a future in, you know, film making. This has been a hell of a month for content creators and just for real for real just for for [ __ ] man. But to for content creators after seeing Curry Barker's obsession and now Kane Parson's doing back rooms, this this is crazy, man. I really think that this movie stuck to Landon. And when you really think about it, there's not too much you can do with a back rooms movie more than what Kane Parsons just did because if you go too far, you're going to derail into a different lane that you you don't want to derail into. But I do like how he set this up.
I like how he told his story and this is how I picture Back's movie being. But like I said, this is probably the first movie that made me feel like I couldn't breathe. Like legit, like I don't know if it was just me not noticing I was holding my breath because of a certain scene. But yes, I really enjoyed it. The moment that final act kicked up, you're super invested. And yeah, overall, like I said, I like the tense moments, the suspenseful moments. They did a good job with that. And the way they told the story, it was just like simple goes far.
That's best way to put it. Simple goes far with this back rooms movie. But it does have some negatives. And so to get into my negatives, not too many of them, but one that I feel like really kind of just has this movie, it kind of took took it down a little bit for me. It's like pacing, man. Now, I understand they had to do a job of willing us in to to to get invested a little bit with these characters, but I feel like the pacing, and maybe I'm on the island by myself, but the pacing was a little like, okay, we got to pick it up now. We got to pick it up. But other than that, it wasn't too many issues. It was just like pacing. And I feel like the ending the ending just I liked it, but it kind of throws you off from what the story they were telling. It kind of goes into this this interesting lane. I don't want to speak too much on it cuz I want y'all to go into this very very much spoiler-free. But you pretty much know everything about Backrooms if you invested from years ago, you know, the found footage and everything, but it just it takes an interesting turn. It does have some hat tips towards the other videos from, you know, back in the day, but for the most part stuck to landing for me. But the pacing, it did have like pacing like it it'll it'll do something and it'll slow down and it'll jump forward to that. I feel like a lot of the scenes were very jumpy, but I don't know if that was good or bad. It's one of those things like maybe it is good. It was a little jumpy because it kind of it it elevated the the suspense.
But overall, I I liked it. I definitely liked this. was definitely one of the ones I really enjoyed more out of 2026.
Um, it was great, man. Right now, I'm loving the direction horror is going into. You know, we got content creators making horror movies. We got some some horror movies that is different psychological horror. I'm all for it.
But if I had to give back rooms a rating one out of 10, I will have to give it a solid I'll give it a solid eight out of 10. I think eight out of 10 is fair. Um because like I said it did have that little pasting issue for me but for the most part stuck to landing. I had a good time with I love the characters and I just love the set just um the the the muster yellow walls. Shwell did his job.
You know you got to love the character Mary playing a therapist and um it was just good. It was so good from certain angles cuz I'm a back rooms fan. So but yeah I definitely think we should check it out and see what story Kane Parsons is telling for back rooms. I was almost said backtory back rooms. But let me know in the comments how you feel about this. With that being said, I want you to hit me up on all my social medias at I like scary and I will see you all in the next one. Peace.
