Philippines now classified as upper-middle income country

The Philippines has been reclassified by the World Bank as an upper-middle income country, with its Gross National Income (GNI) per capita reaching approximately 300,000 pesos, marking nearly four decades of economic growth since 1987; however, this classification reflects only average income and does not indicate that poverty has been eliminated, inequality has been solved, or that all Filipinos have become significantly wealthier, with future development requiring faster productivity, stronger innovation, and better quality jobs reaching all regions and communities.
