Ellis demonstrates a sophisticated grasp of population dynamics by prioritizing the removal of breeding females over random trapping. This is a masterclass in practical land stewardship that values long-term ecological impact over mere sport.

Saving Public Land From Wild Hogs & Revealing My New Job.Ajouté :
Welcome to the day's episode of the Yacht Yacht Show. We are at a hog trap. Finally, we got hogs coming in. I had set up just a regular trail camera over there before I come brought everything cuz you know hogs are just so finicky probably for the last 5 months. We just killed one on the club five from 5 months in May 15th when I killed it and with a thermal and now we're on a piece of property.
But let me tell you a little bit about something. We got We got like a hay field food plots. We got a shooting house there. We got a shooting bus over there. We got homemade boiler like corn feeders.
And then we're surrounded. The highway is that way and then we're surrounded by public land all the way around.
Thousands and thousands of acres.
So the only feed source they should have that's not natural vegetation should be right here. Even though corn is natural vegetation, it's just been harvested, put in a bag and I'm going to dump it out and I'll show you that here shortly because you know, we got that triple clean. We can't let them hogs have that dirty that dirty dirty.
>> [laughter] >> Anyway, I'm just waiting on my camera to come up to make sure I can do a little test run and then we're ready. While we're waiting on that, let's get some of that in there and see if we can't have some hogs coming soon.
Well, well, well, test run went well.
Oh, now we just need hogs, guys.
They come in last night and we just need them to come in tonight now that we got the camera system up.
I forgot to show y'all cuz in previous videos you've been watching, a lot of you don't watch my beaver videos, but they're in those when I'm doing those videos, I'm still prepping stuff. As you can see right there, big old crater.
That's what they do coming out here in the food plot, the hay fields, and uh just rooting up. And sometimes I just forget to show y'all some of the damage that goes on.
Some of the rooting.
They just plow it up.
And they'll do this all through the hay fields. Some of that I can't even see out there.
You can see right there.
Hogs and beaver are like the number one and two nuisance animals of Mississippi causing so much financial land and crop damage from both of them. A lot of people just don't know that it's from uh beavers as well.
But today, we're hoping for them hogs.
Check out that old bush right there.
The whole night, that thing camped out of it.
This is the landowner's little pool lake right here, pond. Go fishing. Look like there's a little blue dye in there or something. I don't remember it being in this dark the other day.
I feel like they blued it or something.
Does that look blue to y'all?
Dye still may.
Anyway, come out here. Yeah, they got a boat right over there. Come out here and fish.
I don't know what kind of fish is in there.
I said, those are some of the things that we had to remind ourselves when it comes to wild hogs is they'll eventually hit this they'll hit this water hole.
They'll root up against the edges looking for crawfish and anything that's staying cool uh during the summer months.
Uh but it can turn your family recreation into so much of a hassle. You know what I mean? So, but anyway, they had actually bush hogged some over here and then uh whatnot, but at the end of the day, wild hogs they can't stay.
Okie dokie, guess who slept through the notifications last night. Yes, we had hogs coming the trap over here and eat up about most of the corn. So, we got a little bit more feed we're going to put out and then hopefully tonight maybe I can stay awake.
Man. Oh boy, maybe I can stay awake. I'm going to knock this grass down cuz in the video I can see right here it needs to be knocked down. But, it doesn't seem I had about 100 lb, 90 lb of corn in there I think feed. Looks to be about 15 lb or so left. So, let's get and I'm going to scoop a lot of that that's way over there. I want a little bit closer here cuz I want to make sure that those animals, those pigs are all inside the trap. So, I'm going to try to scoop some of that up while I knock some of this grass down as well.
Let's knock some of that down.
Just to burn the camera.
Let's see if I can get it right here up a little bit. Might not be able to.
I don't think I got to use.
What I like is my camera's here.
I can see all of them right here. But, a lot of times they get pushed back and I want them if they're going to be pushed back, at least still be in the trap, you know.
20 lbs out of the 90 or so. Some of that's protein feed.
All right.
It's Antler Magnet. It's got roasted soybeans, peanuts, and corn in it.
And that's a Southern Seed & Feed uh product. If you're looking to feed wildlife or anything, uh check them out.
Antler Magnet, Southern Seed & Feed.
>> [sighs] >> Yeah.
Look like somebody dropped their opinion.
>> [laughter] >> Well, let's go. We got baseball with the youngest for City League tonight.
We'll be doing It's crazy warm right now. Check that out. 92°.
Pretty good warm spell.
Ooh, those young hogs just piling in, getting them something to eat.
Looks like we got the young hogs and one sow.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
So, yes, I did try to catch the hogs. I really did. Uh I stayed up about I don't know, a long time trying to catch them. Problem was, be straight up with you, I thought that was the big boar in there. A sow and like five or six come and then the boar and then later on it was five or six more uh smaller ones and there was another sow and they didn't all eat together, but I did want to catch that giant sow. I call her giant sow. She was a She was a big old sow. And uh and then by this time it got to the point to where I could catch them and so I just let it go another night. We got rain coming like the rest of the week. So, I don't know if I'll catch them before the rain or after the rain, but I do know this, if it does rain that's probably when we'll catch them, but I was trying to catch them when it's still dry so that way I could get my stuff and get out of here, pull the trap, leave what feeds here and then maybe hunt from the old school bus over there, but any which way, who knows? Who knows? I'm trying to catch hogs. And if I catch these hogs I will reveal what my new job is. If I don't catch these hogs you'll have to wait.
>> [laughter] >> Night number two, looks like the young hogs and a big old boar has done come in.
He's kind of acting bullyish.
I don't even know, guys. I don't even know.
A big boar hog come in last night and he didn't act right. Kept pushing all the hogs and then the other big sow. It is a big boar hog, but I fear if I catch him he's just going to jump out like they always do when the ground is hard like that. Uh anyway, I'm going to rake some of this corn up, get it back out there.
If that sow and those all those pigs come in or shots come in tonight, I'm going to get them, guys. I'm rushing back and forth. While I'm doing this video, I'm actually also doing two other videos at the same time. So, I've got three YouTube videos playing from one spot to the next spot. But, I'm actually changing shirts as I go. I'm like I go to the next video, I'm changing shirt, you know, stuff like that. So, uh I'm trying to make it all work. But, we're just going to get some of this raked up right here, put in a pile, put some more corn out, and hopefully they show up. Like I said, uh Lord willing, these hogs should keep coming because that way isn't nothing but public ground. Thousands and thousands of acres, maybe 4 to 8,000 acres of maybe more than that, I had to look. But, it's a lot that way. So, there should be no feeding that way.
This should be the only feed, even though they're not eating all of it. I put out 50 lb and we had about 15 there.
So, 65 lb and we still got 5 to 10 lb of corn still there. So, they're not eating a whole lot considering the amount of hogs it is, but should be the only feed where they consistently come back to. Now, can we catch that big sow with those shoats or will we catch the big boar? I need that sow because she's the one that's going to lay more piglets on the ground, >> [laughter] >> you know, so uh there's no need in not catching her.
You know what I mean? Because she'll just have 10 more. So, that being said, if I do catch her and then that big boar, we don't catch the big boar, I can always come back. I've already said it before, I can sit over there in that shooting house, pull this trap, he'll be coming back to the place that he knows where feed is, and boom, we'll get him.
That being said, uh see y'all tonight.
Right now, this is the third or fourth time we've been trying to catch pigs, and it seems as though we got the young hogs and a few sows in here, but those sows doesn't seem like they want to let everybody eat, but we're going to be patient. We're going to hang on.
Cuz the need to feed's going to overcome.
Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Boom!
We just caught a load. We got two big old sows and those young shoats.
Thank you, Lord Jesus. What a blessing.
Cuz those two big old sows would equal another 20 hogs if we didn't catch them, and we got them.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Finally, a nice group. Now, we got rains and storms coming throughout the night.
I'm hoping that those two giant sows are still in there. I was hoping to get one of those sows, but we got both of them in there. Will they stay all night? We shall see. I'm not going to get out tonight. It's about 9:00 right now.
Lord Jesus, let them still be there in the morning.
>> [clears throat] >> I guess y'all get to learn what my new job is tomorrow when we get through dragging hogs. Come on. Let's go!
Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent and discerning if he holds his tongue.
Morning. Morning.
I'm going to put these chaps on.
Forgot my regular rubber boots.
We're going to throw these on and get out of here and see if we can't get some hogs knocked on down.
I'm excited about the fact that we finally own some hogs. I'm probably not excited about the amount of work we're going to have to do, but hogs have got to be knocked down.
Now, you probably hear highway behind me.
Then we'll drive in about 1/4 mile, get the hogs.
Oh!
>> Two little pigs right there.
It's all right, just two.
That's two big old sounders right there.
Oh, man.
All right.
Move this over.
>> All right, it's warming up right a little bit.
These hogs are some bad looking sows right there. We're fixing to get them knocked down though.
Boy, talk about bad news.
Uh those I don't even know what to say anymore.
God, I've seen so many episodes. They just be bad sometimes, so or tough.
I said he's fighting for his life, too, but can't have them here, but I'm glad we got those two sows. I had two shots that were still on the outside. I thought I was supposed to have like 17 total, and I think I may have caught 15. Not really sure, but we'll find out here shortly.
Dude.
Hey, I'm just showing you how hard it is to get on pigs sometimes. You can go to yup yup dot com and become a fan subscriber and watch hundreds of head knocking videos if you're into that.
Thank y'all all for everybody who helps this channel. Come on.
I love it when it gets quiet.
Oh, man. Thank you, Lord Jesus for helping me fix this problem.
So, they rooted around last night a little bit.
That might be that big boar hog cuz that's some big rooting right there.
Usually, smaller hogs don't root that hard.
Root that big, but uh I did have two two shoats on the outside.
How many y'all think we got? We'll We'll save that a minute, but let me know how many you think we got. Uh I did have two uh that were standing here. I had a rifle in my truck. I don't know why I wasn't thinking about it. I guess I feel like a newbie getting back into this, you know?
>> [laughter] >> Let me wipe this off.
Uh yeah, I feel like a newbie getting back into all this. It's been so long since I caught a good load of hogs, but any hoos, we're going to give them a little time and uh make sure they're all done before we get to Now, I got to go over there and get my trailer.
That's what That's what we're going to do.
And the warden? No. I don't think so.
The law ain't looking for you? He ain't looking today.
>> [laughter] >> He ain't He ain't looking yesterday.
LOOK LOOK LOOK, HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW IF HE wanted to be on there. He's >> [laughter] >> What's your name? Johnny Smith.
>> Okay, I just want to make sure Johnny Smith, he's here. He's going to be my cameraman for me. And I got some gloves, but he he he might slip in them shoes.
So, any which way, let's get uh get a few little hogs loaded up and then we'll count how many we got. Y'all don't forget put your uh what you think in the comments. Let's roll.
I don't know if the mud going to help me or hurt me, Johnny. I don't know.
They're pretty thick right there. Yes, sir. That's a big 'un. Yeah, she holding them.
She holding some.
That's where one turns into 10, isn't it? Facts.
Kind of what took so long to catch them.
Cuz I wanted to make sure I didn't let these get away.
Oh, yeah.
Like just between those two styles, we would probably had 20 more on the ground within the next couple of months.
Leg day. Leg day.
Leg day every day in the hog business, huh?
Woo! What do you think that one would weigh?
She's 200. 200. I killed a 164 the other day with my gun.
She's bigger than that. Oh, gosh. She's bigger than that.
It's a red hog.
Yes, sir.
All right.
All right, guys.
We got the sweat roll. I know it's raining a little bit, but it's it's got it was under the cab, not on top of the cab.
>> [sighs] >> I counted twice, three times.
And I got 14, 15, and 14.
So, I don't know, guys. I don't know.
Y'all just I don't know. Y'all maybe counted when we uh time left it really fast. Maybe y'all counted it. But, uh we know we got two live ones in a big boar.
We are reset up. I'm going to check it one more time to make sure the safeties and latches are ready. And then uh we're going to get these hogs out of here, or at least from this spot, and move on to the next thing. And don't forget, hold on to the end of the show.
I got to wait till my wife gets off work to tell you what my new job is. Will you believe it or not?
Woo! And also, guys, don't forget the landowner actually uh dropped me a pin to certain to the spot from when I got here, the time, and I left a track where I could track my uh ways in and out. So, you can go to onXhunt.com.
Use promo code y'all y'all.
Save you 20% on the number one hunting GPS app out there.
So, it's always good when landowners can drop you a pin and send you in.
Take her out of four-wheel drive.
Other day, I was in a field. I don't know if you can see it or not. See all those lights, ABS lights, and brake lights?
The other day, I was in a field. I run through a guy's uh hot wire going to his hay pasture. He ain't had no cows. I wasn't looking for it. So, anyway, I run over the hot wire, and it wrapped up around my back Yeah, back right thing, and I guess it's messed up my ABS and brake plug-ins back there. So, I got to take it to Palmers and Madison and get him to look at it, but anyway, it's always something. I just didn't show it cuz I ain't going to lie to you. I was already aggravated that day, and I just didn't want to show y'all my frustration.
Okay, we got the pigs taken care of. Got the trailer back.
Ate some breakfast.
And uh my wife is already at work.
So, I come back to put some feed in the trap. But, don't forget you can also donate to the Yawt Yawt Food Bank that I do through Extra Table for my town. Uh I want to thank Kevin Smeltzer. Is that how you say it?
For your donation uh from seeing it from the last video we did. You just take your phone, go like you're going to text somebody. Instead of somebody's name, you just put in 4 4 3 2 1 and then the comment section text Yawt Yawt.
I'm going to send you a link. You can go to that link and then you can see everybody who's donated. You can do it uh unanimously. Wait.
Unanimously. Wait.
Unanimous? No.
Anonymous?
Anyway, if you don't want your name on there >> [laughter] >> you can just do whatever, but just remember every $10 makes 50 meals. And those are the people that we're doing it through the Methodist Church right there in my hometown. And uh we got a big gathering coming.
You get the food bank stuff through what we do at Extra Table and then the church is doing all this extra food. So, hopefully we'll be able to show some of that. We don't show all of that because at the end of the day a lot of that is the needy. Does that make sense? Uh and I don't ever want to be that guy that says like putting the phone in your face and knowing you're needy. The other stuff I do, the fish giveaways and stuff like that, that's just out of my own personal bank account. And I just do that to feed the community and everybody's welcome to come. So, but anyway, the Extra Table is just a little bit different. If you want to help with that help out. If you don't, that's okay because I also got a Yawt Yawt book coming out. And I'm going to expect every single one of you to buy that book. Because 65% of those of the profit that comes in to me, 65% of that is going to go to the food bank. So, sometimes I know how it is mentally. Sometimes we don't want to give.
But if we could buy something and have something then we're more apt to give. So, buy the book and I'll give the donation. And then you'll all be able to see it cuz it's right there in that link.
I hope that's right. I don't know. I just be trying, man. I just trying to help. Maybe the Lord will bless me somehow. Or more than he has cuz he blesses me a lot. Anyway, let's get this feed out.
Wait on some hogs. Come on.
There's that hog damage.
We're going to catch that big boar hog even if we had to shoot him with a thermal. We got to get him, boys.
But I was going to show you one more time in case you hadn't followed one of the previous episodes.
You can see right here somebody's granddaddy's trap right here.
The old meat The old meat box.
Hogs would go in here.
There would be a table that holds that in the air. There would be a trip stick or uh back there in the back where you would feed at.
The hogs would go in, eventually trip the stick that had the rope or wire that was holding the gate up right there. And when they tripped it, that fell and caught.
That being said, it's a it's a box style box trap box style trap, but I always say it's the meat trap because basically you just you just meat catching. And uh I don't think that trap Well, I know that trap wouldn't held 14, 15 pigs like I caught with my drop trap uh where we try to annihilate the pig population with. So, uh it's okay to use those if that's all you have trap for meat or trap for annihilation.
I'm the annihilator.
Back at the house after a long day. I've been working all day, Mom. Yeah. Yeah, got up early about 5:00 this morning.
You did. Rolled out. Luckily, I woke up.
I just happened to wake up and it was like 5:00, so I wanted to get there for daylight.
Caught two big giant sows and like 12 or 13 shots.
That being said, I told everybody at the end of this video I would tell them about my new job. Mhm.
So, without further ado I am now the janitor at the East We call East Webster Elementary School.
>> Mhm.
And I will be cleaning toilets scraping floors All the things.
>> All the things.
I mean, I applied for the janitor, but they gave me the custodian. Yeah. So, that means I can >> be the custodian here. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. It's like anything else what you do like for a living you really don't do it at home.
Oh. So, you know, kind of like I used to do electrical work I really don't be fixing I You don't do nothing here. I don't just came to fix something for us.
Her daddy just lay out. He just put something on the wall in Harlow's room to get him some whatnots on the wall, cover up some space and whatnot. So, any which way I know y'all probably like, "Why are you being a janitor?"
Cuz somebody's got to be the best janitor and that's why I'm going to be that way.
They ready.
Or maybe they ain't ready.
I don't [laughter] know. I needed the 2 years.
I needed 2 years to get my state retirement and that's about as easy as job I say easy.
You know, a job you could get to where I'm not like weeding every day on the highway with the state department or something like that. So, we going to try it, see if we can make it 2 years and uh at the end of the day, the kids got somebody to look up to. These these >> You going to get them in trouble.
What they going to have to act right?
>> take her to school, you can pick them up, you can if he needs lunch money.
I feel like >> on you. Yeah, and if we and if we wake up, you know, late or something, we just jump on the bus together roll on.
Anyway, which way? So, that's my job.
I'm going to be the janitor and I'm already got done uh got my YouTube rep.
She looking some into some of that what you call it that uh commercial type janitorial equipment. And uh cuz my hands might cramp up trying to scrub a toilet brush or something, you know. So, we need to hose it down like a firefighter.
Anyway, which way?
That's my job coming up.
Y'all know we going to have some fun.
Anyway, which way?
To the next thing.
Well, I guess I slept too hard last night. That old boar hog did come back in.
Can we catch him in one of the following next episodes coming up? We shall see.
Guys, I can't wait to start my new janitor job coming up uh the day after Memorial Day. It's going to be awesome.
I'm there to help those kids, protect those kids, and do whatever needs to do to educate those kids from the guy who's just going to be mopping floors and cleaning toilets. Anyway, thank y'all for being here. Help where you can. Be a light to somebody if you can. That being said, y'all know how it goes. Anyway, which way? Y'all have a good one. God bless it, as always. Jesus loves you.
