The video offers a raw look at how social intelligence is often built on the ruins of past recklessness and a lack of empathy. It serves as a sobering reminder that true self-awareness requires the courage to confront one's own capacity for being genuinely insufferable.

Why Our Own Friends Hated UsAdded:
They're just not scary. Last year's was way scarier.
>> They're not even real. This This fog is not even coming up to my hips.
>> The production quality really went down this year.
>> All right. So, we're It's pretty um known that we're we're all kind of stupid. I don't think we have to sugarcoat any bit of that, but um the reason I'm insulting all of you and myself >> for yourself >> is that because uh was there ever a time when like >> did you ever have a time where like you didn't understand enough social cues and just stuff was going over your head the way like you know like I'm not I'm the first person to admit that like I think socially um I had a tough time catching on to uh how cool people did anything.
Like I was really [ __ ] bad at that.
So like um these social cues just like the worst one I had was that when people you know like you got a group of guys and you're cool and then one of them starts messing around doing something funny and the next guy goes and then it escalates into like some pretty ridiculous [ __ ] I didn't know when to stop.
>> You did too much. You're having too much fun.
>> And I always went over the line and I was always a guy that people are like, "Yo, what the fuck?" Like dude, >> you're the record scratch guy. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
>> Ryan.
>> So, like with with my high school friends, that's reputably I was like, "Oh, dude, don't don't even start because this fool's going to take it to another level." And we're an example of that is that uh like one of the main stories I have with my high school friends is um when we all got our licenses in high school, we finally started driving. We thought it'd be funny to just like throw little things at each other's cars when you're driving, you know? And then we would throw like uh we started off throwing like trash, little piece of paper. This is like ' 90s SGV. And and then we started throwing like the tomato off your burger at someone else. Haha, it's stuck to the window. H. And then we just started throwing bigger and bigger things. And then eventually I'm just looking through my friend's car. I'm in the passenger seat and I open the glove compartment. Back in the day we had this thing called a Thomas Guide.
>> No, dude. the world's biggest piece of paper you could ever find.
>> It was like a big fold in some cases it was like a foldable map.
>> Um in other cases it was like a multi- ring ringed binder in which case that's what we had. And uh so I'm like I'm going to throw this [ __ ] So cuz I'm always trying to push to the next level.
I opened it up and then uh I threw it at uh my other friend's car who was behind us. We're on uh Rosemead going towards uh Lakewood and then I I threw it backwards like this and then it spread across his windshield like that and this fool ran straight into the car in front of him. That one ran into the car in front of it.
>> Oh, >> three, four times.
>> You prankster. It >> was a four car accident.
>> Oh my god. Ryan.
>> And that was my dad. Like I saw this in a cartoon once.
>> Yeah. And then uh so we all get out of the cars.
>> Yeah. We get the cars. I'm in my buddy Will's car with my friend Ben. We get out. His car is not that great. It's like a 1988 Sentra, which is cost him like 500 bucks. So, but then that's everything to him. So, he's like we get out and then the um I swear to God, we were waiting for like all the other cars to like they everyone pulled over. All four cars. We're waiting for them to be like, "Oh, it's okay. We're fine." But then all of them started grabbing their necks insurance. All of them were like they were all like Hispanic and they all got out and they all of them were going and then we were like, "Oh no." Cuz as soon as you see that, that's like how you know that everybody's going to want to get paid out, you know.
uh the ambulance came and then all of them want to go, but then they they had to like examine each person to make sure that they're actually okay or actually hurt or whatever. Um but yeah, they ended up >> Well, at least they all had insurance.
>> Yeah. Back then it wasn't like it is now where like no one has insurance. So like uh long story short, it ended up where he didn't have to really pay anything out of pocket. Insurance, everybody's insurance covered everything. His insurance covered whatever damages happened. easy.
>> But that was like an example of like where I had to be told like, "Okay, see that right there? That's what we're talking about >> where they're like that's your you got to get when we're not going that far."
You know what I mean? Like you got to pick up that like, "Okay, we can put this."
>> They had an intervention.
>> Yeah. Cuz if you're throwing things, I'm like, "Oh, I want to throw bigger things. I want to start throwing bathtubs and fucking," you know, like No, they're like, "You got to like [ __ ] stop." You know what I mean? And I had to be like literally told like not every joke needs to like reach a thing.
>> You're going to do anvil build next? You going to throw a [ __ ] anvil? What are you do? [ __ ] acme me. Yeah, because I was such a fun loving person. I'm like, "Oh, everyone's having fun. It's funny.
I'm going to turn it up." But you wouldn't have think though that like the it would cover the whole thing where you can't see it.
>> Yeah. No, it's by luck. But like, of course, I'm the idiot that thinks that that, you know, won't go horrible. But it's one of those things where I think like even to this day I have like a proclivity I have something in my in my uh instincts now where if we're [ __ ] around like we're I'm doing pranks or you're doing pranks.
>> That's when you get scary. Honestly, >> I got to like know I really have to tell myself where's the line.
>> I can feel you. I can feel I can feel you question it cuz I'm like this guy is >> I think at your age I feel like just being your friend I feel like you could push it a little bit more.
>> No, I think you're good, dude.
>> Cuz like everything's really safe and fun.
>> Hey, no no no. You don't want to know how far I'm willing to go.
>> Little just like a little.
>> You want to do a little bit more? You do it to him.
>> I'm willing to go pretty [ __ ] far.
>> I know to to It's not as fun. Just me.
>> He's so good at pranking. He does. The pranking does maximum damage.
>> No. Yeah. That's the thing.
>> Maximum effect.
>> I think when I was younger, when I was in like my high school age, which is 14 to 17, I was really bad at the social cue of knowing when to stop messing around and the social cue of knowing when I'm annoying. I never knew that I was annoying. You didn't get beat up or anything when you were too annoying?
>> I mean, I didn't I never got beat up, but I got ditched. I just was like, "Where'd everyone go?" You know, like that because like I don't know that I'm like the obnoxious one. I just think I'm making everybody laugh and then they're just [ __ ] sick of it, you know? So then to this day I'm always like, "Don't forget. Don't forget, man. You might be [ __ ] annoying everybody."
>> Well, so far so good. You're not, you know, you're not doing too bad.
>> Yeah, I've had a lot of time with it.
You know, you know a weird social cue that I wish I I would have learned a little bit sooner uh is that like like denying stuff that's like blatant does not help your case ever.
>> Yeah.
>> You talking about you talking about that didn't happen.
>> There it is.
>> Um I think for example Yeah. Like for example if I sit here and I go dude 911 happened.
>> Okay.
>> Right.
>> Why would you say that?
>> Exactly.
Now, now I'm denying everything that you guys are accusing me of. It's way more fun if I just go like, "Yeah, yeah, it did not happen." Right. So, so, so take this into account. For example, you guys know the story of me when somebody was like calling me a fat ass or calling me fat in high school >> and I'm like, "No, I'm not. You're fat."
That's case number one. And everyone was like, "What the fuck?" If I would have just not denied that moment, you know what I mean? Aha.
>> Would have just been like, "Act me for who I am." I think I think people would have liked me more. I remember I was going through puberty one time and I was in summer school and I had to, you know, you have to go up sometimes [ __ ] stupid ass whack teachers make you like read a chapter on in the front, you know, just make sure you're paying attention or some gay [ __ ] I'm going through puberty. I'm like, "Fuck, it's my turn to read this chapter." I go up there. I'm like, archaeological differences between it's so, you know what I mean? And then I remember somebody was like, "Hey, dude, he's going through puberty." Oh, I choose chose to go, "No, I'm just sick."
>> Oh, no.
>> You know, when I had a I could >> I see what you mean. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> You have so many opportunities at that in hindsight instead of being embarrassed just be like, "Hey, but late but great." Right.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Right. Exactly.
Oh my god. Perfect example. Yeah. If you could just accept and just make fun of and the truth cuz you keep trying to win battles instead of the war. I remember I had a no reason boner one time. You remember no reason bonus?
>> Those are wonderful.
>> You just [ __ ] get little NRB for no reason, right? And then you got that one [ __ ] Mexican homie of yours is like >> what's that?
And then you know you make it all awkward and [ __ ] You're like dude what [ __ ] what are you talking about, dude? What's what when you're really like dude man I just got [ __ ] boner.
I don't know why is honestly just a better answer.
>> And then just move forward.
>> But you get so bashful.
>> Oh, you you gave me a boner, Jose.
>> Yeah. You know what I mean?
>> And it's like, dude, you >> spend you spend so much time just like hoping that like you're like, "Oh, man.
I really don't want to get caught in this thing that's so oblit.
>> It takes so long to get that wit, though. Self-deprecation takes a really long time to >> so I wish that social key I I w I wish I would have just understood that a lot sooner cuz I feel like I didn't understand that till >> because you look so lame trying to defend nothing.
>> I think it took me till like senior year of high school to understand.
>> So you were saying no I'm not for like that long >> as a junior.
>> I bro I got a good one. I think I think for a while I would I would always equate I thought being funny was complaining about stuff all the time and like trying to get everyone to like join in with you. And for a while I would just always try to like complain about stuff that I thought that I thought was funny and people would kind of just like be like, "Dude, you complain a lot about shit." And I was like, "No, but like you know, like it's funny though, isn't it?"
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like I just thought it's old Jewish humor pretty much like like, "Oh, what's the deal with all this stuff?" You know, just like >> you're Seinfeld. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Or like like Larry David. Like I would I would always try to be like, "Oh, yeah, that's actually funny." Like or like the way Bill Burr would like dog on things.
I'll be like, "Oh, yeah, it's funny." I was like, "Yeah." So, in my head, I was I was just to to like start conversation with people, I would just complain about [ __ ] like, "This [ __ ] lame. Isn't this Isn't this stupid? Isn't this dumb?"
>> Yeah. It's like everywhere you go, you go to the theater, can you believe they pay a guy to tear a stub?
>> What is that?
>> Yeah. What's the deal with >> But they just thought he was being a But it's like unpleasant.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What's the deal with this foo over here just tearing tickets?
>> Like, let's not invite Nick, dude. All he does is he's so negative. And it would be Tiff be like, "You complain about >> You're complaining about every idiosyncrasy that happens in >> Yeah. And it just like And I go, "Yeah, that's annoying, dude.
>> I got to cut that shit."
>> But that was your stick.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Cuz in my head I'm like, "Oh, I thought that was >> Yeah, because that's comedy."
>> Yeah. But it's it doesn't >> But it doesn't it doesn't match in social settings.
>> No, no, no, no. Or all the time.
>> All the time, dude. I blow my [ __ ] brains out, too. And then and then I catch myself doing it and I hear myself and I go I'm just mad all the time now. Like because then it would just change your mood. It wouldn't just be like a fun >> It's a bad vibe. Especially in a group.
>> Oh, it's a terrible vibe. And everyone goes, "Nick's annoying, dude." And I go, "Yeah, it's fine."
>> Like you go to not scary farm, these ghosts aren't even scary.
>> I could see.
>> I'm not the least bit frightened.
>> I know you're a 14-year-old boy under there.
>> Are you wearing New Balances? They don't even touch you. It doesn't matter.
>> They're not scary.
>> You're just a Jewish kid the whole time.
>> They're just not scary. Last year's was way scarier.
>> They're not even real. This This fog is not even coming up to my hips.
>> The production quality really went down this year.
>> The rapids aren't even open.
Wasn't worth a ticket. brought my sandals for nothing.
>> All right, dude. That's it. We're done.
Wrap it up.
>> All he does is tear the stubs.
>> That's your only job.
>> That's all you do, I guess.
How do you How do you get a promotion?
I guess it's better than being on the street.
For me, I'd rather be homeless.
>> How are you guys so Jewish? Like, where did they get this [ __ ] >> It's on the TV. They show us.
>> Might as well hire someone to put the stubs back together.
>> Oh, I got an idea. Why don't they just hire homeless people to do this job?
>> Then they won't be on the sidewalk. I guess it's part of the movie experience.
