SoFi Wants to Be the Stablecoin Liquidity Hub for Banks

[00:00:01][music] We're really excited about it. We think that it is the right chain to use for payments, partially because of the cost, partially because of the settlement speed, [music] and ultimately the throughput. Ben Reynolds is a SVP and head of big business banking at SoFi.

[00:00:14]After building Silvergate, one of the earliest banking networks for crypto companies, he says stablecoins are the key unlock for bringing payments on chain. Ben shared at Solana Accelerate that SoFi stablecoin is expanding on Solana, betting that faster settlement and lower cost will define the next [music] generation of finance. How do you think about the state of stablecoins today, and what is maybe the biggest thing inside of SoFi that you guys are focusing [music] on in this front?

[00:00:38]>> There's sort of three things that we're focused on at SoFi in this area. First of all, we have 15 million retail clients. Just enabling those clients to buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana. The second thing is we launched SoFi USD in December. So, that's relatively new. The third is big business banking. So, really sort of the intersection of stablecoins, liquidity, and everything that's going on in digital assets.
