The Most Feared Woman In Philippine History #history#historyshorts#gabrielasilang#philippinehistoryAjouté :
Spanish feared one Filipina more than an entire army and soon her name would spread across the mountains of Ilocos.
During the 1700s, the Philippines suffered under brutal Spanish rule. Many Filipinos were already beginning to lose hope, but in the province of Ilocos, a rebellion was growing against the Spanish Empire and beside that rebellion stood Gabriela Silang.
Her husband, Diego Silang, became one of the most dangerous revolutionary leaders in the country. The Spanish wanted him dead.
In 1763, Diego Silang was assassinated.
Many believed the revolution would finally collapse, but instead of hiding in fear, Gabriela Silang did something nobody expected. She took command of the rebellion herself. Wearing traditional warrior clothing and riding through the mountains on horseback, she began leading Filipino fighters against Spanish forces. Soon, stories about Gabriela Silang spread across nearby towns. Spanish soldiers became terrified of her growing army.
>> [screaming] >> Her revolution continued to grow stronger. Even the Spanish Empire struggled to stop her.
But in 1763, Spanish troops finally tracked down Gabriela Silang and her fighters.
She was eventually captured.
The Spanish publicly executed Gabriela hoping her death would end the rebellion forever, but they were wrong. Even after her death, Gabriela Silang became one of the greatest symbols of Filipino resistance, a fearless warrior history would never forget.
