Weather forecasting involves analyzing temperature patterns, precipitation chances, and storm systems to predict conditions. Cool temperatures (5-10°F below average) in the 30s can lead to weather watches and advisories, while warm-up periods with temperatures reaching 80°F often bring increased storm chances. Meteorologists use specific data points like current temperature, dew point, wind speed, and historical averages to create accurate forecasts, including 7-day predictions that account for factors like cold fronts and seasonal changes.

KDKA-TV Morning Forecast (5/11)Añadido:
Well, I did see some little youth leagues playing out yesterday. I think I saw on my drive home a soccer game.
>> Oh yeah. I saw another like T-ball kind of thing going on, too. It's that time of year.
>> Absolutely. It's and it is so fun to go out and see the kids and play, especially the really little ones who are just running any different direction and they just want to kick the ball.
>> Especially when it's not raining, too.
>> Exactly. That's what makes it nice. So, okay Ron, that plus we need some pool weather.
>> [laughter] >> All right. Well, we are going to see temperatures. I think most folks would say, "Hey, you need to 80° weather or higher before you get to the pool weather." We do actually have some 80s on the board on your 7-day. I will not make you wait too long, but let's get into your forecast this morning. Hey, we're at 41° winds out of the northwest at 5 mph. Dew point at 32°. It's a little bit of a cool start as you're stepping out the door. These temperatures are a good 5 to 10° cooler than the average for this time of the year. Hey, look at Butler, 36°, Knox 35, Franklin 37. We do have some areas that are down into the mid-30s this morning and overnight tonight, I'm expecting temperatures to drop even lower than that. They do have some watches, warnings, and advisories because of the cool air that's going to be in place.
So, Tuesday morning temperatures will pretty much everywhere be into the 30s, especially if you're looking at those higher elevations, we'll be well into the 30s. Here's what the forecast numbers are at this point. We could easily be a degree or two even cooler than these numbers that I'm showing you right here for Tuesday morning. Most are going to be dry through Wednesday. Now, I do have small chances for some rain both today and tomorrow. If you see some rain today, it would not last very long.
It would not be very much, but there is an outside shot that you will be looking at that. The big warm-up, let's get over to your 7-day. It comes in for your weekend. Today, 63 high temperature. Let me go and just kind of show you the forecast. 9:00 54, noon temperature at 60, 63 at 3:00 today. We'll be into the 60s for the rest of the afternoon.
Sunset, by the way, is almost at 8:30 tonight. It is way late now. We're getting those really long days are starting to slide in. 65 your Tuesday high again in the morning hours. That is when we're going to see those really cool temperatures. Wednesday has the best chance over the next week to see some rain. We're going to see it early, so everyone's going to see some rain, some rumbles in the morning hours. And then as the cold front comes through later on, we're going to get a quick break, and then at around 3:00 or 4:00, right as the kids are getting out of school, maybe a little bit later than that, we'll see some stormy conditions coming through. Could have some severe weather with strong winds because of that. 58 your Thursday high. Let's get into the weekend warm-up. 70 your Friday high. Probably not quite pool weather for you Megan and Erica there, but I do have us hitting the 80° weather temperature Saturday and Sunday. And look at Monday.
I don't think anyone's going to deny that's pool weather. Here's the thing though, as the temperatures go up, we're going to have some storm chances each one of those days. So, we'll be certainly watching that as we're going to get to your weekend.
