This initiative marks a significant shift toward pragmatic medical innovation by prioritizing veteran well-being over long-standing regulatory inertia. It is a rare instance where cutting bureaucratic red tape could genuinely catalyze a paradigm shift in treating chronic mental health conditions.

What Trump Just Signed For Veterans Will SHOCK YOUAdded:
It's Sunday, April 19th, and we're looking at a major new move out of the White House. Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order accelerating access to promising psychedelic treatment for serious mental illness, especially for the millions of Americans and veterans that are stuck in treatment resistant conditions. The order directs the FDA to fasttrack priority reviews for drugs with breakthrough therapy designation. It opens the right to try pathways for investigational compounds like Ibagain and commits 50 million through ARPA to match state research investments. This is huge. Veterans have been trying to get this through for years. Let's pop directly to X and let's see how it went down and how this whole situation came about. And a little quick hint, it did involve Joe Rogan, which is epic. So, here we are on X, my friends, and we're going to talk about what actually happened between Joe Rogan and the president to get this innovative new treatment for veterans through. Not an easy thing, right? It's been tried to be done for decades. So, here's what Eric Dory posted. He said, "Wow." Joe Rogan reveals President Trump immediately offered him FDA approval for a psychedelic treatment in a text chain because the data was so convincing and stunning. I want to tell everyone how this happened, said Rogan. I send President Trump some information. With one dose of IBA gain, more than 80% of people are free of that addiction. With two doses, it's more than 90%. I sent him that information. The text message came back. Sounds great. Do you want FDA approval? Let's do it. It was literally that quick. For 56 years, we've lived under those terrible conditions. We're free of that now. We're free of that now thanks to all these people that you see next to me and thanks to President Trump. That's awesome. As you can see, this is an innovative veteran treatment.
It's backed by research. Let's have a listen to actually what went down in the Oval Office.
>> How this happened. I sent President Trump some information. Uh we have a gigantic opiate problem in this country.
Obviously, uh in 2024, more than 80,000 people died of overdoses. It's it's a horrible number.
>> It's crazy.
>> And there's more than 5 million people that are addicted to opiates right now in this country. One dose of ibagane, more than 80% of people are free of that addiction. With two doses, it's more than 90%. I sent him that information.
>> The text message came back. Sounds great. Do you want FDA approval? Let's do it.
>> It was literally that quick.
>> Bureaucracy.
>> These drugs are illegal not because they're harmful. They're illegal because of the 1970 Controlled Substances Act that was passed by the Richard Nixon administration. They did it to target the civil rights movement and the anti-war movement. It's not because these drugs harm people. And >> wow, >> for 56 years, we've lived under those terrible conditions. We're free of that now. We're free of that now. Thanks to all these people that you see next to me and thanks to President Trump.
>> It's awesome.
>> It's a big day for veterans. It's a big deal. Think of all the PTSD that can be cured, the thousands of veteran suicides that can be prevented. This is massive.
Really cool. And then of course, people are going to come out of the woodwork and challenge this, right? So, I thought this was pretty hilarious. But it just shows the trolls are going to come out even when good things are happening.
This person said, "Trump heard a man with no relevant qualifications make seriously substantiated claims and said, "Let's do it. I'd prefer a president who didn't make take medical advice from Joe Rogan, firstly, and secondly, one who stopped to think things through." Well, all of those medical information statistics weren't just from Joe Rogan.
Joe Rogan repeated actual statistics that have been found through actual facts and data and basically preventing veterans from committing suicide. And it's been that I gain, that substance that's being talked about specifically right now, can be used to help veterans with PTSD and can also remove their addictions to substances that are just covering up PTSD and other things. But of course, the trolls are going to come out of the woodwork. Of course, they're going to do that. Anytime President Trump gets a win or Joe Rogan gets a win, there's going to be trolls that come out of the woodwork. And sometimes that just shows you that you're on the right path. When the trolls start trolling, it's like, "Okay, we're actually on to something here." So, right now, the FDA, HHS, VA, for all you acronym lovers, and private sectors are being lined up to cut through decades of red tape and get these therapies moving faster than ever. This is American resolve at work. the coming months could reshape how mental illness is handled with veterans for millions of Americans.
But what just happened is extremely impressive. So, let's break it down.
President Trump signed that executive order removing barriers to psychedelic drugs already granted through breakthrough therapy status for mental illness. It instructs the FDA to issue national priority vouchers so reviews don't get buried in paperwork. It creates a right to try path for eligible patients and requires the attorney general to review rescheduling once phase three trials finish. So completely making these therapeutic drugs instead of criminalized drugs that just got caught up in the cultural narrative of the day, which was terrible from the Nixon administration as we heard Joe Rogan mention. But this also puts some teeth behind these actual trials. It directs $50 million in matching funds for state psychedelic research programs.
And it orders collaboration between Health and Human Services, the FDA, and the VA. Getting these bureaucracies to work together is not necessarily the easiest thing in the world, as you can imagine. But now they're being forced to. This is how you break the bureaucracy at least a little bit is you tell them, "No, you're going to actually work together and yes, we're actually going to remove some red tape and this isn't just going to be lip service to removing the red tape." This also brings in the private sector to boost clinical trials and get evidence, generate that evidence so we can learn how this is helping veterans to better build a program to help more and more veterans.
The thing that I really love here though, this isn't just idle talk. The United States is using every tool it has to deliver real hope to people, veterans specifically, but all Americans, whose conditions haven't responded to existing treatments, especially addiction conditions. So, when the administration slides in and actually does something like this with teeth to get the job done, it's like the red tape is about to get pounded long and firm like it's been dodging for years. But how the mental health community reacts to this level of speed and decisiveness will decide if we finally get this breakthrough or we just keep watching the same old cycle without actual action taking place. But let's look at the scale of what we're up against in this entire movement. Over 14 million American adults live with serious mental illness that substantially interferes with daily life. 8 million are already on prescription medication. Suicide rates among veterans are more than twice as high as the non-veteran population with more than 6,000 veteran suicides every year for the past two decades, which is just terrible and completely unacceptable. And this program right here could finally be something that completely reverses this terrible trend.
The order puts special focus on veterans and treatment resistant cases, pulling in worldclass research from Stanford, Harvard, John Hopkins that show real promise with psychedelics. Even though those schools can get a little wild, I think their psychedelic programs are probably topnotch, wouldn't you say? But the reality is that each new barrier removed gives people a fighting chance.
And Americans have been swiping left on slowwalked mental health solutions for years. But this order just matched and rolled up hard to actually have something that works, backed by science.
If anyone thinks this is just another press release, I think we're all about to get a masterclass and why bold actions like this actually move the needle. And it can't be understated.
Credit to President Trump for stepping in and removing the bureaucracy. Most presidents would probably waffle for months, weeks, see if their special interest groups would actually allow them to sign this deal. But instead, at this point, we're seeing the bureaucracy being cut real time. But the key takeaway is that should grab every American's attention. The executive order fasttracks psychedelic therapies that have already shown preliminary evidence of major improvement over current options. Literally giving people actual options that work and not just using some old outdated law to direct society. This leverages the right to try act Trump signed in his first term commits real money to match state research and orders collaboration between the FDA, VA and private sector to speed up clinical trials and evidence generation. And then standing right there at the signing ceremony, I want to highlight someone that was retired Navy Seal Marcus Lutrell, the lone survivor of Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005, whose story became the book and movie Lone Survivor. Lutrell has openly credited IBAN therapy with saving his life after severe PTSD and addiction.
The kind of pain that most people couldn't imagine. I mean, the things this guy has seen and done are just wild. He looked the president in the eye and said, "You're going to save a lot of lives through it. It absolutely changed my life for the better." The warning is clear. The administration is done waiting on slow bureaucracy when Americans and veterans are suffering.
And coming from Marcus Lutrell is just something that can't be understated. If anybody knows the struggles of being a veteran and how hard it can be, it's Marcus Lutrell. So incredibly impressive that he was there giving his direct exact feedback to the president. I think that's just huge. And getting real time information from someone who's been there, done that, gotten the therapy and it's completely changed their life. This could be the story of thousands or hundreds of thousands of veterans in the next few years, which is just incredibly exciting for me. Seeing veterans struggle has been something that I've noticed throughout my career. I've had my own struggles, but just seeing the fact that now veterans are going to get help that actually can work, it really makes me feel extremely grateful for this administration stepping up and doing something to help veterans in this way. This targeted approach, it maximizes hope while minimizing unnecessary delays and underscores America's unmatched ability to innovate and protect its people. And that's what the government should be doing. That's what our government exists for it. Our government should be innovating and protecting people. And so it's nice to finally see it doing that. But the ball is now squarely in the research and regulatory community's court. And 50 million ain't nothing. That's going to help out a lot with these new mental health options and totally blast these old systems out of the water. Out of the way, old systems. It's time for the new guard to step in and actually give veterans something that works. And finally reverse the trend. I mean, we got to reverse the trend. 6,000 veterans lost a year for suicide. That's just insane and it's nothing that our society should put up with. But the FDA, the HHS, they're providing heavy screening and fasttracking the firepower behind this actual legislation while the VA delivers targeted under the radar like support for veterans. A lot of it is confidential. So these treatments could be done confidentially for veterans. But the real gamecher that I see happening is the advanced research infrastructure and the national priority voucher program. These systems fly persistent missions basically feed information and real-time data to decision makers showing how effective this program is in real time so it continuously can get more and more funding. And so all of this and we even saw Robert Kennedy up there. All of this run by professionals who keep everything evidence-based and tightly controlled, making sure that the results are getting veterans what they need. And it's all under the appropriate medical care. So, let's move to the 4D chess strategic analysis section about what all this really means.
Strategically, this is a masterclass in measured pressure on old systems that don't work. The US is signaling that any future approvals will be surgical, going for the actual root cause itself.
Veteran treatments that actually work are now going to be the focus.
Hopefully, the VA is now completely understanding that innovative treatments are on the table. These psychedelic researchers that have been doing all this amazing work, people like Whiz Buckley have been out there. Whiz Buckley has been a huge advocate of psychedelic treatment for veterans with Joe Rogan, Whiz Buckley, Marcus Lutrell, all these heavy hitters out there doing everything they can to build this framework and make it work for the veterans the best it possibly can. And now with real money flowing in, it's showing that veterans have someone on their side that are giving them an off-ramp from the endless delays and mental health crises where the health system was basically just throwing nicities at these incredibly intense mental health crises that veterans were going through. Now there's actually potentially something powerful enough to come in and be capable enough to change the lives of veterans and give them positive mental health, give them the ability to live their life after serving our country. So to me, this is one of the biggest 4D chess moves ever. Keeping mental health high for those that have served our country, that's one of the biggest priorities. It's terrible that it took so long for this to happen, but the fact that it's happening right now makes me very optimistic for what we see happen with veteran mental illness moving forward. So what do you think happens from here? Do you think this entire movement basically led by Joe Rogan, Marcus Lutrell, Whiz Buckley, President Trump stepping in, backing all of them up? Where do you think it goes from here? Do you think it gains momentum and gains steam, or do you think it'll fizzle out? Let me know what you think in the comments below. Would love to hear what you think about this new innovative push to get veterans the actual treatment that they need for serious mental illness and hopefully reverse that trend of the 6,000 vets that we lose every year.
